Star Wars...

Will keep this spoiler free.

Now I've taken Ben to see the new movie I've got to say I'm impressed with it all. The whole buzz about Star Wars is justified and feels real this time, unlike the previous 3 poor attempts.

Film was excellent and well directed and produced.

As I said elsewhere, Princess Leia carried off that costume superbly 30 years ago. Good idea to not try it again now she is coming up 60!!!

Word of warning to all parents though.

BUY from the Disney shop if you want decent merchandise. All the other stuff is inferior and more expensive.

Today Ben was given a lightsaber to replace the one someone else bought for him for Xmas. Much better from Disney. Same one as Disney sell for £25 for sale in Toysrus for £59.

Kylo Ren voice changing mask. £35 Toysrus. £20 in Disney.

I can't say I've ever been "into" Star Wars, I think I've watched a couple of films when they've been on the telly but its not something I could get excited about, I saw a piece on the news where some folk were queuing through the night to be the first to see the new film, what's that all about, why don't they get a life for God's sake?

Anyway, glad you liked it @hissingdwarf a nice bit of bonding with your son I bet.

I didn't like Star Wars as a kid, yet I don't like the first three because of mistakes I have noticed during watching it - it's actually the 3rd, 4th and 5th which got me into the franchise and whereas arguably they are flawed also - overall the CGI etc is something I find amazing.

Let's face it without Edgar Rice Burrough's novel 'A Prince of Mars' aka 'John Carter' (which I find to be a decent movie) we wouldn't have Star Wars.

I wouldn't quite stretch it to 'Flash Gordon' though - Link.

I've seen the film with Jake and Ellie, we enjoyed it. I felt it's very 'over-hyped' and created a lot hysteria, much of which I do not get at all.

It's something which will probably grow on me more, yet I do genuinely feel it could be much better. The plot is there, yet it feels very disjointed. I'm not sure they use characters like Hans Solo very effectively and having watched a YouTube video which spoke about 'segments' which had been removed - I found myself thinking had half the scenes been included it would have made for a much better film.

Personally I think much of the success will come from the hysteria and constant hype from the media. It's funny how those two things make people instantly believe something is brilliant, just like it can crush and destroy if they speak against something.

I'm not a fan of it to be fair. Only watched them as a kid and then again recently with Ben who has thrown himself into it!

The film is what it is. Better than the first three and not as good as the originals, but T least it's back and Disney will be counting the piles of cash!

I have seen it and really enjoyed it. I also found it linked very well with number 6. 🎬🎬🎬

Much better! At the moment give me Star Wars anyday! Maybe when we get a new boss and get organised we'll be worth the entrance fee!

I watched it and thought it was good.

Can't really understand all the fuss about that lass though, a lot of men are having a party in their pants over her, I don't get it. Maybe just not my type?

You'd have to come to sort sort of arrangement. Maybe keep her for the weekends? and let the wife assume normal duties in the week.
