PONcast Episode 46

Pride of Nottingham's latest PONcast is now available for fans to listen to.

@Chris and @samwatto2008 discuss several key topics, including the first away win over Macclesfield Town.

They also touch upon the EFL Trophy and if we agree with the competition.

In addition we debate Notts' chairman Alan Hardy's use of twitter and the contrast between his work and personal life. Also they share points on the recruitment this summer and much more.

What do you think about the discussion?

Can Enzio Boldewijn be more defensive minded?

Has the recruitment improved at Notts or does it still require further work?

Is Harry Kewell utilising all his tools?

Have your say on this weeks Pride of Nottingham PONcast.

.

@samwatto2008 only 33 minutes mate.

Once I removed the clutter etc, it came down quite far and it falls in-line with the usual shows. I apologise to everyone for being later with it, things have been busy but I love doing these.

This ones a long one folks. Hopefully makes up for no game this week. Also some really good points raised and good talking points that It would be interesting to get your opinions on :)

Well done mate I’m glad your back great job as  always

brilliant show yet again @Chris and @samwatto2008, my thoughts on the questions.

i dont think enzio is very defensive minded, i would rather he try and avoid giving needless fouls away because he feels he must defend more. provided he tries which he does and is trying to do. i think we can afford to allow him to do what he does best which is to attack.

i see nothing wrong with the requirement, i dont think the managers have done that well with embedding them into the squad and at the same time some of the players have not given a good account of themselves.

i feel harry will only stick with what he knows until hes familiar with the players, so in a way no he is not.

I listened to this yesterday after it first went up but I forgot to reply. I liked it, I though both PON members made a great discussion and shared good points.

Can Enzio Boldewijn be more defensive minded?

He does defend but he looks a little weak in this area, I don't agree that he's lazy because he does chase things. Some players will defend and those that struggle should work on it in training. Enzio is a brilliant attacking minded player, he would be playing higher up if his game was more polished.

Has the recruitment improved at Notts or does it still require further work?

I disagree that the recruitment has been poor, the signings had us all thinking we would run a way with the league and the poor start comes down mostly due to the lack of preparation. Some of the players have struggled with injuries, others got chances when the whole sides form was poor. I think it's been quite good for where we are.

Is Harry Kewell utilising all his tools?

No, not really. He's using the same players and the decision to start Shaun Brisley ahead of others was weird.

I think the performance from Macclesfield doesn't really matter if Harry Kewell can access it and work to improve the areas on the pitch they lacked. So I do agree with what @Chris said, the game could have easily been the other way around.

This PONcast is very good again.

I like the idea to include key questions! Great job Chris and @samwatto2008.

Can Enzio Boldewijn be more defensive minded?

This is an area he could improve on but at the same time he needs to reserve his energy so that he's got more to sprint at the opposition. I think some players could support the attack better, especially in the defence but I wouldn't single out Enzio for his defending.

Has the recruitment improved at Notts or does it still require further work?

I requires some work but this improves as the club does, compare this season to the last one and you can see how its been better. The club looked to strengthen the right areas, we have good players on paper and only the defence was ignored. I don't think any fan can complain about the way it's going.

Is Harry Kewell utilising all his tools?

No but he'd doing just fine with using what he knows.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Playing Shaun Brisley in midfield must have been tactical but I do feel it was a poor decision, Notts lacked a passing midfield and Brisley never held the ball. He didn't break anything up and his performance was average.

It's a valid point about Jamie Turley getting all the praise but he has been the better defender of the two.

Great PONcast lads.

Brilliant PONcast again! I would highly recommend it to any lurkers or exile fans like me, it paints a very good picture for those not as in the loop with performances.

Well done @Chris and @samwatto2008.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

I like the fact you both talk sense, you might not agree with each other all of the time but you both compliment each others opinions in a very interesting way.

Well done with the latest PONcast.
