So today I was thinking about the international scene and how currently Harry Kane is captain of England but not of his club.

My question is should the England captain need to be captain of his club first before becoming England captain.?

It doesn't matter, it's how he leads the nation team that does.

I am sure Tottenham fans see Harry Kane as being a leader on the pitch, so club football filled with many stars is harder to get that armband. He will one day I am sure.

No, just because you're a captain of your country does not make you entitled to captain your club. In comparison you've got players like Raheem Sterling playing with Alli, Dier, Lingard, Rashford etc playing for his country but then you've got De Bruyne, Sane, Kompany, Otamendi, David Silva playing for his club. I know Sterling isn't a captain but theres different quality of players and I think quality of player has a lot to do with it.

I think that if they are captain of there club team they have more experience than just the international level as would play more games than the international level.

i dont see why it makes a difference because the way i see it is whoever leads england best should be the captain. harry kane does this very well, he fights for everything and has a good relationship with the players. why not?

It doesn't matter.

Tony Adams, John Terry and Alan Shearer are all players who lead club and country. Are they any different than Harry Kane? No. I believe he's got a lot of fire to win games, his emotion and passion has been a shinning light with the setup Gareth Southgate has got going. There's very few England players I feel could be a good captain, yet in Kane I think he does it exceptionally well.

Besides he does sometimes captain Spurs, and he has in the past.

He will in the future too.

He's a good captain, Spurs should see this but thankfully Southgate does.

Harry Kane is a good captain. He led England well during the world cup.

They should and should lead  by example .. being captain for your team gives you experience for the big stage of captaining your country.

With all the overseas players in the Premier League, I don't think the captain of the national team should be the captain of his league club.

I don't think it matters, if the player is a good leader it will show on the pitch.

It makes little difference if the right player is chosen, I don't think it should be given to the loudest mouth but the person who can inspire others to dig deep and give 100% regardless of what happens on the pitch. The right captain makes the difference between winning and losing, they can help to turn games around too.

I think those that lead their club and country are a special kind of player, but saying that just because a national player doesn't lead his league club, it doesn't mean he can't be a good captain on the international scene.

He is what he is, we cant change it.

No, it doesn't make a difference in the grand scheme of things.

A good captain doesn't even have to be the best player, just someone who can motivate and support others without it costing his own performance.
