It's Matchday.

Notts County Women v Sutton Coldfield Town. 2pm kick off.

Notts are at home today at Coronation Park Eastwood.

Notts will be looking to put in a good performance against Sutton Coldfield today.

Sutton are one of the teams in this league that Notts are capable of beating.

Nottinghamshire need a good result to stave off the threat of relegation. They are currently third from bottom.

It will be a tough match as Surrey are the table toppers and are favourites to win it.

Surrey have won the toss and will bat first. Play begins at 11am.

Notts team below????

My grandfather always encouraged me to support Notts. He told me that we should look after each other and that being a fan means embracing the fanbase. When I was younger, it didn’t mean much, but it does now.

I sit in the Kop with my parents, and sometimes my grandfather comes too.

Notts is all I know about football. Some of our fans make games more fun when they joke with you. I see this on PON. I’m glad my parents let me be part of the site.

I’d love to hear other people’s stories about supporting Notts, especially if you go to games with your family. We are a family club.

  • When I was a kid, it was normal for families to support both Nottingham teams. My father and his family would often go to whichever team was at home. I wasn’t interested in the other team, so I found Notts to be more suited to me. That’s how most of my family ended up. Forest became quite violent, whereas Notts was seen as a much more family-oriented club. My grandchildren aren’t Notts fans, but my own children grew up supporting the club.

Spending the past few seasons meeting up with @liampie and @CliftonMagpie has been enjoyable, especially as Liam has expressed a desire to attend more away games. I started going with my family when I was younger, but my parents do not often go now. When they do, they usually sit in the Pavis or enjoy hospitality. I much prefer the Kop and being surrounded by the lively part of the stand.

My family usually goes to about 10 games a season. But when I was in my early teens, I started going with a friend, and I haven't regretted it.

Notts has changed a lot. When I first started going, the club was still trying to adapt to life back in League Two. I remember some of the time we spent in League One, but not much.

Good morning, it’s a Bank Holiday Monday and the weather is looking good, my car is going for an MoT tomorrow so I’ll give it a wash and hoover today to smarten it up a bit.

I hope you working folk make the most of your extra day off and the weather stays fine, when your retired it’s just another day, we don’t generally go anywhere at bank holiday as everywhere is so crowded.

Have a great day whatever your doing.

Grandson Fred made me picture on his phone I might use it for my avatar.

    A day of relaxation today.

Today, I made homemade pizzas for everyone. Ava requested a stuffed crust, while Jake and Ellie devoured two 12-inch pizza each, topped with delectable cheesy bites. Then a half-and-half 12 inch pizza which I shared with @cheeky~k8.

Made the dough before going to see @super_ram.

We talked, then went to try to tidy the garden up a bit by breaking down branches, which was good. So, I definitely got in some exercise today!

Came home, rolled the dough out and in went four homemade pizzas.

@Chris I hope the physio appointment went well and you get some relief from your back pain.

I've been given new exercises to do, and all three seemed to make a difference when doing them. It's just a balancing act as I do tend to tire easily, but I am very happy with it. A little pain doesn't bother me, I have arthritis in my joints already. The back pain is the worst though, but I am determined to make the most of what I can do.

So, pretty pleased with it. Thanks, Tony!

It's time to vote for the Pride of Nottingham's Player of the Season. We have narrowed down the choices. This is not my choice, but it is in line with the Facebook group, which will also count votes. Twitter will count votes soon.

Feel free to explain your decision. Tell us why you chose that player.

This season, the MAGnets topic is returning, but this time, the focus will only be on away games and cup matches where the possibility of playing the same team again this season is unlikely.

This Saturday, Notts will travel to the County Ground to play Swindon Town.

I will start with Colin Calderwood. A defender who began his career with Mansfield, then moved to Swindon Town in 1985. He became a regular Premier League centre-back before moving to our neighbours across the river [Forest]. He came on loan to Notts in the same season, 2001, making five appearances.

Let's stick to naming one at a time for now, please. So, we can see how many members can contribute to this. :)

Here is the match discussion too.

Please feel free to join in and don't forget to share your thoughts on the match.

It must have been thrilling to witness this achievement. I believed that Macaulay Langstaff would be the one to score over 100 goals, perhaps even breaking Les Bradd’s all-time record.

