Hello @Norfolk Pie, welcome to PON.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

Thank you for the welcome all of you. Live near Norwich these days but I was born in West Bridgeford - Mum and dad had a flat above John Sheridan, a County player but no relation to the manager. My parents left Nottingham to work abroad when I was a few months old but whenever we came home on leave my Grandad would take me down the Lane on Saturdays to watch County so I have been blessed (cursed?) with supporting County for more than 50 years now. I have a good friend who is a Colchester season ticket holder so we always watch the County vs Colchester home and away legs together and I get along to other critical matches but not as often as I would like. Everywhere is a long way from Norfolk and my wife would divorce me if I wasn't doing my chores on a Saturday so I am normally listening over the internet while doing the ironing!

I must confess I became really disillusioned with the merry go round of managers under Trew and only when Peter bought me a ticket to a foggy game in December at Colchester did my interest rekindle and almost immediately after Hardy bought out Trew and Nolan was installed and I couldn't have been happier.

Really disappointed that Hardy has sacked Nolan - I think the first really bad decision he has made. This is now Nolan's team (14 out and 10 in) and I think if he had been given to Christmas he might have had them up their challenging - if not, that was the time for him to go. I don't see why anyone else should do better with them and particularly not someone with less experience and a poorer record like Kewell. Last time we had a manager sacked too quickly for a big name player we lost Craig Short, a proper Notts man, for Paul Ince - one of the worst Notts County managers ever imho.
