Now our Club Captain Macaulay Langstaff has gone to Millwall, is it a foregone conclusion that Matt will become Club Captain?

I wonder who Notts will choose for Vice Captain if Matt gets the job?

Could it go to one of the new players Notts have signed?

Matt Palmer should be the captain. He should have been given the role in the first place. He’s the first player on my potential team sheet when fit. If Macaulay Langstaff had been made vice captain, it wouldn’t have been as negative. But here we are.

matt palmer is the obvious answer, i think the vice captaincy should be considered between cedwyn scott and jodi jones. those are two players i think would do the role well.

Think for sure Matty Palmer is the first point of call to take the armband.

Matt Palmer seems the most likely. Jodi Jones could be an option, but there aren't many vocal players in the squad. Sam Austin might not be guaranteed a start. Dan Crowley has only been here a season, otherwise he might have a chance.

I hope we don’t choose to make David McGoldrick the captain. He seemed to be past his prime for most of last season, and while I’m sure he’s a good player when he’s on form, the roles of captain or vice-captain should be given to someone younger.

Matt Palmer may be more reserved, but that could be because he takes time to process his thoughts. Not all captains need to be confrontational with their players. It’s all about how the team values and respects the chosen individual. I believe Palmer would approach the role in the same way he plays football - efficiently and reliably.

I would gladly entrust the role to Matt Palmer. He is a reliable performer who won’t let us down. This responsibility might encourage him to become more of a leader on the pitch.

I think Palmer would make a great captain.

Yes I think promoting Palmer to the role of captain seems the sensible choice. There's probably only a couple of players for vice-captain I can see Didzy taking the role although I think he'll set the standards and be a leader regardless. Maybe giving it to one of the new boys after pre-season would be an option?

Not for me, I think he is too quiet and I would like him to concentrate on his main job of making us tick. I would be looking at either one of the defenders or we may yet be bringing in a player to do the job.

I would have bet on Matt Palmer being named captain. Not all captains need to be loud, and I’m sure he will lead the squad to a high standard, just like his performances.

Matt Palmer isn't as quiet as some fans think: he's always communicating with those around him and suggesting runs to them when he has the ball. He's the obvious choice, there are other influencial players but we need someone who can remain calm, Palmer is ideal for that reason.

I noticed that Notts haven't appointed a vice captain just yet, but noticed that David McGoldrick captained the side against Duisburg.

Would Didzy make a good vice Captain,? Looks like he's in the frame
