  1. Kameron Muir has made history at Notts County, becoming the club’s youngest ever player at just 15 years and 32 days old. The talented midfielder debuted in the Magpies’ 2-1 Bristol Street Motors Trophy win against Burton Albion, replacing Jevani Brown late in the match. By stepping onto the pitch, Muir surpassed the previous record held by Jermaine Pennant, who first played for Notts County at 15 years and 10 months. Reflecting on the moment, Muir admitted his initial disbelief. “My dad called me after school, along with my mum, and told me the news that I had been selected for the squad,” Muir said. “I didn’t think I was going to come on, I thought I’d just be here for the experience. But I’m really grateful, and now I’ve become the youngest player to play for Notts County.” Jake Henry, Academy Head of Coach and Player Development, was full of praise for Muir’s growth since joining the club’s youth system. “Kameron joined us playing grassroots football in Derby, and his progress has been fantastic to see,” Henry explained. “He’s incredibly hard-working and determined to be the best he can be, which is what we always look for in a player. He had the opportunity to train with the first team over the summer, and his attitude was outstanding. After one of the sessions, he told us, ‘It’s just football,’ which perfectly sums up his grounded personality. He’s focused on enjoying the game and playing at the highest level possible.” Henry also acknowledged the significance of Muir’s debut. “For Kameron to make his debut at 15 years old is a remarkable achievement, not only for him and his family but for all of the Academy staff who have worked with him. To be the youngest player in the club’s history is a great milestone.” Muir’s calmness under pressure and love for the game is clear, with Henry highlighting his desire to keep improving and enjoying every moment on the pitch. His impressive attitude has helped him thrive, even when faced with the challenge of stepping into first-team football at such a young age. After the game, Muir shared a touching moment with his family. “They were here tonight, and it was brilliant going over to see them at the end. They looked really proud, which made me smile,” he said. Fans of Notts County will be keen to follow Muir’s journey after his record-breaking debut, which showcases both his talent and the strength of the club’s Academy. Muir’s rise from grassroots football to a professional debut serves as a testament to his dedication and potential. With the spotlight now on Muir, Notts County supporters will be excited to see what lies ahead for the 15-year-old. His debut marks the beginning of what promises to be a bright future, and the Magpies faithful will be eager to see more of him in the first team as the season progresses. 2. It’s moments like this that make football so special. A 15-year-old debuting for Notts County and becoming the youngest player in the club’s history – what an achievement for Kameron Muir! It’s clear the lad has a great head on his shoulders, especially with how he handled himself after the match. His journey from grassroots to the first team in such a short space of time shows what dedication and hard work can do. I’m especially impressed with how grounded he seems. He’s not letting the occasion overwhelm him, which is vital if he’s to fulfil his potential. I think he’s going to be a key player for us in the future.

  3. It was a big moment for Kameron & his family when he took to the field as a substitute late in the game. It was a landmark moment for the club too, with Kameron being the youngest ever player to take the field for the senior team. This landmark is just the beginning of what could be a brilliant future career for him as a player. His parents & family will be immensely proud of him, & that was a day they will all never forget. I wish Kameron all the best for his promising future.

  4. When I looked at the two squads, I thought Burton would have been more in control of the game. Listening to the match on the radio, it sounded like our squad was up against it at times. You see the number of young players starting, and you can see this is their chance to show what they can do. I am delighted for all five of the academy players, but for Kameron Muir to make his senior debut at the age of 15 and become the youngest Notts player ever, that is special. I hope they can take this performance and use it to get more opportunities in the first team in the future.

  5. He looks like a talented lad. I think it’s good that Notts didn’t throw him straight into the game but used his time on the pitch well. It gives us something to hope for, as we have seen many young players come and go. But I don’t know, James Sanderson, Riley Reynolds, and Kameron Muir have something special about them. I hope they continue to flourish, but what an honour for Muir to have.

  6. i think the efl trophy is a great time to include young players, it gives us fans something to actually be encouraged by because i dont find the competition has ever really been taken seriously. i think notts does, but from the fans perspective it could be a lot better. i am please kameron muir got to come on and has become our youngest player, as i say, it gives you something to be invested with.