On this day, in 1971, Tony Hateley surpassed Jackie Sewell as Notts County’s leading scorer with his 105th goal in a 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers. The 1971/72 season was Hateley’s last at Meadow...

  • Tony Hateley will always be remembered for his goalscoring ability. He was a complete forward in the old-fashioned sense. His second time at Notts felt like a great homecoming. I wasn't there for his first time, but I've heard many stories from my family about how good he was with his feet and head.

Tony Hateley was a name my grandfather often mentioned; he would tell me about the likes of him and Tommy Lawton. It's hard to picture as a young kid, how Notts fortunes had changed and why we weren't a bigger club despite having some of the finest players in the game. Hateley was more than a traditional forward; he was very good at attacking teams and only needs a sight of goal to have a chance.

My grandfather said he was brilliant at striking the ball first time and had a habit of doing well with his head.

He was certainly good with his head, he could leap like a salmon head and shoulders above defenders, if you put a good ball in the box you knew there was a good chance Hateley would stick his head on it and score.

Playing football as a kid on the local rec we used to say “stick it on my Hateley” the word Hateley became another name for your head.

Firstly, it's important that we keep Crowley and Jones

I would say, another forward needed and a backup GK, if Stone were to leave. The Bart man would be a good choice for Notts

You've earned your retirement, Paul Hart. Thank you for your contributions to Notts, especially your work with the youth setup.

He did a lot in his short time whilst working with our academy, although a lot of that effort had to be restarted from scratch when Alan Hardy messed up the youth teams status. However, the coaching staff are a lot better than what you would believe for a League Two. They have the future hopefuls in year groups, working on their ability and trying to get them to take as much information on board.

Paul Hart deserves to enjoy his retirement.

Cup action comes to Grange Park Thursday when Notts County Women meet Nottm Forest Women in a local derby kick off 7:45pm.

  • Fitness can be a big part of football, and the level you play can be a big part in that working when the games reach those higher minutes. When you face a team that has a good level of stamina and ability, you will naturally start to give them more space, then more time on the ball and becomes a matter of trying to defend. I don't think it's a bad result, I am also pleased by the goalless score at half-time.

There's a gap between us and Forest; our women's team should feel encouraged and not downhearted.

I feel a bit bad that I am struggling to cover them, but I will get there once I have my system in place. They deserve as much help with promoting them as a club, and I am proud we have a women's team that is coming from the grass roots.

The Carabao Cup (League Cup) used to be a Cup competition that was worth winning, but many teams now, especially in the  early rounds, field weakened teams such as squad players or B team players.

Is it time that the Carabao Cup format was changed?

For example, those teams that qualify for Europe could be excluded & clubs from the National League could be included.

By excluding those clubs playing in Europe, the competition would be equalled out somewhat, & including National league sides would give much needed revenue to those clubs in that league.

Interest in the competition has waned so much that even supporters don't care much if their team is beaten in the early rounds.

Does anyone have an alternative solution?

For the last 50 years I’ve driven a manual car, the other day I tried a brief test drive in an automatic, I found it a bit weird.

My question is have you swopped from manual to automatic? How long did it take to get used to it? Did you regret it?

I’m a bit cautious at spending thousands then finding I didn’t like it, I’m also wondering if Mrs. T would cope as well, she does drive far but she likes to keep her hand in by driving locally.

  • I drive a manual car, but I believe that as we get older, it’s easier to switch to an automatic. I don’t want to sound rude. I would make the change myself because it would be more comfortable and makes driving simpler. Is that part of your reason for switching? Stick with it; it might take a few weeks, but once you’re used to it, you won’t notice the difference.

when i was learning it was suggested to choose automatic but i could not take to it. i dont know, you will probably adjust with time but it felt strange for me that i had no control over the gears. so, i went with manual and im very happy.

I was recommended consider an automatic because my legs do tend to have a mind of their own. I'm pretty confident I could pass in a manual car tomorrow if I had a test, but with the way my disability affects me, I lost the confidence to pursue it. I did hope by now, I would be in a position to drive. @super_pie, is now looking to drive, and I think he'll do very well too.

When I don't think my legs will hold me back, I might actually look at an automatic.

Keep us in the loop with how you get on, Tone. I am sure you will adjust to it.

  • Pukka pies are about the only thing I would eat at a football game if I were desperate. The hot dogs are rather bland, so if the club were to look for a nicer replacement, a German sausage could do the trick.

