Kristian Dennis loan move last season

Last season, we were supposed to see Kristian Dennis and Kane Hemmings as our main strike partnership. For me, they was never given the chance to really settle. I still recall the home game where we dominated in the first half, then ended up being extremely poor in the second. @ARLukomski might recall the game better than me, I know Dennis played some lovely touches to put in Hemmings and Alessandra.

May question; did the loan move for Dennis to Grimsby help him or us?

I know their fans didn't actually want him in the end, however, I believe the deal was close to being a permanent move as a means to reduce the wage bill.

Personally, I wonder just how much that short stint played a role with him this season. He's spoken about wanting to play, prove his worth and not wanting to remain on the bench. There was also a brief time when he seemed out of favour this season, with fans telling rumours of him supposedly joining Stockport County,

7 goals he's got this season, he's working well alongside Kyle Wootton and Wes Thomas.

His form seems to be self-driven, with goals usually coming in back-to-back games which suggests he's quite in form for a striker. I honestly believe if it was true that last season he was bordering an exit from the club, that we might have struggled a bit more during this campaign.

I think his move to Grimsby was to help the wage bill to help bring in players in January

Not sure what game it was but I know Swindon was definitely one we dominated 1st half and were poor 2nd half.

He wasn't fit last season (neither was anyone) due to a woeful pre season (cheers Kevin). 

He's that type of striker that loves to be in and around the penalty area and when used correctly, he can be of huge importance. That's why he's got such a good goal record, the 18 yard box is his oyster and his finishing is good

i think both kane hemmings and kristian dennis should have done well at this level considering.

tbh i would have kept hemmings and let dennis go, but hes proving his worth now not just because of his goals but his movement too. opposition teams naturally want to mark him which frees up space for others. now there is that boost in pace, this can be lethal.

i do feel the loan move helped both parties, at his age i dont blame him about not wanting to feature on the bench all of the time.

The loan move was pointless, he could have helped to keep Notts up if he stayed here. It might be enough to push him to want to start more regular but at this level he should be scoring goals with the squad we have.

He looks eager to start, I still think we should be playing him in a rotation system.

I just feel Kristian Dennis pushes himself more when he comes on from off the bench, this season he has been almost a super sub.

He was stuck in a ruck at Notts.

Both him and the club needed to do something, I feel the loan move although unsuccessful was in the best for both parties. He has returned to the club looking fitter and more keen to settle down.

Both would have benefited from the move, but Grimsby isn't the same squad that once looked promising for a League Two outfit.

Most of their talent has gone, for that reason I did think Dennis may struggle.

He's a key player for Notts, he has goals in him and not just as a poacher. He can strike from distance, we just have to keep the creativity flowing.

I don't think it helped Kristian Dennis as much as some fans think, if it did, I think he would have gone before the season started.

All that matters is this season, if he wants to start he needs to make himself unstoppable and ensure he works hard enough.

To be honest he was neither use nor ornament last season. Grimsby dropped him quickly when he was there too. He's really come good this season, but has a fair bit of competition too. But it's a long season and we'll definitely be needing him. 

I could have imagined him leaving in the summer, but doubt there's anything in the Stockport rumour - he'll be on top dollar at Notts, and Stockport are part timers.

He shouldn't be starting mostly on the bench, he should be on rotation.

I would like to see him start alongside Thomas and Wootton.

I think the loan move would have took some of the tension and focus away from relegation, it seems to be one of the difference with him this season. That and his fitness, both seems to be better.
