Sepp Blatter

Makes a real mockery of last week really. Why bother to go through all that and win then back out a few days later. Don't get me wrong, he has to be the worst person to move football forward, but surely he could have had some sense of self dignity and one this last week!!!

Good riddens to bad rubbish!

It would appear the FBI is investigating. It's been a very open secret that FIFA vice presidents expect "sweeteners" for World Cup votes, and Blatter has presided over it all. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

It'll be interesting to see what happens at FIFA now there has been a near-clean sweep of its top officials. Hopefully an outsider to make the organisation transparent. I'm not wildly optimistic at the moment. The favourite is Michael Platini, who voted for Qatar in 2022 ...

What will happen to the next two World Cups? I recall reading that the time that South Africa lost the vote for 2006 because a FIFA executive who had pledged his support (Jack Warner?) "forgot" to vote for them. It looks increasingly like payments were exchanged for the 2010 World Cup. So it appears highly likely that there were dodgy dealings around 2018 and 2022 too. Will the voting for those tournaments be re-opened? Is it even legally possible?

With the amount of reports of corruption, I highly find it unlikely that Blatter wasn't involved. You cannot run something this huge without things starting to become weird, plus just several of the key decisions FIFA have made under his reign suggest that the corruption is much higher up.

His resignation for me is just to try and make it look like he has nothing to hide.

So for turning Supergrass and helping the USA to blow the lid on FIFA, Chuck Blazer has been handed a lifetime ban from all football activities.

Shutting the door after the horse has bolted? let's face it, would he have got another job in Football?

Does it make FIFA look even more stupid as it to me seems as if they have done it because he turned grass.

Sepp Blatter even a way from football politics will still continue to annoy football fans, its just who he is. The FBI have gone all quiet, I wonder if they will manage to press charges on him.

The thing is, he just thinks he annoys the English and our press. If only he really knew.

I think he is annoyed he can't buy English football and that we have a relatively effective press (although I wasn't saying that at the height of the Munto bubble, to be fair!)
