URGENT - ERROR MESSAGES

Recommended Posts

Sorry to post in capitals but I was trying to grab everyones attention.

I was clicking through the new topics when I clicked on one "crack downloads"? at 8.30am your time....it looked like a list of file downloads?

I tried to come out but I started getting "error" and "warning" messages from my Firefox security system......then I was automatically booted out of PON.

It took me 5 minutes to log in and out...plus I re-booted my computer.

Now the post has disappeared from topics....odd

I thought "we" were under a site-attack from our rivals.....not a techie, no idea.....just thought I should warn everyone.

I think the title was "crack dll downloads or files"......there was no message just a list of file attachments........ that I was not stupid enough to try to launch

"Oh thanks for the heads-up there Tarkers!"

"Nice of you to warn everyone from the Eagles Nest.......at 4am in the morning......cheers."

"No probs everyone....just trying to be helpful"

"Now go back to sleep old bean....we can handle it from here!"

"ok.....good night"................zzzzzzzz

Talking to yourself is a sign of madness. Maybe it was the "flavoured" tobacco? :D

Cheers though. Sounds very suspicious.

The sites running fine for me, have you ran a virus scan?

Posted

Not seen an issue, but then I am using a Mac and not horrid Windows!!

When you browse other sites, are they appearing as normal, or are you seeing extra advertising? You may have downloaded some malware, so would be worthwhile running an anti-malware scan just to be safe.

Lol. It's perfectly fine to describe Windows as horrid - but not when you're using Apple products :lol:

i would not click links posted by a newpie or download files. hope you resolve the issue :)

I think @tarquinbeech is probably snoring now due to time differences!

Not noticed the file. I'm sure @notts-joe can check through all posts at server level and ensure whatever it was is removed.

Thanks for the heads up Tarkers and apologies nobody was there to respond immediately. I blame the wife dragging me out shopping!

It seems to be a post which @tonyhateley thankfully deleted, the account which did it is a spammer and possibly a bot.

I'd recommend not clicking via newpies like Liam suggests, unless you can trust them. Also it's safe to advice @tarquinbeech should run his anti viruses - hopefully all is okay after.

Yes, I saw it early on and deleted it and reported the user as a spammer which limits their ability to post.

If you see anything like that in future @tarquinbeech you can report the post and this notifies the moderators and we can take action. Luckily in this instance I just happened to be browsing the forum and saw it but if you had reported the post all the mods get an email notification.

Well, I awake to find that I have received the "PON Sleuth of the month" award.....it will sit in pride-of-place alongside the VC that I was awarded after Rorke's Drift.

Cheers all......no probs with my computer so far, luckily I think Firefox blocked the page and booted me off.

I wonder if there is a moderators union we could join comrade @hissingdwarf?

Good point comrade. I'm at a full L party constituency meeting this evening so i'll address the matter with our mp. If she doesn't know of one I'll look into the rules for starting off a new union!

I'll report back !

Just one question, do you moderate 'pies' for consistency and taste or just the demand? LOL

Says the man who hasn't seen his feet in a few years.

Any way back on topic.

Gloria De Piero said @tonyhateley she hasn't heard of a union as such for moderating, but she will ask Tom Watson, deputy leader of the Labour Party, as he is extremely big in the trade union movement and get back to me. She checked about minimum wage and that and I struggled to answer that. She suggested I ask a few of the elder guys at the meeting if they still had their fingerless gloves, donkey jackets and metal bins that we could borrow.

She also thinks the name numpti is very cool and might get new members. I think @Canadian needs to join us on the picket line.

I actually know Gloria.....honestly, her secretary was an ex-member of Pans People.......check it out on-line......she used to pop into my bar in Sutton......I think she has a "thing" for me......she is probably a bit angry because I turned her down in favour of Miss Nicaragua 2014!!
