  • I was assuming that because he didn’t feature againstΒ Wealdstone, we may have dropped our interest, will wait to see if he plays this weekend.Β

The only trialist I can find that did play the other night was Robbie Cundy, who I know has been training with Notts.

It’s possible that Notts have seen enough and are now trying to shield him from the gaze of other clubs while initiating discussions with his agent. Notts may have lost interest, or alternatively, Alex Kirk might not see a regular football opportunity for himself. We probably won’t know until he signs with a team, but he does seem to meet the criteria.

Ok I'm about to Open A Can Of Worms Here. Who in your Opinion my fellow PON members.

Β Is the Greatest Player Ever to Pull on a Notts Shirt?

This Topic may have been Covered before, if it as Please Indulge Me. I will assume there will be many different Answers because of the Wide range of Fans of different ages who have Watched Notts over a Number of Years. But it will be Nice to hear from the Young Fans as well as the Veteran Fans. So lets hear from all Magpie Fans who is the Greatest Notts Player in Your Opinion?

    @Chris

@Fan of Big ToneΒ Chee I Wonder Who He'll Pick ? It Will Be One Hell Of A Tough Decision For Him????

Well of course Big Tony Hateley is my all time favourite player but of course there are many other great players who have graced the black and white stripes.

I guess Tommy Lawton has got to be among the greatest if not THE greatest player for us.

Others I would mention would be Jackie Sewell, Don Masson, Les Bradd and latterly Macauley Langstaff of course.

My earliest memories of Notts revolve around us being in League 2 and struggling so it's slim pickings for me and others from the younger generation. The munto season bought in some fantastic players albeit under false pretences, but had it not been we probably wouldn't have seen the likes ofΒ Ben Davies and Kasper Schmeichel. Agree Macca is the most recent best player, his goal record was incredible.

The departure of Macca from Meadow Lane was a Huge Disappointment to all Magpie Fans. But should it have been Such A Shock ? Looking Back over the last few Months of last Season perhaps there were already Pointers that Macca was Leaving. The Most ProminentΒ  being the signing of Alassana Jatta. In the January Transfer window when Most Fans would have thought the signing of a couple of Defenders either on loan or a short term Contract would have been the Club's Top Priority, but No an unknown Striker from the Brothers other Team comes to the Lane.

The Question is why? Notts had Macca, David McGoldrick and Junior Morias as a Strike Force. and Cedwyn Scott was making progress from his injury, so what's with the signing of a New Striker? Unless of course a Deal had been Struck and Macca was going to pastures New. Was it already decided that Macca would leave at the End of the Season? And the signing of Jatta was to get the Player ready and Used to playing in the English League. It appears his signing was an Excellent One his Five goals argues well for the Future, Big Things are going to be expected of him this coming season.

The Club playing it's cards very close to it's Chest start laying a False trail of Hope for the Fans. Remarks like It will Take A Massive Deal to take Macca away from the Lane. Macca states he wants to take Notts into League 1 and then the Club make Macca Captain. I'm Not Saying Macca didn't want to Lead Notts into League 1, he may have even been in the Dark about the Move as We the Fans Were.

Why would Notts not say anything about a possible move? Imagine the effect on Season Ticket Sales if it had been announced at the end of Last Season that Macca was on his way. It May Not been a Massive number but Enough to make an Impact on Revenue (who Knows?)Β  Β Many rumours were doing the rounds a whole List of Clubs were being Quoted as Possible Destinations and Transfer Fees were Priced from Β£1.5 million to Β£2.3 million at one stage. Then the Millwall interest Comes to light and things seemed to be Wrapped Up Awfully Fast.

So was the Figure of Β£750,000 +Ad on's (hopefully) agreed in January with Millwall on the understanding, that Macca would remain at the Lane until the season was Finished? Whatever was agreed or Not lets hope Macca goes on to Great things and has a Great Career. We Notts Fans should be Grateful we had Macca with us last Season, because Many of us in the stands thought Macca would have been Snapped up after his Epic 42 Goal National League Campaign..

I think most Notts Fans knew that last Season would be Jim's Swan Song as a Player at the Lane. But Like Many others I Did hope a Position on the Coaching side could have been found for Jim at Notts. The Guys Experience and Fighting Attitude would have given Notts a Massive Boost, both to the Senior Squad and the Academy.

For Me it was the Speed in which Macca's move came about, that made me wonder if some sort of Deal had been Agreed a lot Earlier than the Off Season. Thus resulting in the Paltry sum of Β£750,000 Macca went for. Hopefully any add on's will Result in a Big Chunk of Cash Coming into the Clubs Coffers.

