Ever had an "affair"?

No, not that kind of affair. Have you ever decided that the grass is greener on the other side and supported another club instead? Why? Was it down to the folly of youth, peer pressure at school, or maybe you moved out of the area? Or are you having a fling with Notts?

One Grimsby Town decided to support Manchester United instead, and this is his story:

No, though I do like Arsenal - they'd never be like my passion for Notts.

There may be things which test my faith, yet I stay strong to it. It's interesting topic, as I know quite a few who weaver when we don't do well.

No not really. It's really hard for me to think of another team.

Although, my wife-to-be is a big  villa fan, so if we were gone, I'd definitely be a fan.

I have been keeping an eye on Barnet for years as my cousin supports them. Been to a few games with him. Really enjoyed them, especially the last game at Underhill.

I watch most of my football at Waldhof Mannheim now as I can hardly go to Nottingham every weekend. I suppose that's an affair. I can't bring myself to buy a shirt though - that would be like having an affair and putting a picture of my mistress on the mantelpiece.

At school I followed peer pressure and "supported" the most successful team, which was Liverpool. I never actually saw a match though, and I soon grew out of it.

no, i was never really into football before i started going to the odd notts game.

Never.

I did once wear a  Florist shirt, which nearly got me shot.

In the days of the USSR I was in a Moscow hotel with a cross section of English people. A 13year old girl from Sunderland was by the doors, when a big fat  Arab man in his 40's or 50's grabbed her arm.

She Screamed, and in what seemed like slow motion, my mate, a red, who was on his way to the bar, flew across the room and hit him. The Arab fled, and some lads from Birmingham, who appeared to be old hands at this sort of stuff  suggested that not being able to speak Russian  we all change shirts so that if  the police were called any description would not match us.

Somehow I ended up wearing  my mates red shirt but I  wasn't worried as was bigger fatter and had a beard. After about 5 mins the Arab returned with a mate, as they walked in the new chap reached inside his coat and pulled out a huge Clint Eastwood style hand gun. He was  barely able to  lift it, and was clearly as scared as us as he waved it about. mainly towards me. From nowhere security men arrived and disarmed him, but my overwhelming fear was that if he shot me, everyone would think I was a Florist fan.

Sounds like you learned a valuable lesson there @Piety!

Nope never! County Til I Die.

No never supported anyone else although I have been to so many games involving other teams I would be the matchday equivalent of a floosy....

I used to go with a friend to Man City games despite not liking them. I would not class this as an affair or in the same boat as some of the above though! lol :P

I don't hail from a footballing family and, when I was young, my dad would never take me to games - and these were the days before Magpie Player, Twitter, personal internet and so on, so I would literally have no idea how Notts would get on. So I began by "supporting" Manchester City despite having a soft spot for Notts as they were my best mate's grandad's club at the time and also the first football match I ever went to see (a one-off game with an old school friend and his dad), but as I got older I dropped Man City and became a devoted (and long-suffering) Notts fan. Sometimes I do feel like I dumped Claudia Schiffer in favour of Maureen from the chippie, but hey, I wouldn't have it any other way. Notts is life.

I have been caught with my trousers down before, only since moving here. I don't suppose it is the same as Meadow Lane but I do watch my local MLS team.

This affair started 2 years into the move.

I had to have counseling but I am a better person now. I devide my attention accordingly but my love remains with Notts. What can I say? My first is a very abusive relationship.

A lot of my mates liked one woman in particular, she was quite glamorous in the past, taking european holidays to Munich, Madrid and similar places, but I never fancied her for some reason. (My heart was already taken by another). Just recently she's had a few partners, though none have lasted long. I think its because she's got a sugar daddy from the middle-east who pays her bills and gets jealous if things don't go his way. Just goes to show the grass isn't always greener.

I was never really interested in football before. When i was a kid, my auntie took me to one forest game and i didn't like it so she never took me again.

I grew up in Reading in the 60s and early 70s......Reading was in the old 4th division at the time, they played at Elm Park in Tilehurst......my brother and I went to all the home games plus many of the Reserve games.....Steve Death in goal, Percy Freeman up front alongside "the Greatest Footballer you never saw", Robin Friday.

In that case, did you leave Reading to shack up with Notts @tarquinbeech? Doesn't sound like the smartest move in hindsight B)

My second love was fishing......moved to Long Eaton in the early 80s to buy a property on the Erewash, my dream, fishing from your own garden!!

Started going to both Forest and Notts on alternate weekends. Joined Home Brewery and ended up spending more time at Notts......the rest is history.....copious amounts of beer at weekends numbs the pain hahaha

For me being a Notts fan is a bit like my marriage. I've been a Notts fan for over 50 years and I can honestly say I've never looked at another club.

I've been married for 40 years and never looked at another woman (well ok I've looked but never been tempted). :-)
