New Owners?

Would new owners be able to drive Notts forward? Is it time for the Trews to sell up if this season doesn't measure well in terms if success?

The more I read, the more I feel we need a fresh direction and a board without a split fan base. I appreciate what the Trews have done but I don't see how they will move us forward. If we don't see success on the field, I do feel they should weigh this up themselves because they are likely unable to make back what they have put in.

Time for a frank and serious discussion about the current owners. Discuss people!

They can only sell up if someone is willing to buy. As the chances of making money out of a club like ours are virtually zero, we're basically limited to rich people on an ego trip (who have 91 other League clubs to choose from) and wealthy fans who see it as a labour of love.

If we do find someone, it depends who they are. We don't want to end up with our very own version of Venkys or the Oystons. Sometimes it's better the devil you know.

The only way to unite the supporters is through success on the pitch. Every new owner gets a honeymoon period, but this doesn't last long if success is not forthcoming.

I can only echo what @DangerousSausage said tbf. Yes a new owner and a new board would probably do the club some good, but without a buyer then we have no choice to stick with the Trews. By stick with I mean the fans need to accept that they are in it for the long term and even if fans don't like the behind the scenes stuff, it is irrelevant if the club are winning consistently on the field.

Not a fan of the Trews, but also a realist who knows when steady is better than nothing.

I don't think the Trews would sell to just anyone and they are here for the long run, just look at the investment they have put in behind the scenes and to a degree on the field. I think really we need to see things slowed down, managers given chance and the money we do have to be spent on the playing field. If we can build one of the strongest League Two squads and push on, I think the majority will forget about things.

Personally I don't know if selling would solve any of the problems, anyone who comes in could make mistakes or be unwilling to fund the team as wisely as they should.

I think for now we should be grateful because some owners just cut the strings, then the club takes it's toll and we would not be any better off.

I'd just like to see move forward together, I think Notts would only become an attractive outlet if we was playing Championship football and before that, it would limit who would be interested. We need serious, passionate people and at least Mr Trew is exactly that.

A field where dreams become reality.

for all their faults with sacking managers etc, i dont think we could ask for much better.

they are prepared to battle, build and hope for to move forward. i think anyone else, unless mega rich would only do half of what they have but i do think its time they take a seat back and appreciate fans. its just a shame that the idiots tend to get at them because i think its refreshing that they are prepared to talk to us fans at our level, rather than ignoring us.

it shows respect, so no.

Honestly I think they cannot withstand the heat and I blame a lot of the misfortunes down to their mismanagement. If a honest bid came in, I would hope they sell as I do feel if they cant bring us success, they should move on.

We are not in a position to just be sold, they have done an incredible amount for Notts. Each owner makes mistakes, I really do feel we must not forget the amount of money spent in order to save Notts. They won't be getting that back unless we see success on the field, so they have an invested interested and I do believe they care about the club.

I don't think they should sell.

I would fear of the type of people who look to buy a league two team like ours, i do not want a mega rich investor to mess up the structure we have. We need to build slowly and bide our time, so no I dont think they should sell the club.

If having new owners guaranteed promotion, we may start seeing a merry-go-round of clubs being sold.

Nobody needs to be a fan of them, we support Notts not the board.

Nothing wrong at all with the owners, everyone makes mistakes and at least the Trews do try to move us forward by investing. Any fan before Munto would embrace them with open arms, as we never had anything prior to that and we are just getting back to having competence budgets etc.

We need fans more than new owners.

I think Moniz is their last throw of the dice. If they can't get this one right, it's time to look at selling the club.

Somebody who can appoint a half decent manager and not sack them within a year would be good.

There is a new owner waiting in the wings he has been a passionate Notts fan for over 50 years.

I'm just waiting to win the lottery.

You and me both @tonyhateley! Perhaps a joint consortium?

In all fairness if the existing board regain the fans support, by this I mean those who have fallen out with them and if we regain promotion things may be forgiven. Otherwise I fear for them and us, you cannot buy loyalty or true passion.

I'm quite happy with the owners. They've got our finances on a sound footing and now just need to have a good promotional season to get us back on track with bringing entertaining football and success on the field. They are the first to admit they've made mistakes but they do have the best interests of the club at heart. I'm sure they would love to have new investment to push us on to the next level but I'm equally sure they want to still be at the helm enjoying the fruits of their labor!

EXACTLY !

New owners are always a risk, just ask Birmingham City, Blackpool and Leeds fans. I don't think the risk of changing the owner would be worth it at the moment. Mistakes have been made, no doubt, however it's how you learn from those mistakes that matter.  Ray is a successful businessman, and you don't get into a position like that without learning from mistakes. I just hope he learns from them quickly enough (which I have faith, as the first step is admitting mistakes were made, which he has done)

Who would buy us? There's nothing attractive about Notts right now.

I think we need to pay respect to our existing owners, as they have invested and given us a level of success, albeit surviving with league one but that is good enough from my point of view. It takes time to get that forward momentum, until we lack more off the field than I will debate to stand by them or not. For me at this stage it shouldn't even be a question.

It's been interesting to watch this topic, I thought some of the fans with their 'Trew' views would have come on to state their case but it's been pretty unanimous we need to move forward on the field.

If the club was to be placed on the market, I know I would be fearful about what the future held for Notts.

A field where dreams become reality.

This is only worthy of discussion if and when somebody comes forward who has the finances and the desire... added to the right business model to take this club forward...

Without that... there is no point... whilst mistakes have been made... our current Chairman and board are IMO making progress...

Yes lets discuss.

Firstly, there needs to be a buyer for there to be a seller.  The days are gone where a rich local businessman wants to buy or get involved in a Football League Club.   Unless of course you one of the Big Clubs that bounce back and forth between the Championship and the Premier League.

Secondly, i will decide when i vacate office and not outside influences despite as you suggest a split fan base.  I set myself targets when i took on this Football Club and when these have been achieved and fulfilled, i will consider moving on and not  before then.

Actually to tell the truth I don't do the lottery so there is no chance but I am quite happy with our owners at the moment.
