There's several entertaining TV shows that I am addicted to watching, which is pleasing because it seemed to be narrowing down due to quality and lack of free time to watch anything on normal TV.

I'm curious, what is your favourite TV show currently?

A few weeks back I would have said 'Game of Thrones', I love the TV show and I think the last season was pure brilliance - if not a little slower than prior ones but as an whole it was very enjoyable. I also like AMC's 'The Walking Dead' but that's a bit of a love hate relationship now. I can't watch the spin off 'Fear the Walking Dead'. There's also Better Call Saul which would compete, however currently these have all finished airing at the moment.

Here's a few honourable mentions.

Graves - I love this, it's about a former US president dealing with the decisions he made in hindsight.
Kevin Can Wait - very traditional TV sitcom - good entertainment.

What about you?

Notts County's remaining three fixtures in September are quite the top billing.

First, a local derby against Lincoln City at Meadow Lane.

Then a trip to Exeter City in a clash between first and second in the table (or first and third depending on Saturday's result - hopefully not!)

And then the big one... Mansfield Town away.

As fixture runs go, what are the most taxing / high-profile that you remember over the years?

And in terms of this one, how do you think we'll do? Can we... (hushed tones) make it a 100% month?

From the official EFL site:

EFL clubs have indicated they would be in favour of an earlier closure of the transfer window from next season onwards.

The decision was taken at a meeting of all 72 clubs and, subject to further discussions, will be put to a formal vote in February next year ahead of any changes being implemented in time for the 2018 Summer Window.

While the EFL is under no obligation to make any changes, the EFL outlined a suggested approach that differs from the recent adjustment by the Premier League, whereby a shorter window for permanent transfers would be introduced, but clubs could continue to sign players on loan until the traditional end of the window on 31st August. Clubs overwhelmingly supported the approach.

EFL Chief Executive Shaun Harvey said: β€œToday was all about understanding a direction of travel in what is a hugely emotive matter not only for clubs and managers but supporters as well. The clubs have been clear in their mandate and we will now go away and look to develop a set of proposals before moving this matter on to the next stage, which would be a formal vote in order to change our regulations.”

What do you make of this idea? Would it be good for stopping uncertainty as far as several games into the season, or could it be damaging for the teams in the EFL?

I'm curious what other fans think about the contract extension and how much of a good thing it is for us as a club?

It's brilliant in my opinion, it shows how we are finally a forward thinking club and of course the hard-work behind the scenes comes into play. We have cut and changed the managers at Meadow Lane under previous regimes (even Munto) but so far Kevin Nolan and Alan Hardy are doing wonders. For me it breeds confidence and is an excellent sign for the players (not only them but us fans). It really does highlight the far distance we have come in such a short distance of time.

Myself and @Joe JonesΒ discussed the contract talks in the latest Pride of Nottingham PONcast.

I've also written my own thoughts at length inside this article below, so I am keen to see what your thoughts are.

Have your say, let PON know. COYP!!

  • Not a game which was easy on the eye, but a win is a win. You don't get any extra points for playing pretty football, 3 points is 3 points. You can tell we've built that winning mentality, and we Β have learnt how to dig results out. We're learning how to do jobs against the s**t in this division. These last 4 games, we probably wwould have lost 2 or 3 of them the last couple of seasons.Β

It's early days. I'm not getting carried away, after the last few seasons I'm more than happy to enjoy the ride and see where we end up. But this is very much a team to be proud of right now. YP

The performances should lift as the confidence in the squad builds up.

Yesterday was another fantastic win no matter how you look at it - the fact we are grinding out the results is a positive. Last season we may have gone 1-0, only to concede two very poor goals late on. So, I'm personally delighted and I do think the performances will come. On paper Crawley can be a difficult team to face, just look how they have done against other teams supposedly better than us.

    COYP!Β

I don't expect anyone to go into the financial details of this hearing. ItΒ would be very unprofessional to do so. But I think we should at least be told which way it went.Β

Β

I'd love to learn more personal accounts of this, already on social media we have had a flurry of responses but I actually know very little about the background story. Nonetheless I thought I would share this and see what the PON members have to say about it! Please do share your thoughts, memories etc.

So, what do you remember? Did you attend? Have you ever won anything on Lifeline? COYP

Please take a moment to wish Notts VBlogger and PON writer @ARLukomskiΒ many happy returns!

Happy Birthday matey!Β

We lost 3-0 to Coventry City but who will be the second team to defeat the magpies on our run up of fixtures coming up? 8 games unbeaten currently and i personally think Exeter will end it on Tuesday, very difficult team to beat by the looks of it and think that match will be a real statement for Notts's season.Thoughts?

Labour has made an interesting suggestion - to ban betting companies from shirt sponsorship deals as part of a drive against a "hidden epidemic" of addiction.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/sep/06/ban-betting-firms-football-shirts-labour-gambling

What do you think about this? And please let's not get party political, but just focus on the proposal. Should something be done about the massive amount of gambling advertising in football? Or would this be another instance of the nanny state in action?

I'm broadly in favour. IMO gambling and football have been linked for as long as I can remember, but it's never been as omnipresent as it is today. And the ubiquity of adverts offering free bets is potentially drawing in a new generation of problem gamblers. And if tobacco companies areΒ banned from advertising, why not Ladbrokes and co?

On the other hand, gambling isn't the only harmful thing out there. Where do you draw the line? McDonalds and Coca-Cola spend a lot on football sponsorship but are hardly healthy. What about them?

Game 7 - The Robins (H)

What line-up should Kevin Nolan opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

The other Friday when England played Melta, I heard a lot of interesting thoughts regarding the current national team - including views on Gareth Southgate.

It seems like there's a large amount of national fans who don't believe in the current crop of players.

I myself have lost interest in watching them, I used to watch all the friendlies religiously but for me these days I just don't expect to be entertained. It's not that I don't believe, it's more a lack of interest. Yet I have become that disillusioned with the current setup, team and choice of managers that I can see how badly it's ruined the English game.

I recall rushing home as a school boy back in 96', eagerly excited to watch the likes of David Seaman, Alan Shearer, Paul Gascoigne, David Platt, Steve McManaman etc.

These days I don't have the same level of interest, and it's a shame to some degree.

Listening to the 'Three Lions' song it makes me remember how fun it was to watch England, yet at as a nation we don't seem to have the same level of passion. It's almost like being a Notts fan - 'Rooney's crap, he should retire' - it's becoming very negative. This adds to my frustration, as a fan I always remain optimistic about our chances of national glory.

Though it would help if we had a strong team that restored a level of faith.

How do you feel about the current national team? Do you feel we English fans believe? I'd love to see peoples opinions.
