too much pressure on notts to do well?

do you think some of the issues with the way notts have played is partly down to the club having too much pressure on themselves to do well this season?

i wonder if the defence dont feel comfortable with fitzsimons and visa versa.

could collin have made that much of a difference in goal? nobody will credit him but when he played well, so did notts. if the defence stumbled so did collin. i am not impressed by fitzsimons, i dont think hes taken his chance or faith shown in him by kn. what do you think?

I think it's largely due to a lot of different things.

The players didn't seem "fit" during the pre season, I thought they just wasn't bothered but now it seems almost all down to fitness.

Poor choice of captaincy, we saw last season that Richard Duffy wasn't a leader so why give him the armband again?

There's pressure but I don't think good players or teams can use this as an excuse.

Kevin Nolan has made some poor decisions already, but he's been let down by players so far such as Fitzsimons.

I always did think Collin was the better keeper but I am surprised that Fitzsimons hasn't taken his chance. I do think he has the potential to be better but he fails to do all the things which the Notts fanboys took for granted in Adam Collin.

As I said, pressure shouldn't be an issue with a good team that has good players. They should respond sooner rather than later.

I wouldn't say it's remotely down to pressure.

I think it's more down to organisation and the loss of a key member of the staff such as Mike Edwards. He seemed to focus heavily on ensuring the players was fit and up for the game, if fans watched him warm up with the players you would have seen this passion with your own eyes.

There's a lot of negative thoughts floating around and this could take hold of the club as we have seen in the past.

The players just need to focus, work as a team and click. It will happen and when it does, I feel Notts will be a real force in this league. I just wished it would happen as quickly as possible, for me it's about preparation and training.

I don't think the issues relate to pressure, if there is pressure it will be the players themselves making it.

I do think there's a lot of pressure on the squad to perform but I wouldn't say this is the issue.

I think some of the fault falls onto Kevin Nolan's shoulders, he chooses the team and has the ability to instruct the players when in the game. He seems too content to let things play themselves out and this just seems to be too late before he changes whats wrong.

Pressure can affect some players I guess but does the team just need to get used to playing together, there are a lot of new players. Having said that Mansfailed have a lot of new players too but they have started well.

Fitzsimmons has been disappointing so far he seems to lack confidence but the defending in front of him was poor for the last match.

I just hope that given time things will improve and the team will click.

I think pressure is something that good times look for and thrive on, they want to be known as being the best team and I think with Notts its more tactics. The defence needs to stay back deeper, rather than joining in with attacks.

There's enough quality in the squad to avoid some of the pitfalls we have experienced.

Pressure is more of an excuse I feel.

Professionals should be mentally strong even in the lower leagues, if they can't work as a team it would say something about the type of players purchased but I think in a few more games we will see what this squad is all about.

It could be pressure, it could be tactics or just a poor start.

I don't think there's much to be worrying about just yet, the early mistakes have not been good but the Colchester game could have been won or lost, likewise with the Cambridge match. It speaks volumes that the club went from drawing 0-0 having created no real chances to losing 3-2 having created plenty.

I also believe Cambridge scored their second on a break after Hemmings missed a sitter.

Maybe it is pressure for the defence?

They sat back and allowed Middlesborough to score but they could just be putting their feet up and thinking someone else will take care of things.

I think there might be to much pressure I mean we've not done great so far I think the defence needs upgrading were not doing great

At this minute I’m time it pains me to say yes

It could be this or we could just be missing the basics. Solid CB and an old fashioned ball winner or the middle.

we all know Tootle and Jones aren’t the best, but should be ok for this league. The biggest concern is the way the midfield lacks bite and the cbs seem totally lost most games. Loan market needs using pronto and cash spending. I don’t say that lightly but, without the offer of good wages, we’ll miss the boat and the money already spent will be wasted.

Pressure on Nolan will mount now I’d expect. If we don’t crack it soon, with all the players in, I’d be expecting a serious issue with manager.

I know it’s probably to early to say but I really think it’s down to poor recruitment for a specific formation.  I liked the signings of Dennis and Hemmings if we needed more pace, energy and goals from the forward line in a 4-4-2 along with signing 2 conventional lm and rm.

However we then went on to sign Enzio and Thomas so do we really need that many forward thinking players for 4-4-2? All are fantastic players but the balanace of the team is not there right now. Especially with the centre mids and full backs not being very defensive either. If we play Thomas and Enzio maybe a switch to see 4-3-3 with Dennis on the bench. I like seeing Enzio and Thomas switching flanks and attacking but why have an attacking fullback in Jones playing if we are relying on the flair of the wingers? Maybe drop Thomas but by doing so you restrict Enzio to the right side of the pitch.

We then went on to sign Vaughn and Kellett (both 5’7) playing both together though technically great, not ideal when on th back foot and will cause us to get bullied at set pieces imo.  Anyway Kellett probably suits a 4-3-3 or a 3-5-2 more but we can’t really play 3-5-2 with Thomas and Enzio can we? Think maybe our defenders aren’t quick enough either, would definitely concede a LOT of goals.

Vaughn suits the style of play we want to play and his positioning is fantastic, but who fits alongside him? it has to be Hewitt presently?  Shame COC is still not match fit as am sure he would have started at rb allowing Hewitt to stay in midfield against Yeovil. But still the flanks will get exposed when Enzio and Thomas have to defend.

Again could have been interesting to see Jones as a wing back in a 5-3-2 but again with the recruitment of Enzio and Thomas this doesn’t seem a possibility. So maybe we should have stuck with Dicko?

Sorry for the wall of text, to summarise I think we still don’t know our best line-up, formation, or really have an identity. However the season is still young and Kevin Nolan deserves our patience hope it doesn’t take him to long to find the right balance.

Hemmings and Dennis played some brilliant football early on, the signs was very promising.

I think the squad gets frustrated myself, when they concede they seem to deflate and struggle thereafter. It would have helped if Notts manage to get at least one goal, I do feel they would have came back but without that important strike they are a shallow vessel for what the club needs.

On paper county looked amazing but at the moment the pressure is getting to them.

Who made Notts favourites to be promoted? The bookies ! And unfortunately people were led by the nose and expect immediate results.

New players were brought in and they may be better than what we had but they are still league 2 standard players (not championship or premiership) and play against league 2 standard teams every week!! People need to get a reality check.

No one can dispute it’s been a bad start and Friday nights performance was abysmal. But some of the comments, after 3 league games are just ridiculous.

Until the clubs wins there will be a certain level of expectation and pressure combined, just encourage the team and Notts will be fine.

If it's pressure related which I don't believe is the issue, it will only mount more the longer we don't pick up three points. Winning now is as important than any of the signings the clubs made, it needs to be broken and the meltdown must be broken.
