They is a Strong Rumor coming from the Lane. Let me state Again. This is Just A STRONG RUMOR.
It appears that Jodi Could be OUT FOR UP TO SIX MONTHS.
For the Sake of the Magpies Promotion Hopes, Lets Hope that, that's all it is RUMOR.

Such a sad & unnecessary closing. The UK will be worse for it. As I've said in another thread. Other Countries will be laughing their socks off, with this delusional race to National self harm.
These Countries below are not going to follow the UK's example of shutting down it's coal fired electricity generation anytime soon if ever.
Meanwhile they have a distinct advantage over British industry by having much cheaper energy to make their products.
China last year generated over 60% of its electricity from coal. Many of these emissions end up being embedded in consumer products used in Britain.
China is not the most coal intense economy, either. South Africa generates around 80 per cent of its power in this way, India 75 per cent & Indonesia 60 per cent. These are big users.
Those are the thoughts of Former Manchester Untied and U.SA. Goal Keeper Tim Howard. In an Interview Howard has stated that he believes that Pep has Ruined Football by making all Teams believe that they can play, like his Manchester City side Possession Based High Pressing Brand of Football. The Trouble is a Vast Majority of Teams can't play that way. Guardiola has had immense success with his Expansive Style Of Football, however where he has the World Class Players to adapt to and carry out this style of Football poorer Teams haven't. So is this why we are seeing more and more Defensive mistakes and Teams giving away silly goals? Because they think they can play Pep ball, when they actually can't?
The arrival of Luke Williams at the Lane saw Notts adapt the Possession High Pressing Brand Of Football, and like City the Magpies were successful playing this type of Football. And whereas Man City had Erling Haaland to score the Majority of their goals, Notts of course had Macca, who was ably supported by Cedwyn Scott. And despite the scoring goals like they were going out of Fashion, Notts also let in a high amount of Goals. Williams Mantra was OK the Opposition score 4 goals we'll score 5 and so it went on, and on a couple of Very Important occasions the matches against Boreham Wood in the National League Play Off Semi Final and again it the Play Off Final Notts almost came unstuck both times, falling behind in both games and only a Mammoth effort by the Players and William's Man Management skills finally Brought success back to Lane with Notts returning to the Football League.
A Stroke of Luck or Genius by the Notts Recruitment team saw Macca arrive at the Lane, before Williams had been appointed, but would Notts have been has Successful without Macca's Goals? Maybe Not? So is that the way to Counter and Nullify Pep ball, by taking out his teams Top Scorer? After all City don't seem as Sharp in front of goal when Haaland isn't in the team, but City still win Games because they have players to fill the gap left by Haaland. Where as Teams with a Smaller Players Budget haven't, so out of necessity they have to change their style of play, if they Don't and stick to the same system they then seem to struggle.
It would seem that last season Notts kept to the style Williams had so successfully adopted in the National League, and Despite the Thumping by Sutton on the opening day, the Possession type football bought Notts more success and they began winning games, however before Williams made the move to Swansea, the Cracks at Notts were beginning to show as teams had worked out how to Deal with the Magpies style of play and we all Know what Happened then. While still maintaining a Good amount of the style of Football Notts have had success with, new Head Coach Stuart Maynard now has a New Defensive Unit and he's managed to Mix things up and kept the opposition guessing. He may have to change things further, after the injuries to Jatta Scott and Jones have cut the Notts attack down to the Bone.

I love the football that Notts play nowadays. When they are on their passing best, it can be very fast and slick.
Quick passing movement up front can open up defenses & create chances. But passing from side to side at the back when the opposition has a high press is dangerous & can be costly.
Have you noticed we don't see a lot of offsides nowadays? That's all to do with the passing style that has taken over the game.
I can remember passing teams such as Liverpool, Man U & Forest in the 60s, 70s & 80s used to pass it around, but most of the time the goalie would punt the ball or kick long from goal kicks most of the time.
I've said it before & I'll say it again. I'd just like Notts to mix it up a bit. Try going long if playing short isn't working. Surprise opponents, don't let them settle combating just one style.
That's why Jatta in the team is so exciting because he gives Notts that extra option to do that.
Harking back to the Sirrel and Wilkinson era. The quote was always "You have nothing to fear, provided you have control of the ball."
Notts went route one last night and scored from it.
Bass to Jatta, get in. Pep will be having a hissy fit.
Right my Fellow PON Members thinking Caps on. What in your Opinion are the Most Famous Words in Football ever said? They could have been spoken by a Player, a Manager/Coach a Radio or Television Commentator. Just a few words or sentences that you ,will always remember about the Beautiful Game. Mine came from when I was a Kid back in the 1960's and the 1966 World Cup Final between England and West Germany and where spoken by BBC Match Commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme and they were:-
There's People On The Pitch, They Think It's All Over. It Is Now.... It's Four.
As Geoff Hurst's thunderous shot hit the back of the West German Net and he completed his Hattrick.