I believe Notts would have permitted Macaulay Langstaff to receive such applause if they had faith or had agreed on a deal for his services at that point. The rumoured sum could be entirely incorrect, and there could be addons in place that increase it. It’s unlikely that we will know either this or when the deal began.

    1 minute ago, Chris said:

You make a valid point about Junior Morias. He had some time and performed decently, but he was frequently reported as injured or carrying a knock. When we were linked with Jatta, it appeared to be a move to potentially provide cover for Macaulay Langstaff and also to give him additional support up front. Morias seems to be a very fast player, so we now have players with different qualities.

I think the club felt the need to sign Jatta. We were desperate for better defenders, and we invested a significant amount in bringing Jatta into the team. His height is something we’ve been missing since Kyle Wootton moved to Stockport. I can envision the club seeking to recruit a striker again come January. As for Junior Morias, we do need to see more of him.

Junior does seem to have had a Raw Deal at Notts so far, he's never been given much of a chance to show his capabilities and so far I think he's scored a single goal in the Matches he's played in. Now Macca's gone he could get the Chance he's been waiting for.

i dont think the deal was ever in the pipeline until they came forward, i am not sure notts had even rejected a bid. i think that was scaremongers trying to wave the negative storm of clicks to get them some ad revenue and site visits. i think if macca was going to leave, we would not have seen him training with us.

the fact he was here for a brief time before leaving leaves me to think it was a very quick move, where millwall managed to attract maccas interest and i can understand the lure of championship football.

Why fans would want to make these sick chants I’ll never know. ????

  • The majority of individuals who engage in this behaviour are fans who take their team’s rivalry to an extreme level, even going as far as to sew Stone Island labels onto their garments. They represent the most undesirable kind of supporters any club could have.

I think some people think it's banter, but in fact it's sickening. I think these days, a lot of stuff which isn't "banter" gets given that title as an attempt to make it acceptable or to normalise it.

I have been at games where I have heard these types of chants and comments.

Ideally more banning orders would be given.

you have to be a sick person and not a real football fan to chant sickening stuff like the article mentions, thankfully a lot of fans come together over the passing and its just small pockets of people i would suspect looking to be controversial. they are not football fans but people looking to get a reaction out of opposition fans.

this behaviour is not the sign of someone wanting to support their club.

Back in my School Days (when we used Chalk to write on Slate) I remember one Christmas I got a Charles Buchanan Football Book and in a Section about Clubs Nicknames it was stated Notts County were Called the Lambs? This I told a School mate (an Ardent Notts Fan) who declared that was a Total Load Of Rubbish. But I replied that was what it said in my Football Book. Yeah well you're Football Book is Wrong.

And to Prove his point Terry (that's my School mate) Brings in a Notts Football Programme, opens the it up and the in Capital Letters it says

MAGPIES MESSAGE. So why the Lambs? And when was the Clubs Nickname changed from the Lambs to the Magpies? And was there any Main Reason for the Change?

Β

  • @Wheelbarrow repair man Colin Slater told me that he didn't believe Notts had any connections to The Lamb gang. I have spoken to a lot of club historians and knowledgable people and I do believe it was more down to footballing reasons. With Notts having played in what I was told was a plain white shirt before 1891.

    Notts-County.jpg?format=750w

It's a good job we didn't re-think our nickname in 1936; we could be called 'The Free Birds' or the "Burgulars". Obviously a joke, but I have always thought it was interesting how we went from a white shirt, to a bumblebee orange and black horizontal stripe kit, to what looks like the Netherlands to the infamous chocolate kit.

I think it's an obvious sign that we were experimenting and trying to find our real identity.

    @Chris

The Connections between the Club and the Lambs was told to me and it was like somebody had said this and somebody else said That and by the time I heard about the Story it had probably been Told and Retold Quite a Few Times with things added to it along the way. That's why I said before I didn't think the Club would associate with a Gang of Thugs.

White shirts before 1891 could that have something To Do with the Lambs nickname? After all Lambs wool is White, in a Majority of Cases.

Awhile ago my Mum passed away and going through her house sorting things out, I came across an Old Chest of Drawers and one of the draws wouldn't open properly. I managed to get my hand in side the Draw and something right at the back was wedged in such a way the Draw stuck. I managed to work it Free and pulled it out it was a letter that I hadn't seen in 50 odd years and didn't know my Mum still had, I would think in was put in the Drawer and Forgotten about. So here's the Unhappy Football Memory that LetterΒ  Contained.

