Just to clarify, we have very good stats and people spend quite some length reading our content. We average very impressive page views, however I know what's meant by the above. Trolls are not a problem either, as I am we could cut them out but I am happy with our direction.

With regards to informing the fans, I think it's where press releases come into it.

Arrange to speak to BBC Nottingham, Nottingham Post or just up a chairman's message on the OS. There's no need to open questions up to the supporters, as this just leads to people expecting news and then taking it for granted. This is why I am personally interested in club events like fan forums because it's the correct platform to answer questions, however I do feel Mr Trew should add his opinion so that fans can see it - I just wouldn't answer every Tom, **** or Harry.

Lets just hope he is not shot down again for his comments, the way I see it he is just excited about the new season. @notts-joe is right, we should get back on subject but I think it says more about the club itself.

I have to be fair, I do wished Ray wouldn't put it all out there in the way that he does.

It leads to being hi-jacked and negative feedback, what he says in principle there is not much wrong with it, bar announcing signings which haven't yet signed but it could be worse. He could have named them or a fan could have asked if it was so and so, to which he could have alerted the opposition and all it takes is for one club to come in and offer more money.

The news is welcomed as it gives us something to discuss and to be excited about, yet I do fear what will happen if the sponsor is not up to scratch and the mongs of this club decide to be negative.

i do want to say for what pon stands for and for all the work fans like @notts-joe do, some recognition would be nice. lets face it, it would not harm to join in with both sides and then they could get a balance. i cannot help but feel certain people end up being taken for granted and the whole 'i wont post on mad' thing is a joke.

that said, i will wait for news which is official before i get excited.

This is very interesting, more so because its in the bank but bigger than any League 1 team? Quite the powerful comment, considering we did not know that long ago how our budget would compare with League 2 teams.

We used to do a lot of work with local businesses, I know boots are letting people go but could they be the sponsor?

Lets hope the non believers actually get a taste of medicine and actually give Ray a break. I like the fact he is prepared to mix with fans, I just wished that it would not always include the lunatics. I have to say, from reading thread it seems others agree with me but I will not go there out of respect for the boss.

Whoever this sponsor is, thank you for the money. Now lets push on and regain promotion to league 1.

Seems a bit of a stunt to answer questions which brings optimism the day before a signing is made.

Sponsorship of any kind, provided its good is welcomed. If its longer than other clubs above our division I would like to know what they want for that investment. I do not see being a league two side warranting a high fee alone to have their name on our shirt.

I also wonder, will it be another of Ray's companies?

I doubt it will be one of Ray's companies @AmericanPie, I read somewhere that Damian Irvine sealed the deal. I find it odd (but pleasing) to have such a big sponsorship deal following relegation. I think there are three possible explanations for this:

 

1. The ladies' team was used as a carrot. Appearing on the shirts of a top-flight ladies' team and possibly also in the women's FA Cup final would offer a sponsor better value for money.

 

2. The sponsorship deal includes naming rights for the ground.

 

or 3. A mickey-mouse company has offered us an amount of money they can't possibly afford for fast publicity. Think Aaron Scargill. For all the Trews' faults, I can't see them falling for that one.

All I'm saying is when will he learn, I don't question his passion or ambition but what is he thinking?

We have a "B" list of ones who would sign tomorrow but we are waiting to see how things develop. Dont be put off by the letter B because these players are still good - one even played in the Premiership last season

I assume the Premiership striker will be younger than the two very good strikers linked, why not sign him and wait to see how the other two pan out? In my experience and opinion of being a Notts fan, two coming would be quite a surprise and pretty a first for us.

Do we need to very good strikers when we have Spencer and Murray? Does Moniz play to feature four upfront?