This is etched into my memory when I think of quotes from football. I don't know about anyone else, but I always have the habit of impersonating the commentator who said it by trying to say it exactly like him. I do this most times, I think of it. ????
Also, this one is there too.
I had a similar thing, when Kevin Nolan unfairly criticised me in a press conference because JJ had shared pictures of Liam Noble training, which was sent to him by a friend called Ben Hastings (who sadly passed on from cancer). He referred to me as "Arsenal fan TV" and claimed "He always has his picture taken with the players."
I only have a few pictures, and more are from after Kevin had left Notts.
It was usually Jake and Cal who had pictures with the players, and it wasn't like we bugged them. Just Kevin being a little pathetic about something very minor. He has since apologised, so it's water under the bridge but hate the time I would have happily had a boxing match with him for charity.
Don't write me off!

How many connections can we think of between The Mighty Magpies and Carlisle United? Let’s keep the guesses to a minimum of one for now.
I’ll start by mentioning defender Shaun Brisley.
Can you think of any players, staff members, or managers that connect the two teams? Remember, let’s start with one person for now.

Conceding within the first two minutes had me fearing the worst, but the lads displayed tremendous heart. Maynard’s halftime talk must have struck the right chords because the second half was significantly better. Sam Austin’s cross for Platt’s equaliser was pure magic.
While a draw might not seem like much, given the circumstances, it’s a point well-earned. The team exhibited grit and determination throughout. It’s a pity the referee didn’t show a red card to their centre-back, though.
I don’t think we missed Jatta as much as we missed Jodi. Both are good players, but McGoldrick just needs a bit more energy around him. Notts played so deep that it was always hard to pass successfully within their half of the pitch. I would have liked to see Notts try to be a bit calmer and a lot more determined to move the ball forward, but I left happy with the point.
As @Fan of Big Tone is on holiday, I've continued his chat thread for him this week.

Good morning.
It's a lovely morning here plenty of sunshine, no wind but is is a crisp morning.
Did you know that Mansfield was thought to be the centre of Sherwood Forest, & was a stop over for travellers going from Nottingham to Sheffield & Vice Versa? There is a plaque in Mansfield town centre marking the spot .
In the time of Henry II of England, the king visited what is now known as Kings Mill, staying at the home of Sir John Cockle for a night having been hunting in Sherwood Forest. Sir John Cockle was later known as the Miller of Mansfield.
It's a Sunday Morning. Good Morning to all.
It is an overcast start to the day with showers forecast later.
Not much planned for today, didn't get a lot of sleep last night for some reason.
It was a cold night so left one of the gas heaters on.
Did you know, Ed Davey, the Liberal Democrat Party leader was born in Mansfield.

