Luke Williams calls it straight down the line. I thought his decision to go with experience was smart, but it wasn't in hindsight. It could have worked, but once we go down I think that's where we need the quality and speed to turn things around.

I didn't realise that Connell Rawlinson was on the left; I just thought he had drifted wide when I first watched the highlights.

I still think he should have put the ball out for a throw in.

We need to improve our defence and address the problems at the back.

I don’t get what he meant about people mocking him when asked about scoring from a corner. He seemed quite angry, who’s been mocking him?

The performance was subpar, to say the least. We crafted some fantastic goals, but they were sadly overshadowed by our abysmal defending. It simply wasn't up to scratch, and I'm at a loss as to why we faltered so badly.

    3. Piethagoram

Actually, I wonder if there is footage on their 1st penalty from another angle? Rawlo should not have been playing left back.... I'm not sure Bostock actually fouled the guy, just a convenient leg to collide with and fall over?

It looked clear to me in those highlights, unfortunately, whilst the contact seemed minimal - I do believe the correct decision was made.

      NpQ8Lbc.png

The AFC Wimbledon player doesn't seem to be going down at this stage and falls naturally to me, watching the footage slowly, I believe there's enough contact. I also watched an AFC Wimbledon fan vlog that showed Sam Slocombe as an unsung hero with the relentless one on one's he had.

  3. So what’s everybody doing or (have done) this weekend? Off to see Notts thrash Uncle Bulgaria and Co? Quiet weekend at home? Christmas shopping? Let’s hear what you’re up to.

I’m excited because tomorrow we are going away for a week to one of our favourite haunts Whitby, a nice break for Mrs. T. who hasn’t been to well and something to get me out of my black pit I seem to be stuck in lately.

So come on what you up to?

We made it to Whitby after struggling through quite a lot of traffic around York. The cottage we are staying in is very nice, it’s an old Railway workers cottage right on the railway near the station. It’s a topsy turvy place on two levels the bedrooms are downstairs.

Was Aden Baldwin suspended for the Wimbledon match today? I thought Jodi Jones had also been suspended but started.

I think when he doesn't play, we miss Baldwin. Not just because of his reading of the game, but his pace. He's very quick for a centre back and our best player in that position IMO.

Can these experts figure out why Notts crumbles and concedes matches in the way we do? Yes, we missed Aden Baldwin today, but we need to defend better.

i think hes mostly fair with what he says, he did well to get bradford to change things in the second half. they were incredibly poor though, their goals were somewhat fortunate but i still praise their fight.

they should be fine under graham alexander.

    2. Chris

      Chris

I listened to what Graham Alexander had to say; it's mostly good but a few biased comments.

For me, Bradford have been the worst team I have seen at Meadow Lane this season. Their first half was dreadful, yes they came back into it, but that largely came as a result of us not pushing or holding onto the ball as we did. Their changes were smart, they came out with fire, but that doesn't take away from how poor they were.

I think Alexander will improve them, I don't see the Bradford fans being as impatient as the self-important MK Don's elite.

  4. Is it just me or does anyone else get fed up with seeing so call “bargains” advertised for Black Friday which incidentally started last week with “Pre Black Friday Deal” this week is “Black Friday WEEK”! no doubt next week we’ll see Black Friday week extended with fabulous “Post Black Friday” deals.

    What a load of b*ll#*ks.

Isn't this another American idea import ?

Yes it is @super_ram this is from Wikipedia:

      Quote

Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It traditionally marks the start of the Christmas shopping season in the United States. Many stores offer highly promoted sales at discounted prices and often open early, sometimes as early as midnight[2]or even on Thanksgiving. Some stores' sales continue to Monday ("Cyber Monday") or for a week ("Cyber Week").

Black Friday has been the busiest shopping day of the year in the United States.[3][4][5]

Have you got your Thanksgiving Turkey in yet? 😂

    3. allardyces tash

      allardyces tash

I don’t participate in Black Friday, it’s all nonsense to me and I rarely consider taking advantage of a sale. There’s just no incentive for me to buy items.

    4. Chris

      Chris

I find stores to be too stressful. If it wasn't for an appointment the other week I wouldn't have gone into B&M and The Range after.

Amazon is useful for picking up bargains.

You can use a site called Camel, Camel, camel to check if deals are good or fluff.  https://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/

Although, Amazon is well known for playing around with their prices and, giving sales/30% off. If you can take it right, it can be useful, but I really don't pay much attention to any of the sales throughout the year. If I want something, I will compare prices and wait for when the best time is to buy it.

i have never been, today will be my first time but with their troubles and the rise of mk dons. afc wimbledon is one team i have wanted to visit and support. if i get chance to go in their club shop before kick off, i will pick up some things to give them some support. they seem a genuine club.

    2. Chris

      Chris

Some time ago, I watched a fan made documentary about Wimbledon's rise up to their collapse and reform.

