  1. What is the best and worst performance you've ever seen from a Notts side?

    What season was it?

    Who was it against?

    What was the score?

  2. yes its early and most likely people will not want to say much, but i think it could be an interesting subject. i think kevin nolan is closer to neal ardley than he is to harry kewell.

i think both nolan and kewell could be very hot tempered when dissatisfied.

the early impressions of neal are good, he seems rounded. he has his way of doing things which seems to be making a positive difference. the players seem to be on a level field with him and attempting to implement the tactics + the instructions. the reaction after the tranmere game was brilliant to see. there was so much positive influence and respect.

we cant get carried away but i would like to see what people think is different about ardley, whats refreshing and if the success nolan experienced with notts is anywhere near to what ardley is currently doing.

i think nolan forgot much of what made him successful and it dwindled down due to pressure.

    what do you think?

  3. I have a competition going on Twitter if anyone wants a print.

  4. If you were the manager and if you had to sign a player or two from Ardley's former club, who would you sign?

For me it would have to be Adedeji Oshilaja and Mitch Pinnock

  5. Okay, so after seeing the Sterling video posted by Rio Ferdinand yesterday and reading some of the many comments that accompanied both that and Sterling's subsequent Instagram Statement, i.e. "what bad grammar, etc.," I'd like to talk about something very close to my heart!

As a young (black) child growing up at school in the late 50's (with only one other black child who'd decided, anyway, that I was "mixed beef"; "a coconut" ('black on the outside/white on the in') and "different" to her because my mother was white and my Dad, Jamaican and therefore 'not worthy' of her friendship and where the white kids regularly told me I "ate cat food"; or was "a ******"; "a Coon"; "a Monkey" and everything else in the farmyard they could think of... but a 'duck!"

I attended job interviews in the old style glass-windowed offices where I was one of two people (the other being a white girl) applying for a job only to hear the Personnel Manager tell his colleague, "black 'uns best for the job, but you know company policy, so I can't offer it her!"

Then there was the time I moved to London and was accosted by a (very) drunken Irishman on a Tube late at night, who challenged me to help him win a bet with his mates at the pub by asking, "I'm right aren't I? You lot don't have the same red colour blood as me, do you?" Of course I assured him that 'us lot certainly do not' and he could happily collect his winnings from him mates because he'd got it "straight from the horses mouth!" He left the tube that night, gleeful at his own 'superior knowledge'!

Then there was the time where my Training Sergeant at Hendon (Metropolitan Police Training Academy) took me in to his office and told me: "See this badge? Well, I'm very very proud of this...and I have to tell you, I just don't want niggers like you, wearing it!" Or the time we were doing scenarios in the yard at the scene of an accident where he was the driver of a 'crashed vehicle'. As the 'officer in charge' I had to ask, "Did anybody see what happened?", only to be told by him, "this big black bastard with long hair came running out and I couldn't avoid him!" I later ascertained the "big black bastard with long hair" was, in fact,... a toy poodle!

Then there was the time I'd taken my (white) P.A., Debbie, to New York (as a Christmas present for all her hard work) and met up with a client: the Chairman of a huge International Company we'd previously done Investigative work for but whom I'd never actually met. In speaking with him in London prior to the trip, it was discovered we were both in N.Y. at the same time and so we arranged to meet there for dinner. At first, he went to kiss (yuck - but it WAS the 80's!) Debbie's hand and she immediately introduced me, to him. He looked visibly shocked! At dinner, he wanted to know how I 'felt' being Debbie's 'boss and did I realise how unusual I was...A black woman running a big company with a white P.A., etc.,?' His tack carried on throughout the Starter and on to the Main as Debbie and I became more and more deflated and uncomfortable by his rudeness and obvious racist, vile comments: so, for the first (and last ever) time in my life, we both went to the loo...and did a runner from the Restaurant...and him!

There are many stories I've had in my lifetime similar to this but now, with Sterling's recent and very public 'experience' I want to talk about something that affects EVERY ONE OF US IN THIS FORUM...

That is, I'm hearing reports of a Notts fan screaming from the terraces at a recent match - to one of our (black) players - that they're "going to stop his banana supply" and of another screaming that he's "a black cnut!"

