Once the takeover is completed, do you want to see Notts focus on scouting as a means to improve the recruitment?

Nottingham Forest took on Tommy Johnson has as a scout after appointing Martin O'Neil, does the club need to have the best scouts available or just people with a good knowledge of football and understand what Notts needs?

I would take any former player over someone who might not understand the club.

Scouting we need to focus on more because recruitment is never short of a shambles at Notts. Need scouts in different areas of the country and actually at other games not just videos of players.

I've seen they are lining up Marc Bircham although he has no official title. I would take either proper scouts or former players tbh

I don't think we will have any time to.

There's a large network of coaches who volunteer and Notts helps them with their badges, such as the younger development squads.

If I was the chairman of the club, not only would I encourage fans to send in recommendations which could be properly scouted by a main team - I would also think about seeing if some of these coaches and other footballing minded people could assist with unearthing talent. Most of the time, now it's not about ability, it's about having a football brain and having the maturity to adapt mentally to a challenge.

Pro footballers don't seem to have that fire to drive their careers forward enough these days, it's almost like most are happy with the pay.

Scouting is a must for a club the size of Notts that want to progress. You see that a lot of other clubs, in similar stature to Notts, that have done well have a solid scouting network and as a result sign some top players. However, these clubs also appear to be steady, there's a known direction they are heading, a philosophy if you will.

With Notts, we change the philosophy every-time we sack a manager, which is 2-3 a season, and reflects in our scatter-gun approach.

But yet we persist, throwing our weight behind a failed method, still surprised every time the results come back and we again have underachieved.

That's where I would draw the line. A few fans who are knowledgeable in football in their local area perhaps, but all fans would be madness. We'd end up with half saying they've unearthed a new gem, some Lion Messy fella, and the other half claiming gems which are actually regens on Football Manager 2019.

We need a proper scouting network if we are to have any chance at all. And it doesn't matter whether they played for us or not - I'd rather have experienced scouts with good contacts and a good eye for a player than some bloke who gets the gig because he was a good player for us back in the day.

The club should seek some older players to be involved, this gives Notts a bit more of an identity and fans appreciate what they do because they have already been here.

No reason why some wouldn't do it to help.

Proper scouts and network is a must, I wonder if the previous people even bothered to find out what any of last seasons signings are really like.

I don’t know what currently is there pre-existing, but having contacts among scouts that can track players properly would help. Being in the Non League could see the club unearth so good upcoming players if the right people are there.

Scouting is only a part, you have to have coaches.

We do need better scouts.

A proper scouting network, with a mix of different types of staff doing the observations would be good. I wonder if the club do different types or just focus on now and then?

Notts only ever appointed a chief scout, they need several to make it work and tracking players over two to three seasons would cut out some of the deadwood the club tends to sign.

scouting and the youth team are equally as important, get both right and the club might learn to move forward finally.

Foundations applied properly, the club addressing the staffing issue and that much needed stability found. I think the youth team and the scouting network should be addressed. I was pleased when The Post reported that the South Africans wanted to bring the former QPR player to help with this.