One of the clips they showed was of Notts playing them, where the challenges flown in and became quite wild. I know the late 80s and 90s Wimbledon were known for being dirty, but I found it interesting to learn about how they rose through the leagues and became football's biggest underdogs.

The information shared above is extremely valuable and provides important insights.

Watching Jack Grealish was a delight, his confidence and skill even back then were beyond his years. There’s not a Notts fan who wouldn’t be pleased to have seen him play for Notts, and it’s wonderful to see him regularly expressing his affection for our club.

    3. liampie

      liampie

@super_ram he would get kicked and fouled a lot, he would just get back up, smile and then do something no other player on the pitch could have done. his quality even at that stage was something we did not quite use to our advantage. yet i think he kept us within a fight staying in league one. good memories of seeing jack grealish play for notts.

    4. Chris

      Chris

I swear we have seen this posted before, no issues if so - I just feel like déjà vu here.

Jack Grealish was an incredible talent, very honoured to have seen him play for Notts. He and Callum McGregor became the best of friends during their time here together. McGregor always said Grealish would go on to boss the Premier League.

    1. menzinho

      menzinho

I've included a loan player, can't really leave Grealish out! And I'll go for a 3-4-3 formation as I'll have Luke Williams as the gaffer!

                   Liddle       Edwards       Thompson

      Davies          Palmer           Bishop             Sheehan

That's not bad for a young(ish) supporter! My proper memories of Notts start from about 2006 when I was a bit older watching us but I can't really include anyone between 2006-2009 as we were awful!

While I’m only vaguely familiar with the name, it seems that clubs are increasingly appointing managers who, in previous seasons, wouldn’t have been considered for first team positions. This strategy could either yield success or result in disappointment. Being a good coach doesn’t necessarily equate to being a good manager. However, it’s heartening to see someone from Nottingham being given the opportunity to prove their mettle.

    2. Chris

Everyone starts somewhere but this seems a good appointment for Michael Skubala, so I think it's a good thing for Lincoln City. Hopefully, he can hit the ground running.

I saw that on the highlights, National League North defending at its finest!

In the early 70's an opposition defender, on the left side of the Baseball Ground pitch and facing away away from his goal, sliced a clearance that ballooned into the air and forced his own goalkeeper to desperately scramble back to stop the ball going into his own  net.The name of that defender was Robert Moore.Yes,the same Bobby Moore who captained England in the 1966 Word Cup finals.I saw him play quite a few times and his poise and unflappability stood out.So it just shows that  these laughable episodes can and do happen to the best.

      Two things....

What was the keeper jumping about like that? Is he in fact a wet fish? That's some iffy keeping, yes, the angle of the footage might not do him any justice, but it is rather weird how he jumps and positions himself.

Sliced kicks are very common; it looks like the ball might be slightly wet - I don't know if it had been raining, but that could make it difficult to make instant content. A more experienced player may have just tried to bring the ball down and shield it. My second point, the keeper in my eyes should also be sent off or at least give a yellow card. The lunge he made was wreckless and uncalled-for, his boots could have seriously injured the attacking player. It was also two footed, made without control and well beyond the ball having crossed the line.

Imagine if everywhere did one kind act towards someone else, like one person got to travel using the London Underground for free. Then that extends to a coffee shop giving someone an act of kindness, it's not about giving but making the point that commercialism can be forgotten.

Soon, she'll have white hair, resembling the manager of the England ladies, or perhaps even worse... Bald from the stress of the game.

I really hope this proves to be a decision on merit, rather than a gimmick for the media headlines.

No problem @allardyces tash. I am a long standing advocate on this board that our defence is no where near good enough, having been promoted with the 2nd worst defence in the NL last season, based on the 30% of the time we didn't have the ball.

Aside from our defence, both our main keepers are making too many mistakes. I am a strong supporter that Tiernan Brooks gets his chance now

@Piethagoram I believe many fans would concur with you about Tiernan Brooks. It would be fantastic to see him as our first choice, but I think he’s still a bit off from that. Perhaps once Sam Slocombe retires or moves on, he’ll be in a better position to compete with Aiden Stone. However, it seems like he’s being groomed for a long-term role.

Yeah, shooting himself is rather quite stupid but it's actually quite sad he's not had a purposeful career to get into after his football one didn't take off. It's hard for young players, especially when they get rejected, I know from having a friend who was in an academy as a 17/18 year old you dedicate your time and effort into getting a pro-deal and even when you get one that's just the start, it's still incredibly tough to make it. Life after football is not something you want to think about but realistically you do need a fall back plan.

Anyway I'm just glad he wasn't able to cause any serious harm to some innocent person with the shotgun.

    3. Anti-Red

      Anti-Red

Ah, Romello Nangle - what a character! I remember him from his time at Notts. He was always a bit of a wild card, but he had a lot of heart and gave his all on the pitch. Shame things didn't work out for him in the end, and it's a shame he's resorted to crime.