I'd just like to make it very clear and very plain, that if I see or hear any comments of this nature, whatsoever, I will have not one second of hesitation in calling a Steward or a Police Officer to report what I've heard; nor in making a written Statement direct to the club. I will also be more than willing to attend at Court and give evidence against that person, if necessary.

It's 2018. There is absolutely NO PLACE for this anywhere in our society and I truly hope that anyone else who hears anything of this nature from our terraces, will have the cojones to do exactly the same as me.

I believe that only when this is totally unacceptable to us ALL and people are ready, willing and able to come forward to report it, will there ever be any change in this totally unacceptable behaviour.

I think we're so much 'better' than this at Notts...or (at least, for the benefit of my 2/5 year old grand kids I'm bringing to matches), I certainly, HOPE we are!

    Thanks for reading. Loz x

  8. i just went on twitter before heading here and i noticed that the pon gaffer had been mentioned by none other than corina turley!

this portrait of jamie looks amazing! its very much like him.

i really like how genuine and kind the turleys are, they both deserve a lot of credit for their interactions with the fans and hopefully the success will continue. what a very nice message it is tho!! i bet @Chris is too humble to say anything but i wanted to share it.

    well done mate! 👍

  9. Neal Ardley has admitted it can’t wait for his Meadow Lane bow on Saturday as Notts prepare to take on Tranmere in his first home in charge of Notts.

  10. So Neal Ardley delivered a home win in his first home game in charge can we now start to be Optimistic.?

With Grimsby next up only a few spaces and points in front and Macclesfield at meadow lane next but a hard game away to Bury is it time for us to be optimistic.?

  11. So what’s every one getting up to this week as Christmas fast approaching are you finishing your Christmas shopping or going to watch the magpies or something completely different.?

  12. So yesterday we beat Tranmere 3-2 in Neals Ardleys first home game in charge in what has to be the best home game this season the reaction to the win said everything the fans the players and the manager.

Especially if you have a look at the pictures taken by Dan Weatwall at yesterday’s game the reaction at the end the way Neal was on the touch line during the game and the players reaction during and post game with Neal is awsome.

  13. Womens football isn't the most popular sport lets be honest. But does this do the sport much justice when things like this is happening. At the end of the video you hear him talk about a potential signing and the GM says "Is dad going to pay for this one then". I mean ... Imagine sticking an 18 year old kid in charge of a professional team that is in charge of the success, transfers, money and daily tasks of running a football club. Quite funny really.

The game was much better than previous ones and the players attitudes and moods were much better.

It was a good balanced game, very entertaining and the game overall this season at Meadow Lane. I felt Tranmere played well, Notts just looked brighter on the day.

  18. So my normal question- any positives from the game at meadow lane v Tranmere.?

  19. Fitzsimons 7 Match turning save at 2-2, helped towards getting 3 points rather than none. Heart in mouth at some of his outfield footballing skills..impressive kicking against the wind first half

Hewitt 3 Not a full back, positionally unaware for Tranmere's second, jumps with no conviction

Turley 6 No nonsense centre half

Ward 5 Concerned by his lack of concentration at times

Jones 3 always offers a good ball in when attacking but gets taken to the cleaners defensively too many times

Davies 6.5 Well, have we had the O'Connor like midfielder all along? Neat in possession and in the tackle too

Milsom 5 Reads the game well, one good challenge of note but never feeling to be able to step up and control the midfield

Vaughan 4.5 Too weak in the tackle really should be exerting his perceived class. Maybe conditions yesterday not to his liking

Thomas 6.5 A whisker away from scoring in the first half, knew what he was doing to draw the penalty challenge

Hemmings 6.5 Impressive work rate alongside Stead, neat pass to allow Jones to cross and for Thomas's run for the 3rd

Stead 7.5 Cool head Jon..tucked Penalty away well, dispossessed Tranmere player to set up Hemmings. Worthy MoTM

    Subs

Evina 3 Two kick it anywhere stray passes..should have done better

Dennis 5 Tested keeper from tight angle

    Ardley 7

Impressed at organisational skills when the team is without the ball. We actually looked like a team today...not a team of misfits

  20. We are nearly half way through the season and Notts are in a point where every point matters and good performance will breed confidence and help the lads.

But we can be the 12th man us fans have a big part to play this season in roaring the lads and the manager on.

Both home and away ties we need to cheer to them and make sure we stay the oldest league side.

WE ARE NEALS ARDLEYS BLACK And WHITE ARMY
