Dave Challinor leaves Hartlepool for Stockport?

If you learn something from every game, there shall come a point in time, when you should never lose... Jimmy Sirrel

I think this decision is a bit weird, he's built something with Hartlepool and, they're 10th. I mean, I would understand it if he was struggling or under pressure, but he's got some good talent. Whereas Stockport County are getting a decent manager at this level, it still seems a risk as managers don't get many chances to build something special, or even see continued success. Hartlepool should be fine if they appoint wisely.

A field where dreams become reality.

I think he’s absolutely mad. Given how well it’s going at Hartlepool if he keeps them around play-offs/gets back into them there’s a good chance a L1 club might go for him (if he’s that concerned about moving on). And there’s a real element of luck involved getting promoted out of this league.

Obviously all about the money but if he doesn’t get Stockport promoted he’ll most likely be sacked, then his choice of clubs will be what? Another non-league club but with far less money. He’ll just be back where he started!

I can't make sense of why he would leave Hartlepool after the team he's built, it seems like he's shooting himself in the leg.

I can't get my head around this decision, Stockport County are not the type of team I think would adjust well to life in League Two. Hartlepool has under Dave Challinor, but its his mistake to learn from.

How are they funding all of this?

Hartlepool fans have every right to be annoyed with Rodney's departure from the club.

If you know, you know. ;)

what a silly decision, if it pays off he will act like it was always on the cards but its an extreme risk. managers dont get long to build a team these days, so to drop from a side where hes still enjoying moderate success to take on an average up half national league team it just seems odd. ????

His decision, let it be his mistake but it could hinder or help Notts out.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Perhaps he's operating on a shoestring budget at Hartlepool and feels he can take Stockport further? But the money they're throwing at him no doubt made the decision an easy one ????

It must be soul-destroying for Pools fans to lose a promotion-winning manager to a team a division below, and of course it's a crude attempt from Stockport to buy promotion. It's easy to take the moral high ground, but it feels a bit hypocritical at our end - we have several players who could've been playing higher up, but chose to join us instead. There's a handful of NL clubs, us included, that can blow most of League Two out of the water financially, so things like this will happen.