Yes, welcome to Josh. I don't know that much about him but I think I remember seeing him on the EFL highlights programme last season for Portsmouth, which must be a good thing, he must have done something good to be on the highlights programme, I'm guessing?
he will grow into the team, george abbott needed a full game under him to fully come into the squad and now he looks difficult to be dropped. so, i look forward to seeing more of josh martin. welcome to meadow lane, josh!
Stuart may spring a surprise against Carlisle & play Martin from the start, however I think he will be on the bench once again.
I know what you're thinking are Pep and Jose that Good? What are you some Kind of Idiot? Of course they are look at all the Titles and Trophies they've Won between them. This is of course True you only have to look at their Wiki pages and see how Good they are and I'm Not Denying that, but there's something that Bugs me about both of these Football Managers/Head Coaches and that is During their Careers, neither has really ever had to Struggle at any team they've Managed both have gone to Big Clubs where Money was available and having as Much Cash as you need to buy the Players you want, isn't in my Opinion the sign of a Good Manager/Head Coach.
Pep Guardiola.
The Three teams Pep has Managed/ Coached have Been Barcelona, ( only Real Madrid have offered any competition to them) Bayern Munich ( not much opposition) and Manchester City (Liverpool and to an extent maybe Arsenal, have stood in the way of City winning the Premier League). He's never been in charge of Poor Team, wherever he's been Money has been available for him to Purchase the Best Players by the owners. Like most Coaches he hasn't had to lie awake in his bed at night, wondering if his Top Scorer will be fit enough to play Saturday or if his loses, then his Job is on the Line. Never has he heard Guardiola Out Chants or You Don't Know What You're Doing. No Pep has had as had an Easy Coaching Life compared to most of his Peers.
So what in my eyes and I'm sure of many other Non Manchester City Fans, would Make Pep into a True Coaching Great? Lets see him take over a team in EFL's League 2 and take them up through the Leagues and into the Premier League and Win a Major Trophy. Yes a side that would offer him a Challenge, A Club where they had to watch every single penny, were he would have to Coach and Man Manage his players to get the Best out of them. This is of course Pure Fantasy on my part Guardiola would never accept such a Challenge and So in My Opinion can never rank along side the Likes of Brian Clough Jimmy Sirrel Dave Basset or any other Managers, who have taken their Unfashionable Teams to the Heights of the the Old First Division or Premier League on player Budgets which are probably less than what the Tea Lady at City gets paid.
The Same could very Much be said about Mouriniho, so I wont bother repeating myself. Just lets see Jose take an unfancied team from the Lower Leagues and make them into Premier League Champions or Trophy Winners. But It Will Never Happen.

I thoroughly disagree. Pep for me. Just look at the managerial failures of Jose in recent years. Don't forget Mourinho at Chelsea, he discarded "talent" like Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne.
With the Amount of Money Pep has been given at the Clubs he's Managed, any decent Manager, Could Have Achieved What He Has Done. He's had an Easy Ride, Not unlike Lewis Hamilton in F1 never had to Struggle, always had the Best Car, until he didn't have the Best Car and has been found Wanting Over the Last few Seasons.

i think romelu lukaku can be added, but i still think jose is the better manager personally.
both are different types of managers tho.
Notts play Halifax Town Women in the FA Women's National League Plate first round at the Millennium Stadium Feather stone at 2pm
Halifax play in the FAWNL Premier Div North which is a step up from the FAWNL Division 1 Midlands that Notts play in.
It will be a tough game for Notts but they can go into the game with confidence due to their excellent recent form, winning their last two away games.

It ends in defeat & Notts are out of the FAWNL Plate.
Halifax may be a league higher than Notts, but the Notts Ladies gave them a run for their money today.
Once again, the Notts defence was well organised and kept Halifax to just the two goals in the first half.Notts managed a goal of their own too.
Chances were at a premium in the 2nd half with both defences dominating, although Notts had a chance to equalise in injury time.
Notts should take encouragement from this narrow defeat, They kept a clean sheet in that second half which is a big positive considering the opposition today.
It will be back to the league for their next match.
there is nothing wrong with the result, our team gave a good account and managed to pull themselves back into the game. playing a team higher up and only losing by a single goal, its encouraging. hard luck to our players.

Well done to David McGoldrick; he deserved it.
Over 63% shows that many fans felt it wasn’t quite open with other players performances. Well done to everyone who voted, even if you didn’t vote for the winner. It’s important! It shows the community’s response. So, well done to David McGoldrick.
I do feel David McGoldrick is the right choice, but everyone has their own opinion which is refreshing to see, and I like seeing which players get mentioned as being the Man of the Match. I am pleased for McGoldrick.

