  1. Do you think that if Notts were promoted this season, the club could improve enough to remain in League One? It’s a much tougher league, with teams that have far more quality. My concern is that most supporters may not be patient enough to see Notts rebuild and take the time needed to strengthen. With the performances we’re seeing now, I wonder if we should focus more on addressing the team’s form to better support our promotion hopes. I might be in the minority here, but while I hope for promotion, I also realise it would take a lot of work, and Notts might not be ready for it yet. I would prefer for the club to be well-prepared and capable of staying up. The current poor form might even reflect some doubts within the team itself.

  2. bradford park avenue signed a couple of notts players after they had left us if i remember right, lewis knight being one. we signed him from them and never really played him enough to get the most out of his ability. his pace was lightening quick, such a shame because i thought he looked promising. i dont know a lot about bradford park avenue but it would be nice to see a club of their history higher in the leagues.

  3. i am off work for the rest of the week, i decided to have a bike this morning and i really liked to get out. i used to do it quite often but with the cold weather being around for longer i did not bother. now i am home, wondering what to do with my time. i dont think i could cope if i were tone, i need things to distract me but having time to be idle just does not suite me. tho seeing nice places does sound nice, what places can i visit is beeston that are nice?

  5. Yes, another year for Didzy, regardless if we win promotion or not. Great combo of magic feet and endless work rate.

  6. He's got at least one more season, and given the impact in tough games this season I can't see how we could let him go. Totally. I was hoping they might bring Jim back when the Saunders brothers left.

  7. I did not see that one coming. We have often heard that players won't be signed just to make up the numbers, but that appears to be exactly what has happened with Junior. Not really fancied by any manager he played under since arriving. Strikers are generally confidence players and need a run in the team to get going but I can't see him getting it, at best a few appearances from the bench waiting for Jatta to return and Traore to get fit. On Traore, he was thrown in sooner than normal after arriving so hopefully just needs time. And it seems they are not sure what to do with Jarvis. Talented lad, again hopefully with some game time we'll see a bit more from him.

  8. It's been a lovely sunny day here & it was warm in the sun but the wind was cold. Managed to get the grass cut in the back garden. Will do some more work tomorrow such as cutting the lawn edges & weeding.

  9. i have not seen anything about giving feedback about this at any point, did any other members? i dont get why it has to be the top of the kop that gets the safe standing, it would be better lower but the club does what it wants. i am not against those who stands but i am curious if this effects me. no email, just the status so time will tell.

  10. Good morning, cold and cloudy at 1.3 degrees this morning. We are all packed up and off to Southampton after we’ve dropped the cat at the cattery. I won’t be on here much for the next fortnight (I can hear the cheers from here) so I hope everyone stays fit and healthy and Notts are in the top three when I return. See you soon.

  12. i think we have a good squad regardless of where the budget puts us. there are players who would need time, and others that would easily make the step up. as a team notts would need to be stronger as a group. i feel there could be improvements made, if we could score more goals from open play and without relying on being as direct as we are right now. then that would help. most people would be patient enough i think, but it would be a challenge. my concerns about promotion is if we start off like mansfield did and be up within the promotion area, only to drop off and the doom and gloom mongers start to be more vocal when really it would be an overachievement. mansfield start this season is a vital sign as to how important early form is and how teams newly promoted can struggle in spells. i can see us being similar if we were to get promoted.

  13. This is news to me, but I moved from the KOP to the Pavis Stand a few seasons ago. While I do miss it, I don’t think the KOP has been the same or as good as it could be. I hope the introduction of safe standing brings a lot more energy to the atmosphere.

  14. I hope Junior Morias gets a chance this time. He has a lot of pace and brings qualities that Notts are missing at the moment. He could fit into the squad in so many ways. His natural finishing ability would be a huge benefit if Notts could create chances that aren't just tap-ins or attempts to walk the ball into the net. Few players seem confident in taking shots from distance. I feel he deserves an opportunity, as he is one of the players who has been treated unfairly.

  15. Players with a mission and determination often show great self-motivation and drive. Jim O'Brien was eager to be part of the team that brought the club back to the English Football League, and he played a key role in achieving that. David McGoldrick has been outstanding this season. His performances towards the end of the 2023-2024 season were not solely his fault, but also a reflection of the lack of quality in the squad overall. I believe he has at least one more season left in him, but the decision ultimately lies with him. If Notts secures promotion to League One, I can imagine he might decide to retire.

  16. anyone else disliking all these early kick offs? its nice at times because you spend the evening doing something else, but then it seems to be more each season. its a good chance for notts to put this poor form behind us and to start something positive, being more clinical on goal would be a big boost. not that i think crewe will be an easy game, far from it but it is one where winning holds more importance the longer our form remains poor. crewe are only just in slightly better form, but notts has to have that fight and winning mentality.

  19. I was almost a touch undecided, only because I was starting to be worried that we were becoming over-reliant on him. And I think that can be a bad thing, we can’t expect a player coming to the end of his career to be our saviour all the time and bail us out when we are struggling. But at the same time of course it would be daft to not have him in the squad. I’d 100% have him for another season, but I think we need to prioritise getting in at least 1 really good No.10 over the summer as well. He looked really fresh coming on against Grimsby after his break. Ok it wasn't through choice, but having a period of time not playing actually helped him. We know when it comes to the weekend, midweek runs of fixtures he needs a break to be at his best so we also need to sign someone who will eventually take his spot.