  7. I’m really impressed with how the team handled the Gillingham match, despite the result. We controlled the game for long spells, and it’s clear that we’re growing as a unit. The controversial goal was a tough one to swallow, but it’s part of the game. I think with a bit more sharpness in the final third, we’ll turn those dominating performances into wins. Injuries didn’t help us either, especially losing Jodi Jones, but we have enough quality in the squad to bounce back.

  8. The academy deserves a lot of credit for nurturing a talent like Kameron Muir. Breaking a record at 15 is one thing, but to do so with such a calm and mature attitude shows that he’s got the mentality to match his ability. His journey from grassroots football to Notts County’s first team is a great example of hard work paying off. I love that he thought he’d just be there for the experience, only to actually get on the pitch. Moments like these are what football’s all about, not just for him, but for his family and all those who have supported him along the way.

  9. It's moments like these that make you appreciate the work done at the Academy. Kameron Muir stepping onto the pitch at 15 years old is not just a win for him, but for the entire Academy setup. To have the right guidance and mentorship at that age is crucial, and it’s obvious that Jake Henry and his team have done wonders with him. What stood out to me was Kameron’s calmness throughout the whole experience. For a lad that young to take it all in stride is impressive. The fact that he’s so grounded will help him go far in his career. Really looking forward to seeing how he progresses from here, hopefully, this is just the start.

  10. Fantastic to see another Academy graduate breaking records. I remember when Pennant set the record, and now it's been broken again. Kameron seems like a humble lad, and I can’t wait to see more of him in the future.

  11. I think this match really shows how football is often decided by small margins. Notts controlled possession, but it felt like Gillingham were always comfortable. They didn’t allow many clear chances, and when they got theirs, Nevitt was clinical. It’s a hard pill to swallow, especially since we looked the better side for long spells, but possession doesn’t win games, goals do. Stallard’s analysis of Tsaroulla’s chance is spot on. That moment, along with Abbott’s, could’ve changed the entire dynamic of the match. If we take the lead, Gillingham would’ve had to open up, but we just couldn’t take advantage. It’s something we need to work on if we want to stay in the promotion race.

  12. I love to hear Mark Stallard's analysis. He is so good at picking through the Notts performance post match. I think he is absolutely correct with his analysis. Notts didn't play poorly in this game, they didn't play to their best, but any other day they could have easily won this match It was unfortunate that the chances didn't fall to Didzy, Crowley or Jones otherwise I'm sure they would have buried those chances. I won't dwell on the goal ruled out for offside & the penalty that wasn't given, but another day & another Ref things may have been different. There are positives to take too. The Notts defence was solid again, Bedeau showed that he will be a big player for Notts this season. And Notts did create plenty of chances against a side that will be up there at the season's end. Onwards we go to Morecambe next Saturday.

  13. It’s always tough to see a game slip away, especially when Nick had such a golden opportunity. We dominated the match and created plenty of chances, but Nick’s miss was particularly unfortunate. Stallard is right about Tsaroulla and Abbott needing to take their chances, but Nick’s miss stands out. Gillingham made it difficult for us, and once they scored, they shut down any openings. We have the quality to break teams down, but today just wasn’t our day. The most frustrating part is knowing that Nick’s chance could have been the difference. These games are crucial in a promotion race. Still, it’s a learning experience, and hopefully, we can take those lessons into the next match.

  14. Gillingham weren’t that good. Defensively, they blocked some chances, but it was critical at the cost of our attacking play. Notts were unlucky at times. It’s easy to miss some good opportunities when playing in a high-tempo game. It happens all the time at the top levels, so I don’t think we need to worry about those misses. The main thing to rethink about this game is how we handle poor officials. I think if Jodi Jones hadn’t gone off, we would have scored before Sam Austin’s ruled-out goal.

