I believe Stuart Maynard will be our next gaffer, not due to bookies’ odds but his success with Wealdstone. His career aligns with what the brothers seek, someone stable and unsacked.2 points

I saw his interview on East Midlands Today. He looked quite different, and it was horrible to see just how much he had changed. I know, he's 75, but he's always looked rather healthy. It's such a shame; I really wish him and his family all the best. I don't feel it's appropriate to share an image of him from the interview, but for anyone who saw it will understand what I mean. It's awful! When I worked at Harts Restaurant and Hotel, I met him many times and due to our first encounter whenever he was in - he would ask to say hello to me. The first time I met him, I froze and thought that I would be sacked instantly because I was working as a kitchen porter. I had to fetch something from the store room and, the general manager hated kitchen staff being seen in the lobby areas, but there was no other way to access it. The head chef used to pop his head out of the kitchen door to see if the coast was clear for us 'unseen workers'. It just so happens that I was wearing an old Notts shirt (plain white), I was coming down some stairs as I noticed Sven walking from the direction of the men's room. I was overwhelmed and a little starstruck. We're not supposed to interact with dinners or guests, he walked up to me and said "Hello", I didn't reply. He said, 'Oh, I see. You support Nottingham County;. I replied. 'Yes, I support Notts County.' He asked me how long I had supported them, he replied 'I like Nottingham and Nottingham County. He also enquired about Forest, which is where I politely mentioned that it is Notts County and Nottingham Forest, informing Sven that people wouldn't like it and would pick up on it. He thanked me and asked if I would be watching the next Notts game. I told him I would be working, but I do make games when my rota is free. A little side note, one of the other times Sven spoke to me, I mentioned that I was floating the idea of taking my Notts forum more seriously. It was him, who told me to do it. I called @GrannyPie on my break and told her about this, briefly speaking to @super_ram. In 2006, I started a basic forum under the domain notts-county.co.uk. It was just family and select friends, quite a simple setup. It merged into the Pride of Nottingham. I'm very thankful for the kindness Sven showed me because it proved what a gentleman he is.2 points

Northampton 1 Notts County 1, March 1971 In black and white. Just footage of the Notts goal, but what a goal. A typical headed goal from a Notts County great Tony Hateley, with an assist by Brian Stubbs. Tony was one of the best headers of a ball in Footballing history. He came back to Notts to help Notts get promoted, and he did just that.1 point

I took grandson George to see the ladies play when they were in the top league and played at Meadow Lane we enjoyed it and I think it was good for him to see that women can play football too.1 point

@super_ram yes I have, although the contestants are far too quick and get the answers while I’m still thinking about it.1 point

That’s a great story @Chris thanks for sharing it. I’ve heard other people say what a friendly guy he is and how he lives for football, Neil Bishop told some good stories about him when they were both at Notts, how he’d turn up in the pouring rain to watch training etc. Err, you won’t think that when you’re in your 70s like me and @super_ram I want to have a few more years yet. I’m only teasing @liampie when I was your age I thought 75 was ancient.1 point

Well you completed it so that’s good, some days it’s that hard/obscure that it’s almost impossible but good for the brain.1 point

The big big plus is Notts score goals. A team that can come back from two goals down and then be behind twice more, then get themselves into a position to win the match, just demonstrates that Notts have the best attacking threat in this league1 point

Sven played a part in encouraging the Pride of Nottingham? What a man. He wasn't treated very well when he took charge of England, but my respect was earned for all he did for Notts. I found the news to be very sad, but at least he has spoken confidently and has said he will live every day to the fullest. I wish him well, despite the awful news.1 point

I'm also not suggesting we rush him back, and this is based on complete non-scientific fact, but I get the indication Matty Palmer is super-human. In terms of pure fitness, his body is able to recover quicker than most... I've seen the whole video and he's already moving very well and is able to put quite a bit of force onto his 'injured' right knee too.1 point

