If you haven't already check out this article, so out of touch with the game and absolutely shameful writing.

Premier League 2 ????????????

What a dumb suggestion! Seriously, it's called the "Premier League" because it's supposed to be the premier of all English football. The elite, of the elite. Creating a Premier League 2 sounds like a naff idea. Why would it create more revenue? If anything, it's just repacking the Championship and hoping it can cling onto some of the Premierships attraction.

There's zero need to change it.

@Chris As always they're looking at money over everything else. Championship is doing just fine and everyone in England respects the Championship as it's the toughest league in English football. The league is just so hard to get out of. The bit about league two got me mad, so basically not calling those in league two professionals especially considering some of those clubs that have been so far down. It's just a farce of an article. Rebranding it would damage it. It'll widen the gap not close it.

The Championship has drawn interest from overseas fans in recent years, that shouldn't be their focus, it should be on fans being able to attend games at reasonable prices. Not attracting the highest possible revenue by looking at gimmicks.

If it happens, it will make the league just a shadow of the Premier League.

As it is now, it stands out for good reasons.

Right, what next... No relegation from this Premier League 2?

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Surely they're trolling us. The truth is that the Championship is not one of Europe's top leagues, it is our second division, and a hubris-driven rebranding will not change that.

Also, the abolition of relegation and thus the severing of the link to the rest of the English football pyramid merits a single sentence and is dismissed as "collateral damage". That's pretty revealing - the writer of the piece clearly thinks that the profile of the second division is more important than the sport as a whole and therefore deserves to be ignored.

My point entererly.

The piece stinks of someone who thinks money is the whole point of the game, its people like this that ruin the game for the supporters out there. The Championship doesn't need to be changed, it's improved greatly over the years since rebranding as the Championship itself.

You couldn't even make it up, what will they think of next? Football has fallen into a dangerous territory where idiots think they can adapt the game to suite themselves.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

The EFL will never rid the Championship too much quality. What the writer fails to understand is that most football fans in England especially pay more attention to the EFL than the Premier League.

The Championship is now attracting Premier League standard players as signings, what would help, is if the England manager actually looked to reward good performers from the league and give them call ups on merit.

I think it just attracted the attention that it seeked, I don't think they're serious about it. It just seems like nonsense.