  15. i dont think we need to dwell on the missed chances, but mark stallard is right and goals change games. just like poor officials which was the real talking point. i was hoping that would be pointed out when i came home after the game listening to the radio but it seems only bbc radio nottingham discuss controversial moments when its forest. its a bit disappointing, but mark stallard is right with his comments. i know he spoke about it during the game, but it was absent at the end.

  16. Notts County suffered their first defeat of the season at Meadow Lane, falling 1-0 to Gillingham in a closely contested affair. Speaking on BBC Radio Nottingham, Notts County correspondent Mark Stallard shared his thoughts on the match, emphasising the importance of taking chances, especially in tight games. During the post-match analysis, David Jackson, from BBC Radio Nottingham, opened by reflecting on a pivotal moment in the first half when Notts County full-back Nick Tsaroulla found himself in a promising position. “My mind keeps going back to earlier in the game with the Nick Tsaroulla chances,” Jackson said, noting the team’s ability to get in behind Gillingham’s disciplined defence. “You kind of thought, well surely they'll break that down again and get a goal eventually, but of course it never materialised.” Stallard was quick to agree, recognising that such missed chances often determine the outcome of matches. He noted, “Absolutely, and again, taking your chances is key in football matches. Very small margins separate games, you know, a lot of weeks of the season. Not every week can you go and score three and four goals, even when you've got the sort of potency that Notts possess, the quality of play.” Despite Notts County’s dominance, with 70.5% possession, the Magpies struggled to make their control count on the scoreboard. Stallard singled out Tsaroulla’s chance, as well as another from George Abbott, as key moments that could have changed the complexion of the match. “When you get your chances, you have to take it. Nick Tsaroulla, and George Abbott with those two chances - had they taken that, we got in front. You get in front, it then gives a different dynamic to the game because Gillingham are behind, they have to chase something out of the game.” Gillingham, known for their defensive solidity, executed their game plan perfectly, frustrating Notts County’s attack and staying compact throughout. Stallard acknowledged their approach, saying, “Although I was really impressed with the visitors, I have to say, although Notts played well, and if they'd have taken their chances, obviously it would have been a different game. But I thought they looked solid, they looked like everything we'd expect them to be.” Elliott Nevitt’s goal in the 38th minute proved to be the decisive moment, with Gillingham making the most of their limited opportunities. Stallard praised Nevitt’s clinical finish, noting, “The composure they took their chance, Elliott Nevitt when he got his opportunity took it really well.” The first goal, according to Stallard, was always going to be crucial in such a tightly contested match. “That first goal may have changed the game completely,” he said, suggesting that if Notts County had struck first, the outcome could have been different. Had the Magpies taken the lead, Gillingham might have been forced to abandon their defensive posture and play a more expansive game. Stallard’s analysis also touched on the overall resilience of the Gillingham side, who showed why they have one of the most formidable defences in League Two. “You can only play what's in front of you, Gillingham played the game well and kept Notts really at arm's length,” he concluded. Ultimately, while the defeat was a setback for Notts County, Stallard’s analysis served as a reminder of the small margins that can define football matches. Despite their best efforts, the Magpies were left to rue their missed opportunities as they look to bounce back in their next fixture. 18. With the injury worries we have, I hope this performance gives a chance to some of the youngsters like Riley Reynolds. It’s great that Kameron Muir came on as the youngest player, but I hope it means more of our homegrown talent will get chances in league games in the future.

  19. I agree with Stall, but we should also remember that we're one of the league's top teams for scoring, and the players who had good chances aren't strikers. Misses happen, unfortunately, we weren't able to overcome the poor officiating, but the players performed well.

