Game 21 - Stags (A)

Team: Mansfield Town

Date: 08/12/18

Where: Field Mill

What line-up should Harry Kewell opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

This wontΒ be a easy game for Notts the first thought the league position the way the two teams are playing also add fuel to the fire. It’sΒ Ardleys first game in charge (league) and he hasn’t had much time to change things.Β

If Notts are going to win they need to come out fighting be confident in there play and passing. Keep defencely tight and Not playing Duffy and Brisley is key as well.Β

The last 10 minutes needs to be tight at the back talk to each other and play as one.Β

Mansfield will come out and want to play they will want the three points and to add salt in our wounds and continue the dominant in the local Derby.Β

So Ardley's first competitive league fixture. Tough one to call and as stated in the previous PONCast this game could go either way. It WILL NOT be a walk in the park for Mansfield I refuse to admit it so I hope we show some resilience. Mansfield fielded their first 11 apart from the keeper on Tuesday night against Bury as they were knocked out of the Checkatrade to a 1-0 defeat at home.

Their obvious danger men are CJ Hamilton, Tyler Walker and Danny Rose. They as a front three will cause us all sorts of issues. From what I have seen they like to walk the ball into the box and shoot from angles instead of shooting from the middle. So I imagine a barrage of shots from Walker and Hamilton.Β

Ardley hinted that there would be some faces returning to the side this Saturday. Hopefully if Stead, Dennis and Hemmings are all fit we could cause some serious issues top a slow Mansfield back line. Bishop is quality in the middle but is showing his age so maybe we could exploit that by adding a pacey Hewitt/Husin into the middle. I would like to see David Vaughan instead of Milsom but I just can't see it.

A derby win would lift the spirits in the camp massively and get fans right behind the new regime at Notts. Thoroughly looking forward to the game.

4-4-2

Lineup: Fitz / Davies - Turley - Ward - Evina / Thomas - Vaughan - Hewitt - Hawkridge / Hemmings - Dennis

Ill go for a 2-1 win for Notts and that's being hopeful. If we could just show some fight for once then maybe I can be happy. Hemmings to score a brace.Β Β

notts needs to go in prepared and ready to fight, no mistakes and just tidy football.

i dont care if they scrap it out or hoof it at times, they just need to have structure and to play as a team. i am hoping mansfield dont have a field day with us.

It's going to be a difficult game for Notts.

I still feel the scoreline could end up 2-1 but god knows who too. Notts will need to trouble Mansfield's defence and I can see them setting themselves fully expecting Neal Ardley's men to play through the middle since we lack pace on the flanks. This is something I feel could give Notts some way to get into the game, I wouldn't start three up top and I would allow the team to play too deep.

Battle of the midfield as always.

2-0 Mansfield. Comfortable as cheese for them. We have no midfield, no right back, we can't defend crosses, we have no cohesion, we are 8 games without a win and they have lost once all season. I'm already preparing my disappointed face

I hope Notts don't end up embarrassing themselves, all we need is those Mansfield podcastersΒ releasing awkward jokes at our expence. It would be nice if we could get the last laugh and steal or deserve a win.

I don’t mind the good humoured banter, just want the lads to give all they have , especially hard work , unity , passion for the shirt the club the fans , and then what will be will be , it won’t be anywhere near our strongest team so a point would be a good result , but I’m greedy so COYP let’s have 3 , just please don’t get a pasting, COYPΒ

I don't think we will win this upcoming game because our team isn't perfect but also the way Mansfield's ground works. The stewards bully the fans and their supporters arn't much better. I can't imagine what it would be like for the players.

Fortunes have to change sooner or later but I doubt it will be this game lads.

Notts doesn't have the mentality to retain a lead and they are not good against decent teams, I hate to say it but Mansfield should win easily. If they don't it will be down to themselves being poor or wasteful.

Team news

It looks like Jamie Turley is at right back, I would have rather seen him play at centre back.

I agree mate he he more of a right back player .. but I’m hoping Neal gets this right because he is a quality player
