  1. In a disappointing encounter that saw Notts County narrowly lose 5-4 to Colchester United, manager Luke Williams provided a candid assessment of the match. The game was a rollercoaster of emotions, with the disappointment of defeat being the most prominent. Yet, Williams remained pragmatic, acknowledging that the performance wasn't entirely poor. The match was a proof of the quality of the opposition. The balance between defence and attack was a key focus for Williams, as Notts County grappled with the challenge of improving their defensive solidity while maintaining their attacking threat. Despite the defeat, the team's spirit and determination were commendable, demonstrating their resolve to fight back in future fixtures. Williams didn't mince words about the disappointment, stating, "Well, disappointment, of course, is the most overriding emotion because of the result." However, he remained composed and realistic about the performance, adding, "I don't have a really terrible feeling that we performed really poorly. I don't have that feeling over the course of the entire game." One of the factors contributing to the challenging match was the quality of the opposition. Williams highlighted Colchester's impressive players, especially Troy Deeney, who netted a hat-trick against Notts County. Williams pointed out, "Troy Deeney scored a hat-trick against us, and I'm pretty sure he scored a Premier League hat-trick before. The quality of the players is very high." The balance between defending and attacking was a recurring theme in Williams' analysis. Notts County started the game by conceding five goals on the opening day, and Williams emphasised the importance of improving defensively, saying, "We're trying to become defensively better." However, they also needed to maintain their attacking prowess. Williams acknowledged the challenge, stating, "It's difficult to stem the flow of counter-attacks when you're trying to attack so much." Williams acknowledged the difference in momentum between the two teams, noting that when Notts County had the upper hand, they felt confident about scoring, explaining, "When we had momentum, you felt like we were going to score." However, Colchester possessed the ability to strike back with goals seemingly out of nowhere, as Williams observed, "Colchester got the ability to score from nothing." Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Williams commended his team's spirit and their determination to fight back throughout the match. He said, "The spirit that we expect from this group was there, and they never looked like they were giving up." When asked about the pressure and the need to analyse every aspect of the game, Williams revealed his meticulous approach, stating, "We analyse every single game." He stressed the importance of identifying both individual mistakes and systemic issues in the team's play, explaining, "If you have conceded goals because there is something flawed in the game, then we need to analyse that." Luke Williams offered a balanced perspective on Notts County's 5-4 defeat to Colchester United. While the disappointment was palpable, he recognised the quality of the opposition and the challenges faced. Notts County remains determined to strike the right balance between defence and attack as they aim to bounce back in upcoming fixtures. 4. A disappointing result, indeed. However, let's not overlook our team's spirit. The fightback spirit was commendable. It’s a learning curve.

  5. Colchester United performed exceptionally well, applying pressure and causing issues from the start of the match. It was an energetic game and had both teams’ defences been stronger, it might have resulted in a draw or a closer win. Any spectator would have found the game highly entertaining. While some fans are concerned about the goals we let in, they are quick to commend Colchester. Both teams need to reduce the number of goals they concede, which is why Colchester has been struggling and we are fortunate to have a strong attack. I hope we return to keeping clean sheets soon.

  6. I agree, I think it’s probably mainly scrap dealers there are also a lot of doors missing off those green telephone/cable boxes around our way exposing all the wires etc. We had a metal bed that we were giving to charity (British Heart Foundation) I put it out on the day it was going to be collected and a scrap man came and was going to cart it away despite the fact that it was just outside our front door! He had to open the gate and come down the drive, I swear blind he’d have taken it if we hadn’t seen him. I know folk leave stuff on the road for them but they shouldn’t enter your property.

  7. There was no end missing when I used to walk around Wollaton with my brother and @super_pie. I also encountered areas where manholes had been smashed in or had crumbled away. Actually, I walked from Highfields to Wollaton with Jake. Along the way, we encountered some individuals vandalising the land to access cables. Many people walked by without saying anything, but I was the only one who had the courage to confront them and ask them to leave. The council put up two cones around it, with orange tape and a different time a blind person almost walked into it because someone had removed the tape. The covers are dangerous though, especially in certain areas where weird people try to throw their rubbish into them. Not only is there danger of walking into them and falling, but also the damage it can do to cars and the local infrastructure.

  8. It wasn't a terrible performance, but if we couldn't score goals, it would have been. Aidan Baldwin struggles if Notts can't control the game. I think it's unfair to pick on him, but I was disappointed with his passing. Usually, he is a good passer. All the defenders need to improve their game.

  9. It’s not just teenagers causing damage, but I understand your point. In my opinion, this is the work of scrap and junk collectors.

  10. The attacking threat seems promising. However, we would do better by striking a solid balance between our attack and defence.

  11. Chins up, lads. Not the best game, but there were positives. Saw some real grit out there, looking forward to seeing how we respond to this defeat in the next match.

  12. Tough result, but we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves considering the formidable opposition. Still, we must concentrate on tightening our defences.

  13. There are too many missing drain covers, the police should do more to ensure those who steal them are apprehended.

  14. There's no denying that we let in more goals than we should have. However, this defeat does not define the team's potential. I believe Luke Williams's comments hold much truth, we did show a strong offensive game, and the team spirit was commendable. The struggle lies in our defensive strength. We allowed the opposition to score easy goals, which certainly tipped the scales. If we want to keep our winning momentum, bolstering our defence without losing sight of our attacking potential should be our primary goal.

  15. I find Luke Williams’s analysis quite compelling. Although the team’s performance wasn’t entirely dismal, the persistent defensive mistakes certainly need to be addressed promptly. The calibre of our adversaries, with Colchester United demonstrating their potency, is indeed a significant factor. In the future, I believe that a more unified defence will be crucial. On a positive note, our offensive capabilities were still evident at times. While the goals may have been scarce, the potential was clear. It would be beneficial for us to concentrate on refining these strengths whilst tackling the issues at hand.

  16. It was a bit annoying, but I must give credit to Colchester United as they managed to stay on top of the game. If John Bostock had been playing from the beginning, I don’t think they would have been able to apply as much pressure. But that’s just how it goes. On any other day, we would have come out on top. But we didn’t this time, and we just need to look back and get better. Our main focus should be on being consistent and staying alert while defending. We need to work together as a team, rather than as individuals.

  17. In the previous season, we experienced several matches like this one. Although not as many goals were given away, we did lose to teams we could have potentially managed better. Luke Williams is familiar with the team’s abilities, so I’m confident we can rectify the recurring defensive errors. From my perspective, we have the potential to rise to the top, but we find it challenging when faced with strong teams that apply pressure. Despite Swindon Town’s strength, I believe we will perform better in our match against them.

  18. i dont think we need to change anything major, its mostly just focus and team work when defending. we just switch off or make too many wrong calls. aidan stone allowing the first was a major set back, things like that will lower the confidence and its how we respond. i think we had the fight, we attacked well and look good. but colchester knew if they scored, we would take a bit of time to come back with the level of intensity that we can. by which point, we would score and then so would they.

  19. Is that what its come to, taking something needed for safety to make abit of money.

  20. This has been a long-standing issue, with teenagers often causing the damage ones which are there. Given that more people are engrossed in their phones rather than watching their step, this poses a serious risk.