  20. Slocombe - 6.5 - Made some key saves and reflex shot stopping, something he is good at. The usual heart in mouth / almost monumental f-up in the first seconds, couple of flaps. Cisse - 7.5 - Really impressed. Lots of pace and put a few good balls into the box. Tired towards the end. Cundy - 5.5 - Lots of mistakes with the ball at his feet. Should have cost us - didn't. McDonald - 8 - Really impressive half. Won everything, passing excellent, stepped out on occasion. Chicksen - 7 - Solid. Did everything he needed to. Gordon - 7.5 - A menace down the left and took his goal well. Hinchy - 6.5 - Solid if unspectacular. Tired. Austin - 7 - Bundle of energy. Reynold - 6.5 - He was tidy, contributed well. Tired in latter stages Grant - 7 - Really tidy at times. How he missed that chance, though. Brown - 6 - Largely anonymous. Expected more. Macari - 7 - Solid when he came on. Tsaroulla - 6.5 - Did his job. Adifeh - N/A - Didn't see too much of him. Sanderson - 6.5 - Ran after everything. Didn't always come off for him, but he was busy. Muir - N/A - Not on long enough, but exciting to see a 15 year old breaking through.

  21. It was a going to be a difficult match tonight against a League 1 team. Notts saw plenty of player changes, but the players that came in aquited themselves well, throughout the match. I believe it was a good defensive performance overall. Notts were dangerous up front at times in that first half. All the team played well to the system, & showed plenty of character in the 2nd half. Rod McDonald had a great first half after being out injured. Austin was as steady as he always is. Jevani Brown had an encouraging performance & I thought Reynolds proved why he featured in the pre season games. The five academy players played well & contributed to the win. So a very good performance by all the players tonight, however, my man of the match goes to Kellan Gordon.

  22. I am pleased for Riley Reynolds for assisting Kellen Gordon. Reynolds played for 76 minutes, while James Sanderson played for over 45 minutes. Madou Cisse played the full game. It was interesting to see Sam Slocombe captain the team. It was a very good win for Notts, who had a vastly changed side.

  23. While it is true, remember that the more minutes the youngsters get, the more they will learn and grow in confidence. It’s hard to judge a youngster when they are just settling into the team. I thought all the youngsters looked capable of playing alongside what I would consider to be a much weakened Notts side. Experienced players like Adam Chicksen, Sam Austin, Rod McDonald, and Kellan Gordon all helped the youngsters. Chicksen was the first to respond to Riley Reynolds. The ball from Reynolds was perfect. Yes, it was a simple pass, but he didn’t hesitate and knew exactly where Gordon was.

  24. It might seem controversial, but I don’t think Luke Williams would have chosen many of the young players to start or feature as long as they did. Two or three at the most. Stuart Maynard deserves a lot of the credit for having faith in the youngsters and for the win. It was brilliant to see them doing so well.

  25. I thought Sam Austin was very good throughout the game. His experience, I believe, helped the youngsters. He took his goal well. I think Austin becomes a different player when he finds the net.

  26. Despite Morecambe slow start to the season, they seem to have picked up in recent games, and Notts must show them Respect. However even without Jodi (who should be rested if he's still not fully fit) the Magpies should have enough Fire Power to secure all three points, and it will be disappointing if they don't. 3-1 Notts

Mauricio Pochettino former Spurs and Chelsea Head Coach and a possible early front Runner to Replace Gareth Southgate as England Manager, has been appointed as the Head Coach of the United States National Side. It will be Interesting to see how he Coaches the side, if he will Adopt the European Style of Football or Pep ball the Expansive brand of Football or Go in a Completely Different Direction? The thing is does the American National Side have the required Skillful Players to play the European Way, or will Poch have to Mix things Up? Thoughts?

  29. After a Humiliating 5th round Knock against fellow Brit Daniel Dubois, what is there left for Former World Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua? A.J. Suffered the fourth defeat of his career last Saturday and to me he looked Completely Washed Up, he seemed to offer Nothing against the Younger More Hungry Dubois. It seemed that there was only going to be one Winner in this Fight, from the Very First Round. Joshua did manage to land a couple of Good Punches during the Fight, But Dubois shook them off and moved in to Destroy the Poor looking Joshua. Frank Warren Dubois Promotor wants a match with the other World Boxing Belts Holder Oleksandr Usyk. But first Usyk must face a Rematch with the Gypsy King Tyson Fury, which should be an interesting encounter. There was a Rumor that Fury had fallen off the Wagon again ( a reference that Fury may have gone back on the Drugs and Booze, which resulted to him being stripped of his license the first time) after his Defeat by Usyk a Fight most people thought he was clearly Winning, before he started getting Cocky and started Showboating and got caught by a Usyk punch which Rocked him and turned the Fight's advantage to the Ukrainian. Is the Rumor True? Will the fight Happen? Time will tell. A.J. as vowed to carry on Fighting Why? So he can become a Shuffling Journeyman who gets knocked from Pillar to Post when Promotors use him as a Punch Bag stepping stone for their Promising up and coming Heavy Weight Fighters? Give it Up A.J. while you've still got your health, millions in the Bank and Nothing to Prove. Enjoy your Retirement your time in the Lime Light as gone, there are other jobs you can do or Train to do, it may Not Be as exciting as Boxing, but it'll be a Damn Lot Safer and you can Enjoy time with your Family, it may be hard at First but you'll get over that.