Footballs a funny old game, can go from not being wanted to be part of the plans. ????
To be honest I never thought he was that convincing. I can't recall him making a proper dive or really getting off the ground.
I think its a good move for him to get some game time and hopefully build confidence. Although I do think Notts should have a third keeper, whether that's Slocombe at second or third and I still think that we should have kept Brooks.
I'm in full agreement with you regarding Tiernan Brookes, Notts Should have kept hold of him, having both him and Bass at the Club I feel would have pushed both players forward. However Tiernan may have sought the move wanting to be first choice or the Club decided to do what they normally do and sell the young Notts Talent for an Undisclosed Fee.

No Not Me, I have Nothing but admiration for the Ex-Notts Manager. These are the words of Former Sunderland Goal Keeper Costel Pantilimon who played under Big Sam in 2015/2016. Despite Allardyce's tactics earning him praise and many admirers for his ability to pick up Results and then save the Black Cats from what appeared certain Relegation, his Romanian Keeper wasn't a Fan of what he called Big Sam's Strange Style Of Football.
It wasn't the fact after 17 games that Allardyce replaced Pantilimon with Vito Mannone then Costel, No Sour Grapes? Apparently the Romanian wasn't a fan of being given a day off from Training either, which was something else he found Strange. The thing is there may have been Sunderland Fans who didn't like the way Big Sam set his team up or even his Style of play but if it Stopped Sunderland from Going down, when it seemed Relegation was almost a fore gone Conclusion it didn't matter what Tactics of Strange Style of Football Big Sam got his team to play.
It was after his stint at Sunderland Sam Allardyce became the England Manager, but was forced to Resign after 67 days in Charge after the Daily Telegraph Sting, which was a Disgrace, because I think Big Sam would have been a Good National Side Manager. And after his fall out with Allardyce, Pantilimon moved to Watford where he made a Mere 9 appearances, so Costel maybe you weren't replaced at Sunderland because you hated Big Sam's Strange Style Of Football, more than likely it was because you were a Lousy Keeper.
- Show previous comments 2 more
i guess some players might hold the manager more responsible for bad spells in their careers, there are so many reasons why two people would not get along and with social media everything is always more open than it would be without.
@Wheelbarrow repair man Really disagree on this: "It was after his stint at Sunderland Sam Allardyce became the England Manager, but was forced to Resign after 67 days in Charge after the Daily Telegraph Sting, which was a Disgrace, because I think Big Sam would have been a Good National Side Manager. "
If this were true, why hasn't Big Sam been given an opportunity elsewhere managing a national side?
Football has moved on, Big Sam leaving England was perhaps the best thing that has happened to our national side, in that we have progressed to a footballing head coach style. Possession is everything!
Each to their own Opinion. You have your thoughts on the Subject I have mine.
Right my fellow PON Members I'm going to have to ask for some help on this one. There's been a New Cup tournament Invented brought about or such, that being the National League Cup, to be played between National League sides and Premier u21 sides. Much to the Chagrin of a few of the National League sides. This got me thinking, what about all those Trophies that used to be around but are No longer played for? Some that I name may still be played for but under another name, so with your help lets see how Many Missing Trophies we can come up with.
The Anglo/Italian Cup. Had to be number 1, as this Trophy sits in the Trophy Cabinet at Meadow Lane.
The Anglo/Scottish Cup. I'm not sure this was a Competition, it's just I seem to remember Derby being involved in it in the 1970's.
The Watney Cup. Another Trophy Competition I remember Derby being apart of in fact I believe they were the First ever Winners.
The Fairs Cup. This Trophy may have a different name now, but if memory serves this was the first European Trophy won by Don Revie Leeds side.
The Intertoto Cup. This European Trophy also may now have a Different name.
The Home Internationals Championship. Played for by the Home Countries of England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland.
The County Cup. A trophy which always seemed to involve the Magpies and the Red Dogs across the Trent. This Trophy was played for long before I became a Notts Fan. I don't know if any other teams were involved or Not.
The Brian Clough Memorial Trophy. I know after Cloughie's Death Derby and Forest used to play for this Cup. I Don't Know if it Still Is?
Well there you have my fellow PON Members. Apologies if I've got any wrong or you know that the Trophies are still played for but under a New Name. I'd be Interested to know of any other Trophies that used to have place on the Footballing Calendar but are No Longer contested.