This is another area I need to educate myself on, as I don't know many tennis players, but I do like to watch it. It would be nice if we had more than Andy Murray competing for grand slams, but we put way too much pressure on talent. Emma Raducanu is a prime example of this. I'm also pleased to see the tweet about Alfie Hewett. Someone can correct me, but I believe it was Alfie who did that powerful video about treating him the same and not criticising disabled athletes for being boring.1 point

i think this is who we are after and i think the reason its taking longer to appoint someone is because we are looking to hire someone who is currently already hired. compensation is probably the main reason reason, as i feel the reedtz will have already compiled a list of managers well before luke williams had left. if we are going outside of this, i still quite like gary rowett as i think he would do well with our squad.1 point

Nottingham RFC recently had their ground flooded and damaged during the recent adverse weather. The club have had to postpone their home matches at 'the bay' due to the flooding.1 point

Just to point out in case anyone missed it, that story is from when Burchnall left. I don't remember him at all, but our approach back then might explain why he's being mentioned now. The odds aren't really changing much, a lot of the names have just been linked with us in the past.1 point

Some other names that have featured with the betting sites that haven't been mentioned on here yet are: Ruaidhri Higgins - Current Derry City manager. Scot Lindsey - Current Crawley manager. Daniel Stendel - Former Barnsley manager and current Hannover 96 reserve team manager. Cameron Toshack - Son of John, last job was a first team coach at Leeds. And interestingly he has spent a lot of time coaching at Swansea. Matt Gill - Former player (I don't really remember him, so he clearly wasn't great) current Southampton Assistant Coach. And he took over LW role when he left Swansea for us...1 point

Each season I try to give back to the community. Obviously, last season proved difficult, but as I was prepared to sort through all the prints I have made since 2018 - which proved to be a terrible season to start, I thought that there might be fans out there who might appreciate being given one. Whilst some fans collect programmes, I have accumulated various player prints from past seasons, and as a whole I have learned about not overstocking them. Heading into the 2021/22 season, my wife joked about where I planned to put the new stock once I had finished them. I mean, 8 new variants, and others - it does start to consume space. That is where a mass giving of these mostly redundant prints is formulated. However, I wanted fans to be involved. I thought that fans could name a worthy cause, and therefore it would be focused on the gesture of that fan - rather than me simply wanting to get rid of them. I don't personally agree with just throwing things out, as I know full well - that players can make a significant impact on your thoughts even if others don't rate them, or see how kind they can be. I know Matt Tootle is one of these types, that would do anything and everything to help fans. Plus there's the fact that many are actually signed by the players personally, so there's a keep sake element to it. Whilst the majority of prints I am giving away have simply expired in terms of interest from supporters, I have added quite a lot of ones which do have demand. These have fallen into giveaways, plus backing ARLukomski who is on the road to 2k subscribers on his YouTube channel. If you're a fan of Notts County, and haven't subbed yet or enjoy watching passionate fans document their footballing journey please subscribe here. My mission on Saturday is to find the majority, if not all of these worthy nominations, and to just try to make a difference. I firmly believe that small acts of kindness can make a positive impression, so I will do my best to ensure this goes ahead. I am planning on giving some away as prizes, others to random fans I notice. Such as a young supporter in the Kop, who has been waving a Belgium flag at every home game, and has tried to call Elisha Sam over to sign his programme. I have an A4 print of Elisha Sam just for this young fan, so I am hoping to call Sam over myself - get it signed, and then to signal the fan, so Elisha can hand the print over himself. If this can't be done, handing over the print will have a similar effect I imagine, however, if I can encourage Sam to do it - I think that would be a nice interaction for both him and his fan. I aim to follow this up by writing about tomorrow's match, and the reactions. Whilst this might not be the most interesting subject, I think it shows a different side, and one that's not all focused on something often seen. Behind the scenes, I do a lot of good, and I have for over 13 years now - 11 of which is via the Pride of Nottingham.1 point