It's money the club is missing out on and would be one of the easiest things they could change. The tea bars should have the demand to cater to fans and make money without charging ridiculous amounts.

@DangerousSausage, £4.50 for a good German sausage wouldn't be a bad price to pay. The hot dogs at games tend to be terrible. They have little taste and wouldn't be worth the price. Notts would do well to consider shaking things up inside the ground. The van located in the Kop that sells chips gets plenty of business despite complaints about the price and quality. Just around the back of the car park, there's a portable bar. So, the club sees that there is money to be made, just not in the food department inside the ground.

It could be wurst.... I know Notts used to re-heat the unsold hot dogs in the past, I hope this practice has stopped because it's the reason why they tended to be very rubbery. A good hot dog is a nice thing to fill the void with hunger at a football game. It does seem like other footballing countries are more creative when it comes to what food is served on a match day.

Notts manages to make simple items like chips appear overpriced.

Clubs aimed at drawing large crowds also attract affluent individuals who are willing to pay a premium when needed. I wouldn't, never will either.

Congratulations Jodi.

  • Maybe the younger readers won't realise what an earthquake his appointment was. He was England manager just three years before. His career did taper off a bit at the end but at the time he was still pure box office, a household name all over Europe. We hadn't seen the likes of it since Tommy Lawton joined, and probably won't again. From his point of view, I doubt he was proud of his spell at Notts, especially as he'd fallen for a "fake sheikh" in a sting just a few years before. But all the same, he stuck around when Munto fell apart and did his best to make sure the club would be in safe hands afterwards. Notts fans appreciate him for it.

To me he always came across as a thoughtful and humble man. RIP Sven and thanks for the memories.

Sven will always be remembered fondly by Notts County fans. His arrival made waves and brought more attention to the club that had been there for some time. His passing is very sad, but it shows you can make every minute count and ensure your own narrative is acknowledged instead of that of the media.

    Rest in Peace, Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Time to get the crystal balls out again! These games kick off at 3pm on Saturday, and remember your joker!

As you may be aware, OFGEM are going to raise the Energy Cap by 10% on first of October.

Some good info on this video by Martin Lewis.

  • It makes sense to join a fixed tariff. However, if prices were likely to go down, people would be locked in. Unfortunately, prices won’t go down. The UK needs to control energy prices. Martin Lewis is brilliant with his financial advice.

It does make a lot of sense to beat the price rise, although not everyone will be able to do this. I do hope something changes to make it easier for people, because the cost of living does make things harder. I watched the news earlier, and it had a segment on this and the water price. Trying to justify giving the stakeholders money from the profits, at the expense of people who can't do much on a daily basis is just wrong.

Meanwhile, these "stakeholders" make so much money, they don't have to worry.

"Cup shirts" are yet another scourge of modern football, but perennial Bundesliga strugglers VfL Bochum have managed to take them to a new level.

This summer, Bochum unveiled a special light blue cup shirt with "HG 4630 Bochum" printed on the arm. This was part of a sponsorship with the famous singer Herbert Grönemeyer, who comes from the city. About 4,000 fans ordered the shirts, only to be told they would have to wait until October for delivery.

Last weekend, Bochum played in the first round of the German Cup. As you guessed, they lost. And they weren't even allowed to wear the shirts due to a colour clash...

  • The teams that sell cup shirts tend to be in the Champions League. Having an alternative home shirt for cup games is unnecessary, but at least they're used for a set number of games as there's a group stage. The German cup, on the other hand, is a straight knockout competition, meaning that Bochum's cup campaigns for the season ended in August...

I'm not in favour of this kind of thing. I don't see the point. Some clubs do put patterns on their regular season shirts and have them for bigger games, but there's no reason to try and make more money from your supporters for a shirt that will be difficult to buy in the first place.

Lucas looks to be another signing for Notts, where they are looking towards the future.

Director Richard Montague said:- Quote:“Sometimes, in the transfer market, an opportunity presents itself which is too good to pass up, and the board are in agreement that this is one of those instances.

“Lucas is an outstanding young defender who has huge potential to improve over the duration of his contract, so we’re very excited to bring him to Meadow Lane".

The fact that these Robots can walk unaided looks awesome.

Technology seems to be excelerating at such a pace now.

It could be just a simple gimmick, but it's a very clever one.

is this believable?