It’s awful to think that some of our history has been discarded and used for scrap. Players worked hard to achieve those, and we might see them again.
@Wheelbarrow repair man : "The Anglo/Scottish Cup. I'm not sure this was a Competition, it's just I seem to remember Derby being involved in it in the 1970's."
Notts were beaten by Chesterfield in the final, how can you not remember that?????
1980–81 Anglo-Scottish Cup - Wikipedia
In terms of when Notts were in administration, there was a legal duty on the Administrator to sell ANY asset the club has. That includes historical memorabilia.
In answer to your questions. Regarding remembering Derby taking part in the Anglo/ Scottish Cup, I remember the Rams playing a Scottish and Derby Keeper Colin Boulton was fouled rather badly by a Scottish Forward ( don't remember his name or team). Colin got up and laid him out with one Punch. My Mum was so shocked, she just said OOH he's just Hit Him. And if memory serves the only thing which happened to Boulton was he got a Talking too by the Ref, Not Even A Yellow Card.
As to your second Question, Back in the 1970's I was a Young Innocent Lad who hadn't met his future Notts Supporting Wife and at the time I hadn't been seduced into following the Magpies????
Mauricio Pochettino former Spurs and Chelsea Head Coach and a possible early front Runner to Replace Gareth Southgate as England Manager, has been appointed as the Head Coach of the United States National Side. It will be Interesting to see how he Coaches the side, if he will Adopt the European Style of Football or Pep ball the Expansive brand of Football or Go in a Completely Different Direction? The thing is does the American National Side have the required Skillful Players to play the European Way, or will Poch have to Mix things Up?
Thoughts?
- Show previous comments 5 more
I don’t understand the appointment myself. I think there are far more suitable managers for the national job of the United States, but I wish him well. It’s going to be hard for him.
@Wheelbarrow repair man You mean they didn't got for Big Sam? Sorry, in jest!????
Just looking at his wiki.
And haven't we seen this style employed all over the English game, even a Notts
"Pochettino favours a very high-pressing, attacking style of football. He often employs a 4–2–3–1 formation at the clubs he manages.
While doing so, he instructs his team to build from the back, intimidate & unsettle opponents with a quick-press system and work the ball into the box."
It just begs the perennial question.
Is this the style that is the be the all or end all from now on, or can the English style make a comeback in our game?
"The English style of football is simple and easy to implement, & the British philosophy is to get the ball up to the forwards as soon as possible. The ideal British striker is physically strong, aggressive, and can power their way past defenses".

Notts Head Coach speaks about young Academy prospect, Kameron Muir.
I can remember Jermaine Pennant's debut:
"Notts County, Jan 2, 1999, Sheffield United 1:1 · Notts County · 15 years 11 months 18 days."
Yes, I am getting old ????
I've noticed that BBC Sports had an article on him, so it looks like Kameron is getting some national attention already.
I hope it's not the case, but we all know very well that PL clubs & their scouts will possibly show interest in him as the did Jermaine.
I believe it would be better for Kameron to continue to develop at Notts, where he is settled & the club can help him much more, because they know him so we'll.

Scott Lindsey: MK Dons appoint Crawley Town boss as new head coach

i hope mk dons continue to struggle, because they feel they are bigger than they are and are one of the worst clubs for thinking they deserve to be somewhere they have never been. them making it the championship has shown that they are still a small club, if they were as big as they think, that should have been a turning point.
here they are back in league two, signing other clubs successful managers hoping it will make them a good team.
MK Dons came into being by being changed from Wimbledon FC.
In my opinion that shouldn't have been allowed.
When MK Dons were formed they should have been forced to start in a much lower tier of the league pyramid to be fair to other clubs.
Clubs should no longer be allowed to move to a different Town & change their name to that Town or City.
According to Super Agent Jon Smith (one of the Co-Creators of the Premier League) as said that the case of the115 charges against Manchester City needs to be Allowed as Much Time as is needed for Arguments to be heard and Legal and Financial Ramifications Understood. Any Decision is Going to be Difficult to Come to.
Which comes Across to this writer that, if the Case Drags on and on People will lose interest in it and get Fed up hearing about it and the the Whole 115 charges will be Quietly Dropped and Swept under the Carpet. Or just to save Face City will probably get Deducted a Few Points and be Given a Hefty Fine, of a Couple of Million Pounds ( Which is Pea Nuts to their Present Owner) then Justice will Appear to have Been Done. They wont get Relegated Nor Will They have any of Their Titles Or Trophies Taken From Them. Because There Is One Rule For The Rich Premier League Clubs and Another for All Other Clubs.