In 1966 England were Crowned Kings of the Footballing World and four years later they set out to defend that Title in Mexico. As the Tournament approached all the papers were full of different things about England, and the News Of The World Ran a Competition WIN AN ALL EXPENCE FREE TRIP TO MEXICO.Β  What you had to do was pick an England Squad of 24 Players who you think will Go to Mexico. So I sat down and went through the Names of Players who had made the England Squad of 32 Players and I had to Whittle them down to 24. The Winner of the Competition would be the contestant who came the nearest to Choosing the Squad picked by Football Experts, EX-Players and Football Journalists. So off went My Entry Posted First Class. Around a Fortnight later I Got a Letter. CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE THE WINNER OF OUR ENGLAND IN MEXICO Competition!!

Me and My Dad were Going to Mexico to watch England in the World Cup. Only we Didn't, a couple of days later I received the Letter I Now held in My Hand. I Had Been Disqualified From The Competition. The Reason Why?Β

I WAS TO YOUNG (13) and shouldn't have been Allowed to Enter the Competition in the First Place. That Letter bought back An Unhappy Memory. But I Did Get Some Satisfaction, from getting a Match and Setting It Alight and Watching It Burn To A Cinder.

I have indeed watched Notts live with my Sons. The First time I brought my Eldest to Meadow Lane was with Tickets given to his School by the Club. In my Younger Days I did go and watch Derby at the Old Baseball Ground and even on one (just one mind) occasion I went to the City Ground and watched Forest get thumped 3-0 by Arsenal the year the Gunners did the Double, 70/71? I think it was.

It’s disappointing that they didn’t honour your win, even with your parents’ permission. I don’t see why your age should have been an issue, especially with your dad’s support. It’s simply wrong that they let you enter, announced you as a winner, and then let it amount to nothing.

    @CliftonMagpie

I Guess that's what it was like back then. As a Kid I soon got over the Disappointment andΒ  forgot about it. If I hadn't have found the Letter stuck in the rollers of the Draw, it never would have crossed my mind again. When I found the Letter I thought I'd share it with the Rest of the PON Membership and compared to what @RobbieΒ and his Daughter went through my disappointmentΒ  pales into insignificance compared to the Horror they saw.

Good morning it’s a beautiful day again and it’s Friday so time for some weekend chat.

I don’t know why I get excited about the weekend I guess it’s a throwback from when I was working. We still treat weekends as special in spite of the fact that we’re retired. We have better meals and I allow myself some alcohol.

Whats everyone up to this weekend? I’m hoping to see our son and family for a meal which will be nice, park run tomorrow obviously, so I can keep in trim.Β

Game five for the Outlaws in this season's 20/20 Blast. 2:30 pm start.

Notts are still looking for their first win this season. Can they do it today at Trent bridge?

Welcome to our PON community@Pies79Β

With lots of things changing in the Game and New Ideas coming to the Fore. I thought I'll throw in my Two Pence Worth.

Currently if a team wins a Game they get 3 points, and 1 point for a Draw. How about this.

WIN 3 POINTS

Score Draw 2 POINTS

No Score DrawΒ  1 Point

Over All Aggregate Victory Over two Matches ( Notts 2 Opponents 0. Opponents 1 Notts 1 AGG Notts 3 Opponents 1) Notts extra League Point.

  • I would be in the camp of wishing nothing like this would happen, because it would mess with the way scores have been handled for decades.

Yet, by drawing, earning no points - theoretically would mean managers and players would push themselves more to win. It could have an impact that makes games more exciting because teams will want those points. ????Β

Good point @ChrisΒ regarding nil points for a draw.

No more shutting up shop to play for a draw. Would certainly make a difference to the World Cup and Euro finals, & Champions league.Β

The organisers may as well go for just pure knockout once again.Β

    Β

i think 0-0 could equal no points, where as anything higher could be rewarded with a point because it shows that the teams did not settle for a goalless draw.

then again giving no points for draws would mean teams had to attack.

i dont think any of these would help the underdog teams that might have a great one off season due to winning and drawing games though.

During the Euro's We Heard How Tired The England Team was Well I Have A Cure.

Make the Champions League Just That. Champions From Each Country Only. No Group Stages Just a Knockout Tournament Pure and Simple.

That Way The Poor Lambs In The England Squad Wouldn't Be Tired.

