Returning players from injury

I thought it was a bonus to see Kyle Cameron selected to play against Yeovil, a crucial return in my eyes. Connell Rawlinson and Sam Slocombe will be welcomed returns too.

What centre-backs would you choose?

Sam Slocombe or Anthony Patterson in goal?

Re: CB's

Cameron - Rawlinson - Lacey

This would be my preferred choose, with Lacey going into the middle if Brindley coming in when needed.

I like Patterson but I think his experience so far is the only weakness, he crumbles when the defence does and I think this is where Slocombe shows he's the stronger option.

This has to be the lineup if the club goes for 3 at the back, if a 4-4-2 or just a standard back 4, then Cameron and Lacey would get my priority to start.

Taylor/Chicksen and Brindley being the full backs.

Patterson and Slocombe are both fine in my opinion, either can start.

With a solid defence and further hard work to protect the keeper, either will thrive. I can see Slocombe mostly starting but it is nice to know we can rest him if needed. When does Patterson's loan deal expire?

I prefer Notts to have left and right back,s but I have no problem with 3 CB's provided they're actually strong in this area. Brindley and Chicksen are okay but not solid, I think Brennan takes the pressure off.

In goal, I don't have a problem with either keeper.

There's clear candidates for stronger defence partnership, with all the returning players fit, the competition might improve any weaknesses.

I don't think the poor run was down to absences, more a lack of management in those games.

I prefer Slocombe over Patterson, so will be pleased to see him return. Patterson is fine in the meantime.

Notts are only a little lightweight in a few areas, with the mentioned players back I think Notts will be a lot more stronger.

I think defensively we all know that Alex Lacey the passing defender, with Kyle Cameron being the enforcer type player who can a lot more. He reminds me of a more robust Brian Stubbs.

I'm not keen on Chicksen playing as a centre back, although he does a better job than Richard Brindley. Both do the role okay, but they tend to wonder out, with Brindley requiring to track back as he gets involved further up the pitch.

Cameron, Rawlinson and, Lacey would be the preferred centre backs for just three.

With the wing back's being Taylor/Chicksen and, Brindley over DKE.

Patterson is fine in goal, although I do personally prefer Slocombe.

This is exactly my thoughts on the formation, Lacey needs to be the squad when fit.

I wonder if the recent switch to 4 at the back has been down to injuries. We have plenty of options for a back 3, I think both Brinds and Chicksen are quite comfortable there and I’ve got no real worries with them in a back 3 (assuming the opposition aren’t too direct!)

It’ll be interesting to see if a Lacey, Rawlinson and Cameron back 3 is as formidable as it sounds...

And I know Cameron is captain and therefore likely to start but if we stick to 4 at the back it’s worth remembering how good the Lacey and Rawlinson partnership is.

i dont mind 3 at the back, provided we leave two players back and that they are drilled to focus. other players need to do more than just run back, they should try to cover and get rid. its not always about playing pretty football.

if ib continues to play 4 at the back, thats fine.

we have a squad that can rotate to get the best out of the form.

in goal i would prefer slocombe to start.

Personally, I'm happy with either a Cameron/Lacey or Cameron/Rawlinson combination with Slocombe in goal.

It's a bit of a quandary for me as to what formation to be honest. My issue with three at the back and two wing backs is that it forces our chief attacking missile in Roberts to play inside and he is far better out wide, but it would enable Taylor to play wing back and get forward, but then I also don't feel that Brindley is that great as a wingback. I prefer a flat back four, but I'm not sure of Taylor in a four defensively and I'm struggling to warm to Chicksen. He does some good stuff, but then will suddenly lose the plot for no reason.

All in all, I think we have a balance problem across the back, not helped by missing a ball winning midfielder like Bishop or Yates and a goal scorer. There are too many "but then/if's" with this squad.