    4. Chris

      Chris

He seemed a nice lad, when I used to pictures for Notts - he always seemed happy and polite. I had heard there was a reputation, with his background but I always hoped he would come good. Was it Iceland where Notts toured and he scored that wonder goal?

His troubles now may very well come from who he's around and the pressure of succeeding in football.

Even the money he was on back then would have been nice for a young lad, when you earn a decent wage and lose it, it's hard for some to accept it. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why he fell into selling drugs. I feel for him, it's daft and wrong but it shows how people can dip into bad areas.

Having moved from the KOP to the Pavis Stand a few seasons ago, I can see that there’s room for improvement in the latter. However, it’s reassuring to know that the club is cognisant of the areas that need attention. With the additional revenue, it’s crucial that we make smart investments off the pitch to facilitate progress on it. After all, a club’s success isn’t just about what happens during the 90 minutes, it’s also about the decisions made behind the scenes.

The bar looks brilliant, there’s a real trend with turning containers into homes and other useful things. I’ve heard that the Navi has a container where their car park used to be, right near the main gates. This should compete with that, hopefully the owners start to secure land around the ground. It’s always handy to plan ahead, plenty of projects like this could bring in revenue, much like the peddling centre.

The new bar is a clever idea, it should increase profits while making it easier to get served. Fans will make the short journey, even in the cold, just to get a pint, so it’s a win-win situation.

I really struggle with Wrexham and their owners.  Why do they have to be so nice?  We had a great chat with a load of their fans as we walked back to the car after the game at Meadow Lane and they were really good, grounded people.  I think that they have 2 types of fan; the new fans who are there for the glory and are more obnoxious, and the old fans, who like us are so happy to be back in the EFL and are really very pleasant.  Their owners also seem to be good types too and not like your typical rich owner.  I may have to lift my ban on Deadpool!

Well done to Cedwyn Scott and the Wrexham owners. I don’t mind the banter between our two clubs because there’s a level of respect from most people.

I would prefer owners who are clever, courteous, and also passionate about other clubs any day of the week over those who treat their fans and clubs poorly. Good owners are hard to come by, so best of luck to Wrexham.

Who’s watching to see how Jodi performs? I hope he doesn’t get injured. 🙏

Malta demonstrated decent form at times, but their control and first touch were lacking. England commenced the game on shaky ground and appeared significantly worse at times. There was no need for unnecessary ball play, but credit to Malta for making a contest of it. The final score doesn’t accurately represent the match, and I don’t believe Declan Rice’s goal should have been disallowed. Harry Kane was also fouled for a penalty. The referees were the most disappointing aspect of the game.

i thought england were quite poor at times they looked like did not want to go forward early on, which deserves credit to malta. i think they back off pressing england which gave them more confidence to attack and at this stage england just grew in confidence. malta had a troubled time defending but i think they should be happy overall, i do think jodi jones should have started because he would have gave them some real quality going forward.

England could have certainly performed better. I believe Harry Kane was left alone for much of the early game, which seemed to benefit Malta more than us. We started to improve once he received support. However, I’m not concerned about the performance or the fact that England only scored twice. The task was completed and that’s all that matters.

so what if its a nato country? what are they going to do ban it or force another war by doing something stupid? it does say a lot about putin that he or someone he knows can just cruise around in a yacht whilst russia continues to attack ukraine.

Can’t they just sink it and blame it on a stray Russian missile or a rogue drone?

  11. It’s time to cast your nominations for Member of the Month and Team Member of the Month. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognise and appreciate the individuals who have made significant contributions to our community.

We want to narrow down the Member of the Month candidates to six names, and the Team Member of the Month candidates to four names. When casting your nomination, consider the members who have been particularly helpful, friendly, or have provided valuable content. For the Team Member of the Month, think about those who have gone above and beyond in their roles.

I'm overwhelmed but grateful to see myself mentioned so many times . I have to say ,though, that I came on here in the first place to try and help  @Chris promote this site.I stayed here because I enjoy being here.I wouldn't have continued as much if it wasn't for the efforts of ALL contributors and how welcome I've been made by so many friendly folks on here..Having said all that I have to mention  @Chrisagain who(with outside help) has worked his socks off  trying to get this site back up to speed after the cowardly ,stupid attack PoN recently suffered.I know how close this site came to just disappearing. So I have to say a big,big THANK YOU to @Piethagoram for posting consistently all kinds of interesting items, especially during those recent difficult times. The same goes for @Fan of Big Tone.I would like to add  @DangerousSausage for continuing with The Prediction League(even though he often includes a certain team down the A52).I agree with all names already mentioned and there are so many  others that I could or should add .I will also repeat what has already been mentioned above, that this is just a bit of fun and ALL POSTERS,however infrequent are highly valued and appreciated. This topic is going to get harder too.

For the team, I’d nominate @Chris. For members, I’d choose @Piethagoram. Both are straightforward nominations.