  20. if david mcgoldrick feels he can still perform to the level we have seen this season, and notts adds more quality around him and take into consideration there is a need for someone like him to fill in when he cant play, then i am all for giving him a new one year deal. last season i would not have said this, but he has earned it with how much he has self driven notts to wins.

  21. i am a little annoyed by it, why do we keep recalling him and never giving junior morias a proper chance. i almost expect him to be sent out on loan in a few days time, just as we start to think he has a chance. imagine being morias with how notts have prevented him from playing, and basically signed a player to not actually play much at all. i really do hope he gets a chance. its very odd behaviour by notts.

  22. Yes would definitely offer him another contract due to what he brings on the pitch and the touches that can turn a game but also the experience and advice he can provide off the pitch. I think we lost a lot of that when both Jim O'brien and John Bostock left, I think the value of this to younger and inexperienced players is invaluable.

  23. Good Morning everyone. It is cloudy here & looks like it rained overnight. Was hoping to give the grass a good first cut today but it is too wet. Was pleased to see that it appears that the UK has a new Tennis star to carry on from Andy Murray's successes. Jack Draper has just won what is regarded as the "fifth Grand Slam", the Indian Wells Masters 1000. He goes up to number seven in the men's rankings.

  25. I would offer him another year, but at a much lower wage. If it is true that he is our highest earner, I would adjust the offer to a fair amount, taking into account his age and the likelihood that he may not play every match, even though he has proven his value this season. Next season could be different, depending on the league. However, if he stays on high wages, I would decline.

  28. We know that David McGoldrick is not just a colossus on the pitch even though he's 37 years old, but he is big off the pitch for Notts too. David McGoldrick has scored 26 goals in 56 league games for Notts County Boss Stuart Maynard called veteran forward David McGoldrick "Superman" after the fit-again striker came off the bench to seal Tuesday's win at Grimsby Town. He is so influential & a great leader as well as being a fantastic role model for the other Notts players. The performance of the match squad go up when he's on the bench & field of play. It was there for all to see against Grimsby. His brilliance on the field at this level is unmatched too. His ability to score a goal out of nothing could be an important factor for Notts during the season run in I believe that Notts should offer him an extension if he wants it, maybe including a player coaching role, where he can study for his coaching certificates if he wanted it.

  35. Leave politics to social media or the right forums for that. It can be a toxic subject, which benefits nobody when they can't agree to disagree. The way it is currently is only intended to distract and cause inner fights. The best decision is to ban it.

  36. I have always said I want to go watch a Bradford Park Avenue game. I swear we had an ex-player who signed for them during the National League years we had, but one day, I will get to go to one of their games. I'd like to explore the side of my family's roots, which @super_ram explained. It would be nice to see what happened to the family cafe, and where my grandmother grew up. She was a lovely lady, very much of the presence you felt when thinking of Princess Diana. My Grandfather Tom (real name William, also called Bill) struck gold, and it wasn't even what he was originally mining for. I've never referred to either of my grandmothers as "Nan," but I felt the warmth of it. It's just not something I ever thought of saying at the time, as I say, she was a proper lady, and I miss her deeply. It's a shame how Bradford Park Avenue have never managed to reclaim some of their glory years; they don't have the finances to compete competitively, and, with the right investor, could be a great team to revive. Unfortunately, they are overlooked by Bradford City and some who choose to support Leeds United, despite the rivalry between them. Having interviewed and spoken to Uncle Colin (Colin Slater), his memories of Bradford Park Avenue were fascinating. It was a club he spoke very fondly of; he even told me a story about the club's former owner, who he used to be good friends with.

  39. I believe that even a one-off or occasional donation is worth considering. However, the subscription tiers really do help the site. PON has benefited from some great improvements thanks to this support. If you enjoy the site or its social media presence, it’s definitely something to think about.

  42. We have successfully acquired another subscriber! I am incredibly thankful to those who are supporting the Pride of Nottingham within this means. I value everyone's involvement, that isn't to be taken for granted, but I know wit the current cost-of-living and how expensive things can be, supporting a site like PON might not prioritise highly. Yet, I am in-debt to those who kindly do. I am driven to deliver a high standard, and I want the 2024-25 season to be one of the best. Thank you for being a part of securing the future of the site, plus for considering it - if you haven't yet. ???? ????????️????????????????????????????????️????

  46. I’m content to toss a bit of cash towards the donations now and again. The subscription aspect seems like a very efficient method to ensure the site receives regular assistance to cover expenses and so on. I commend those members who have subscribed, as I’ve mentioned, I’m pleased to contribute.

  47. I’m not opposed to the idea of subscribing, as I believe it’s a crucial aspect. However, I would be more inclined to make occasional donations. My desire is to support PON and ensure its continued growth. I hope it becomes more appealing to members and the number of subscribers rises, which would be delightful to see. Wishing you the best of luck in garnering additional support.