I don't think there's anything which is going to Stop the Split of Football in this Country (Eventually). As you yourself have commented, there will one day be a European Super League and I Agree Whole Heartedly with you, it's only a Matter of Time. The Premier League's Big Six will Go their Own Way, and they will also take a Huge Majority of the Money with them, from both Sky and Major Sponsorship.
So will the Premier League Bend Over Backwards in hope of Trying to keep the likes of Manchester City in the Premiership? By coming to some sort of Agreement with the League Champions? Such has a Small Points deduction and a Few Million Pound Fine and perhaps a Transfer Embargo? Because I think that the Premier League needs Manchester City more that Manchester City need the Premier League.
has it been made public what all the charges are?
i am aware that they have overspent etc, i also remember reading something about them doing what chelsea did that earned them an embargo due to loaning out and signing you talent.
This is a good summary done by the BBC:

I Enjoy watching these old Matches. A time when Football wasn't just about Money and Greedy Agents hadn't got their sticky Fingers involved in the Game.
I also liked the Notts kit, proper Black & White Stripes on the Shirts, which in certain parts in the video looked Dark Blue, when the Camera went for a Close Up.
imagine the stick brian stubbs would get if he did that now, fans would be calling him blind but its easy to happen. its a great clip of notts.
Brilliant memories of a very good Notts team that defended well to keep the win intact. I would have been there, somewhere in the main stand then. Coming back is what that team was all about. Eric McManus was a good keeper! I don’t think he could see the first goal until it was too late. It wasn’t a lack of concentration like Hugh Johns claimed.
Notts Women take a midweek trip to Barnsley on Thursday to play Barnsley in a National League match kick off 19:45.
Notts will be hoping to carry on with the good form they have shown so far this season.
Can they add to their 3 wins in their first 5 matches?

Let's hear from manager Adam Dunleavy on the great win at Barnsley.
i hope peterborough slip up and we can push closer, i am glad they won their game and that they are doing well. being closer to the top half gives them something to fight for.
Burton Albion sign Birmingham's Donovan and Chelsea's Stutter on loan
Donovan looked very lively. Perhaps, one for #Notts to look at

Highly rated at Birmingham. I imagine he'll be back in at Blues, when Luke Harris' loan ends at the end of the season
I don't know much about him, but he sounds like someone worth keeping an eye on, and it will be interesting to see how he ends up doing with Burton and back with his parent club, Birmingham City.
he will be one to watch out for, having come through the chelsea youth system he should have something about him. i dont watch much football above our level, so i dont know of him either.
As I said @Chris the Club should take part of the Blame for these Rumors with their Silence regarding Jodi's injury. How many times have we Fans been told, the injury is being accessed (I think it's three) and with Stuart seemingly trying to tip toe around the question, is how theses Rumors start. The Longer the Fans hear nothing regarding Jodi the more likely the Rumors will start and Grow.
As you said it may start out as a Whisper, someone will say they saw Jodi on Crutches that's Bad. Then someone will add Jodi had to go and see a Specialist, then Yeah and Remember it took ages for the Club to tell fans, about Matty Palmer and Cedwyn Scott and look how Bad their Injuries were. Then Jodi's had those injury problems before. Plus Notts have signed that player on loan to cover Jodi's position And that's How the Rumor starts, and gets Embellished more and more. In a situation like Jodi's the Club should announce a Date when they will give the Fans a full and proper up date regarding Jodi's injury and this May stop Rumors flying around.
well the club cant come out and say they dont know, they would want to have all the facts. whatever the media team might say, could only be used in negative peoples blame game. its big news, so they had to handle it well. the issue is those who want to act like they know everything.
i am glad that people like chris wait for the facts, because it shows credibility.
some of the people who repeated rumours might be innocent, as they may have been given false information but at the same time you just cant say anything. i do think its disrespectful towards jodi too.
We didn't know that Jatta or Robertson were fit to play a full game last night till the team sheet came out.
It's good that the opposition don't know until an hour before.