Make the World Cup & Euro's Finals between the Top 16 Teams Ranked in The World. 4 Groups of 4, with the Top 2 From Each Group Progressing. No Qualifying Rounds Just Straight Into The Finals. Less Matches Means More Energy And Less Fatigue For Players. Have The Finals Played In One Country instead of 3 Less Plane Travel Less Jet Lag Less Tiredness For The Players.

It's Easy When You Think About It. What Do You Reckon My Fellow PON Members ?

Makes me wonder why NottsΒ  haven't thought about rolling out a big screen at Meadow lane and open up the Cop or Jimmy Sirrel stand so that supporters can watch an away match and the club make some more money that way.

On the other hand, I bet they probably have.

They could certainly do it with the Nest and make a packet doing that.

Although I suppose they will look to attract away supporters going to the Forest matches, so that idea might not be feasible.

But I'm sure they are looking at all the optionsΒ

    @Robbie

You know that's Not a Bad Idea. Open the Nest Up when the Magpies are away, so Fans can Watch their Favourites in Action. Yeah I can See the Appeal. As long as they made it affordable to watch so a Family can also watch. Maybe a Quid A kid . A Fiver for the over 60's and a Tenner for everybody else. I'm sure the Club would Get Plenty of Takers. Food and Drink also available you'd be on a Winner There.

The only issue is this would lose a lot of revenue in the Champions League group stages. It would have a further impact on the broadcasting side, as they won't want to lose the potential coverage that the games offer. It would be good for the players, in principle.

However, I think teams just need to be more aware of how frequent players are playing.

Squads are usually large enough to make changes, which would reduce the fatigue caused by playing often. Yet, clubs and managers are more inclined to field their strongest squad, but from a development point of few making the odd change in games which aren't as crucial or where other fringe players could keep up, then the obvious answer would be not to over play first team players.

The UEFA Nations League should have been introduced with the mindset that nations must only choose x senior players and enforce them to bring in newer talent. This has added more games but the answer to reduce fatigue is to make use of your full squad. For example, if Liverpool are playing a club considered smaller, would playing 3-4 of their fringe/younger players make much difference?

This video is a great insight into what goes off at a Notts Training Session.

The team is currently in the Netherlands preparing for their friendly match with German 4th tier side MSV Duisburg.

Β

????Β Ha! Almost a military drill.

Losing team gets to do twenty press ups... ????Β It's a good insight, some of which may be for the camera (not a negative) but it shows the strictness of the training process. All smiles and joking, it's good to see that the group of players are amongst each other.

Though someone in the background looks to be struggling with heavy panting.

We do need to try not to overdo things in the heat though, yet I am sure this is fully something the coaching team are aware off.

  • I think Southgate looked upon Ollie Watkins as a man who could come on and change a game, nothing more than that.Β

Football has become a squad game nowadays where it is no longer looked upon as 11 players and their substitutes.

Now we have a starting 11 & a finishing 11 with every player in that 18, or 20 in the PL, or even 25 in international matches, having a specific purpose to perform depending on the circumstancesΒ

I Don't See the point of calling him a Super Sub, just because he scored a 90th minute winner ( even if he's the youngest to do so). If he'd had done it 3-4 more times in different England Matches Fair Enough.

Is that All England have to Celebrate then? Ollie Watkins being the Youngster Sub ever to score the Winning Goal as a Substitute in the Euro's and Kyle Walker got into the Team of the Tournament Side.Β  We're just Clutching At Straws Now.

Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden are good players but in my opinion are over rated. They are not world beaters.

Apart from Bellingham scoring a wonder goal he had a very average tournament. He looked tired and jaded and he was quick to go down as though he was fouled a lot of the time.. He did lots of complaining too.

Foden had an average tournament too, looked tired & jaded & got frustrated very easily. Both players looked like they had left their best performances for their club sides.

Both of them lacked fire and motivation. Those two players impress in their club side, but they are surrounded by great players at their clubs, which can make a big difference. For England they both looked ordinary.

Good morning it’s Monday. As the weekend chat seems to be quite popular I thought I might try a weekday chat topic to see how it goes.

Use this topic to talk about your daily life or anything you want to chat about on a day to day basis.

It’s a lovely start to the day so far, how are we all feeling for a Monday morning? What are up to today? Back to work, school, college? How’s you’re day going?

Are there any vegetables that you’ve had to eat in the past that you didn’t care for? Or perhaps ones that you’ve never taken a liking to? My grandchildren aren’t fans of rhubarb and many other vegetables, such as cauliflower, peas, radishes, Brussels sprouts, and so on. These are all things that you wouldn’t hesitate to eat when hunger strikes, as was the case in my younger days.

