Maziar Kuhyar signs from Kiddy

Featured Replies

I don't know much about him, but from what I have read, I can see why Notts have decided to go in for him.

Being an international player, even for Afghanistan, is something that sets him apart from others and will give him something different in terms of experience. How he will fit in and impact our squad remains yet to be seen, but I think it is a good signing. I am not sure what style or ability he brings, but it is encouraging.

He looks to be another good signing for Notts. Notts needed a player in the attacking midfield position who can create and score goals, & Maziar looks like he can fit the bill.

I do hope that we have found a player that can fit into the number ten role & will be able to emulated what he did at Kidderminster. Create and score goals.

We've seen two very encouraging acquisitions today. The club have clearly identified in what positions they are lacking and are trying to put that right

We’ll have the squad ready for next season before the new head coach is announced at this rate!

That said I don’t really get this signing to be fair, his stats in the National League with York are a lot less impressive, he dropped back down into the National League North so it’s no surprise he had a better season as he was facing much weaker opposition, does our model factor this in? He also played pretty much all his matches as a winger at Kidderminster too, unless we are changing formation slightly next season and playing wingers, I struggle to see where he fits in.

Right now I can only say this feels like a filler/squad player and we don’t need that. I’d have rather kept Whitaker or Austin to be honest… 100% want to be proven wrong though.

This is another signing following the Notts recent mantra. A player arriving on the cheap & the Owners hoping they become a success.

There is every chance he could become a success with his previous stats at Kidderminster.

I'm beginning to think we are not getting a Head Coach. It will be more like a First Team Coach under the Head of Football.

He looks determined, and having strong players around him will only help bring out his natural game. As others have pointed out, he brings something different to the team. We may not have signed someone from a higher level, but football is about the journey, working hard and making the most of every opportunity. Hopefully, he’ll become a cult hero at Notts, and as fans, we’ll do our best to make him feel welcome.

This is a bit of a strange one and I think he should be seen as a joker in the pack rather than someone we should absolutely pin our hopes on. NLN to League Two is a massive jump after all, and it's a bit concerning that National League York sent him out on loan (although he was highly rated by the fans there). However, he's just had a really good season and Kiddy and hopefully he can kick on with us too.

It might take me a while to get used to pronouncing his name, but his goal tally last season is promising. He’s joining a much stronger setup at Notts, and while I don’t expect an instant impact, I hope he proves himself over time. A one-year deal isn’t much of a risk.

Still trying to work this one out. I'm quite confused.

Released by York after having a loan spell in the National League North. If he was 22 or something and had the goal contributions he had last season, then I'd understand, but he's 27.

We have one of these questionable signings in us every window. Will Randall, Charlie Colkett, Curtis Edwards and now Maziar Kouyhar.

People will say give him a chance and no I'm not writing him off, but it's not a signing that a team pushing for League 2 automatics makes.

I don't know what the data has said but I'm not convinced by this one. The other 3 signings have been fine. Really confused about this one.

While the two new signings today might seem a little underwhelming (especially Maziar Kouhyar,) they have only initially been given a one year deal each. So would suggest that they aren’t the main signings of the summer and there is more of what we need to come. Although I do like the look of Ollie Norburn, might add a bit of steel in midfield. I liked his comment about the importance of winning the second balls, something we struggled with last season.

PON members are a little divided on this guy, but if we think about it, he's come on a free, he's been given a one year contract, he looks promising with his Kidderminster record, but if he's tried out but doesn't look the part he will be loaned out somewhere, so if it doesn't work out it is still a win win for Notts.

Some supporters may not see it that way, but the brothers have not given out long contracts to these two latest arrivals, The brothers have shown that they are very frugal with their spending unless they have to spend to get their man.

i think sometimes players like this can surprise, when they fit in a good hard working squad. i understand your view point and i get what you are saying, its all very fair but i do think teams make mistakes when they try to sign players like mk dons have done in recent years. gillingham signed well last season and it took them time, carlisle is another team. maybe we are trying to add some graft and hard workers to our ranks?

Its almost like Norburn had his interview written for him!!!!!!!

If we ranked the signings, this one might not be the most popular, but let’s not write him off before he’s even played. Hopefully, he’ll make a big impact when it counts.

We don’t know the club’s plans for him yet, but I’m happy to welcome him to the team.

Availability is important in recruitment. I wouldn’t say this is a bad signing, but I understand why some have doubts.

He seems to be at the stage where this might be his last chance to make a real impact in the EFL. Being part of a strong setup and having the drive to test himself could help him reach his full potential.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up like Curtis Edwards before his return from injury.

I hope he does well. Has seemingly shown passion and determination to get back into the game following injury and time out of the game.

There has been some negative comments on Facebook about him coming from the national league north and how is this going to get us promoted, it is a concern that he has come from the national league north, but all we can do is support him and hope his desire to prove and improve shows and is rewarded.

Footballers come and go, and when a signing like this happens, it's natural not to know what to expect. Sometimes, though, these signings bring something different to the team. We can be quite predictable, and as long as he has the ball control expected at a professional level, he should do well. If he's not good enough, he won't get much game time, but I'm sure he'll be eager to impress.

If he does well, we’ll be happily surprised. But if he struggles to keep up with our level, at least his contract isn’t as long as some of the signings we’ve made before.

Will Randall arrived with a fair bit of excitement, and that didn’t work out. Sometimes the ones who come in quietly and go under the radar turn out to be solid squad players.