  33. It would be nice to think that eventually some of the Youngsters may go on to play for the Notts first Team. But if Notts are anything to go by, they'll all be Loaned Out Season after Season, after Season until their Contract is up and then been told their Free To Seek Opportunities Elsewhere, or Will Be Sold to another Club for an Undisclosed Fee.

  34. It would be disappointing to come away with nothing, especially with their form, but every game is different. Morecambe are suffering right now, and Notts could make a game of it if they play to a certain level. Defensively, we should be fine against them, I feel. It’s making sure we stay switched on in key moments, but our attacking players should be all over them. Have we had any news on Jodi Jones yet?

  35. Tyson Fury fights on his own terms and is one of the worst to avoid fighting people he believes would beat him. If he thinks there's a chance, he screws them out of money by demanding more of the fights prize money as a way to try to force his opponent into saying no. Anthony Joshua I do think could with Fury, but it could go down to who boxers better on the day. Fury is a very irritating character, the way he treated Oleksandr Usyk before and after their fight shows what a gutter ball he is. AJ treats his opponents with respect and is by far the better professional. I like that he came out saying that he wouldn't retire and wanted to speak after the fight, despite being advised not to do it. That is a further sign of respect. I wouldn't rule him out of going for a championship title again, but he needs to work harder and train well. I personally think he should keep away from television shows during periods where he's expected to fight, stick to the gym and training.

  40. @thommo Tyson Fury Would Take Joshua's Head Off. If Fury can Destroy a Boxer like Deontay Wilder three times, Joshua hasn't got a Snowballs Chance in Hell against the Gypsy King, who if he hadn't mucked about and Listened to his Trainer's Advice instead of his Father's he'd have won the Usyk Fight. There's No Disgrace in Joshua Retiring Now, it's much better to Go Now, than trying to Recapture his Glory Days. That Ain't Gonna Happen. How many times over the Years have we seen Boxers carry on Fighting in hope of One Last Great Hoorah, only for them to End Up a Shuffling Mess and a Shadow of the Boxer, they once had Been?

  42. Retiring isn’t the best option, but finishing his career in the best way possible would be good for him. I can’t see him fighting for another title, but he should go for boxers like Tyson Fury. Anthony Joshua is a likeable boxer who could continue for at least another five years.

Great to see Rod McDonald return and play so well in that first half, with Cundy doing well too, Notts are going to have some competition for places in their defense.

  45. I don't take a lot of interest in Boxing nowadays. There doesn't seem to be much talent coming through in the Boxing divisions as far as I can see. Young people just think it's too dangerous to take up a career in boxing, Just take the amateur Boxing as an example. There are rumours that Boxing may be discontinued at future Olympics. The British team used to have a successful Olympic amateur boxing team with plenty of medals, but this Olympics the medal haul was poor compared to previous years. Getting back to professional Boxing the golden age of Boxing is long gone, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Sugar Ray Leonard, Hagler, & co were on another planet compared to what's on offer now. As far as AJ is concerned he's made his money, he should just retire & enjoy the rest of his life. And for WD, AJ will probably get a rematch with him, AJ will win, then there will be a third match, to make them both more millions.

If the answer was always to replace players, then there’s no point in training or coaching. You won’t get the best out of people, you’ll just buy better and stand still.