I’m aware that rhubarb is more commonly used in culinary dishes nowadays, such as crumbles and simply served with custard. However, I still enjoy it occasionally with roasted duck, not just in desserts.

Think I’ll put this on my door.Β :rollonfloorlaughing:

Well this is a Question ThatΒ  Needs Addressing. Where will the Mighty Magpies Finish come the End of this up Coming Season ?

If all the Players can stay Fit and Healthy andΒ  all the New Players can Adopt to the Notts System, then CHAMPIONS.

The Notts Squad Looks Good on Paper, but as we all know that means Nothing Nor does having 70%-75% of the Ball each Match.Β

I Expect Notts to Gain Promotion this Coming Season, whether Automatic or Via the Playoffs anything Else In My Opinion will be a Failure.

Now my Fellow PON Members What Are Your Thoughts?

  • Show previous comments  5 more
  • I’m still cautious to predict and top 3 spot, we did finish 14th last season and getting in the top 3 would be quite a jump, I think play-offs is a very realistic goal though and I’d hope we’d finish in them or at worst miss out by just a point our two. And again I could be completely wrong here but the two big spenders in Wrexham and Stockport are gone and Mansfield weren’t exactly on a shoe-string budget either so I’d expect the league to be quite close when it comes to the promotion spots this season.

Still think we need a few signings before the season starts, so maybe I'll predict an exact position just before the Tranmere game!

For me it would be very dissapointing if Notts didn't make at least the playoffs this season.Β

The first half a dozen matches will be a big pointer to what could happen, however the three pre season games have been encouraging, so I do remain hopeful of success in 2025.

yes I agree play offs is the minimum, automatic next then ultimately title winning.Β

Last season we scored the most and conceded the most.

We have a new defence and got rid of our goal machine, which leaves the questions:

Will the new defence do what it has been brought into do?
    will we score goals?

We have held on to the Assist Machine JJ so in the numbers game weΒ will score goals

The defence have been brought in for what we lacked last year and on paper it looks good.

    The future is unwritten.

    Β

    Β

    Β

Alassana Jatta scores two goals tonight against Wealdstone in a friendly.

Good start for him and two well taken goals from crossesΒ

Is it a shape of things to come?

Macca has left the Club & gone to pastures new.Β

I cannot think of a better number nine since I have been supporting Notts.

That's not to say that Notts have not had some brilliant number nines down the years because they have.

But maybe that could be for a future topic, I'm wondering which current player will take over the mantle of wearing the number nine shirt now Macca has gone.

Of course Notts may surprise us & bring in a new number nine, but from our current crop of attackers, who should have the number nine shirt?

There is a choice of course, from either, Jatta, Scott, McGoldrick or Morias.

All of them are quite capable of taking over the coveted position.

I have my choice, who is yours?

  • Show previous comments  17 more
  • I think that Jatta has put himself into contention to have the converted number nine shirt after the first three games of the season. He even looks like a number nine, and took his chances against Wealdstone like a number nine.

Still an opportunity for Scott, First and Moria's to stake a claim, but that window is getting smaller.

I believe Notts will recruit another forward. I have no objections to Cedwyn Scott or Junior Morias, but it seems Scott is preferred to play in a supporting striker role. Morias has appeared decent, but we haven’t seen him given a consistent run to fully comprehend his contribution.

The club will probably take their time to find the appropriate successor for Macaulay Langstaff, who, in my opinion, is more likely to be assigned the number 9 shirt.

Alternatively, the shirt might go to Alassana Jatta, but I personally think he will be given a different number.

On 12/07/2024 at 13:57, TheSkipper said:

I don’t anticipate the club signing a striker anytime soon. The presence of the young lad from Derby among our trialists reinforces my belief that we’ll give our current forwards a chance. They may not get the number 9 shirt, which I think will be reserved for a special announcement. I suspect this will happen during the January transfer window, with the club using it to signal their intent to push for promotion. Players like Junior Morias, who don’t get much game time, deserve a chance. The number 9 shirt should be saved for a high-profile signing in January.

I understand your point, but considering our lack of experienced strikers at this level, I believe the club will seek a long-term replacement. Morias should receive more playing time, but I think Jatta is the likely candidate from the current squad to play more. With Scott being favoured in a different role, it indicates that we need a bit more depth.

Unless Morias goes, I don't think Notts need a striker to replace Langstaff. We have three excellent strikers already who are quite capable of scoring at least 15 goals a season with the attacking midfielders we have to supply them.

Jatta & Scott have to be the top two with McGoldrick & Morias, if he stays in reserve.

I'm very happy with the strike force that we have. If we need to strengthen this area in January we can do it then.

That's it I know what you're thinking the Old Wheelbarrow Repairman has gone off his Rocker. Stuart Maynard Runs the the Notts First XI. But does he? Is he the only One who makes all the Decisions? Bear with me and I'll Explain. Going back a few months the Magpie Circle Pod Cast had both Notts C.E.O. Joe Palmer and Head of Recruitment Richard Montague on and it more or less went has many PON Members said it would, neither were asked any difficult questions, but thinking back there was something Richard Montague said that didn't really Register at the time, however thinking back, he said something which as got me thinking. That was

During a Match he walks up and down getting worried about the Notts Performance if things aren't going right, yeah Ok but all us Fans get worried when things don't go the Magpies way True.Β  But walking up and down worrying about thingsΒ  is something Stuart Maynard should do in his technical Area, isn't it? It shouldn't be a Problem for the Head of Recruitment unless of course he has something to do with the Team Selection and he must make sure the Notts Playing "Model" is followed to the letter. It is the Latter which got me thinking Stuart Maynard was hired because he played a similar style to that of a Luke Williams team, so was one of the conditions Stuart was hired,Β  wasΒ  it he would have to stick to the "Model" regardless ? And let us not forget Stuart was only a Part time Coach when he was hired, so was Richard Montague given the task of helping him make the switch from Part Time to Full Time Coach? And is Richard MontagueΒ  still in that Role?

Then again it's Probably Me Just Seeing Things That Aren't There. Then Again....

  • An interesting question and the more you think about it, the more questions you have. I think the buck stops with SM. It's his job to pick the right personnel to fit into the system. The system comes from the top down though. So is SM allowed to change systems or style of play? Hmmmmm. Oh man, I'm not going that rabbit hole, it's bed time........

The problem last season was letting in 35 to 40 more goals than we should have done.

If we hadn't have let them goals in, Notts would have either won the league or would have at least come third & got promoted.

There is no question that Notts had the best attacking midfield & strike force in the League, but unfortunately, the worse defence.

Notts have now fixed that problem on paper, & with Matt Palmer back, we should get automatic promotion on paper, or at the VERY least, a playoff spot.

The recruiters have done their job, now it's up to Maynard to do the work he's paid for to get Notts into successful working unit.

There are no excuses now for Stuart, he has to deliver otherwise his job will be in jeopardy.

Unfortunately it's Stockport

  • Well, students could find them, and it's not a safe idea to combat mass shootings with more guns. What would be a better solution would be to make sure that school had appropriate security. Schools in the UK look like prisons, whereas in America they look like nice normal places.

The UK goes overkill on the security side, America thinks the only solution is having more violent weapons at hand.

Another issue is that school shooters may decide to target meeting points or other venues if schools do manage to cut down on guns/weapons getting into them. The problem just doesn't go away. I do find it curious as to why we don't tend to have violent crimes in schools.

It's a good thing, knifes are such a big issue in the UK. Whereas in the United States it's more guns.

A 15-year-old knows what they are doing but at same time the parents knowingly knew he had access to the guns and were alright with him using it – I know it’s not a view shared by all in America but how can anything be gained from letting a child use gun!? Personally, it might be harsh but if America isn’t going to do anything about gun restriction, these mass-shooting will just keep happening. A ruling like this would at least make parents think twice about letting their child use a gun.

I genuinely feel sorry for the kids at schools in America, it's unacceptable that they have do gun drills to prepare for a shooting. Like how tragic can that be teaching a 6 year old to hide under their desk… And the sad thing is, the drills don't really protect them it’s all just down to luck, really bad luck, at the end of the day.

It’s bizarre so many Americans can’t see the issue here and all because of some poxy statement written nearly 250 years ago. Society has moved on it’s about time America did too.

This sounds like someone's trying to blame more people for what one person did with bad intentions. I'm not sure these accusations will be successful. Is Donald Trump trying to get the CIA charged because they didn't keep him safe? It's true, they might not have done their jobs properly, and it could have been much worse.

  • I recall the sounds the old stands would make, particularly in windy or rainy conditions. The fans were packed tightly, which helped with warmth, but the lack of toilets could make it a bit unpleasant on warm days when fans would retreat to the back of the stands. I was quite fond of the earlier version of Meadow Lane, such a striking and iconic ground. Derek Pavis did well by not straying too far from it.
