Training for half marathon Roosendaal: 'The knowledge of the body lays the foundation'
Marcel Cas was electrician, professional footballer, recovery trainer at Feyenoord and is now a personal trainer that makes people run faster in the Roversrun and Half Marathon of Roosendaal.

As a footballer at RBC, Notts County and FC Den Bosch, Marcel Cas (45) was mainly a trotter, he admits equitably. ,, I liked to walk. Also outside the field. "Cas still looks like the prototype of the fit, not to be broken athlete.

However, under his skin, the insidious danger of a hernia lurks. ,, That is also the reason that I have become interested in the human body. Mine is to hell, but I just want to continue exercising. The only way to achieve that is to train in the right way. By doing my exercises faithfully every day, I stay fit. "

    Patchwork
The Cas born and raised in Breda came from school as an electrician. ,, I also worked as a electrician for a while. "In combination with the training at RBC, that is.

When the first injuries came, Cas was already interested in the lay-out work of physiotherapists and sports masseurs. ,, Because of that hernia I really started working on it. I went to study. First sports massage, taping, rehabilitation techniques, physiotherapy; until I got to work at Axis. From there I went to RKC. "

    Recovery trainer
Cas stood out with Leo Beenhakker. He got him to Feyenoord, to work there as a recovery trainer. ,, They wanted someone there who knew what it was to be a professional footballer. "

Since April of this year, Cas has been working at Dynamico, which among other things monitors the fitness of the players of NAC. Last week he went to work with Chiro Ntoko. The defender turned out to be quite sensitive to injury in recent years. Typically a job for Cas to get and keep such a player fit.

    Injury-free
"I do not care if I work with top athletes or recreationists," he says about his work as a personal trainer, whether he is working with ladies who want to lose weight right away, with amateur athletes or pros, are the starting point. is always the same: ,, You strive for perfection, but the most important thing is that someone remains injury-free. "

He himself claims to be the best proof of the effectiveness of his approach. "In England I trained my body so well, that I have not been injured once." He also learned that too much training can be disastrous. "In the Netherlands this happens quite often. because they play more, if you play you are more focused and the chance of injuries is smaller. "

According to him, holidaymakers should be more careful with what they do. "Improving is in people," says Cas. "The biggest mistake that is made with this is a lack of knowledge, whether it's about walking faster, wanting to walk longer, getting stronger or losing weight."

    Responsible
He establishes that people increasingly use a personal trainer to ensure that this process runs responsibly.

In that respect, the work of an electrician and a personal trainer ultimately does not differ greatly: "I notice that our work has become much more accessible. People who want to achieve a goal are now prepared to pay for it. Of course they also have to be prepared to train twice a week. To be consequent. Otherwise it does not make sense. "

  5. Being a young supporter, I have only seen a few good seasons and the best time was during the 2009/2010 campaign when Munto lead us on the amazing but disappointing dream of making it to the Premier League.

In college today, I have been assigned to write about the "history and heritage" of Nottingham.

It got me wondering about Notts, a part from the 2009/2010 season and the 150th year, Notts hardly market anything to do with our history or heritage. I mean we are the oldest professional football league club, yet there's very little highlighted about this. Does anyone else feel the club should do more about this?

  6. I'm curious how PON members approach buying a new phone, now this can include a contract (as you do pay for the handset technically via your monthly fees).

Do you look for a bargain? Prefer specs? Does it have to be stylish or a big name?

Does the colour, size or OS play a part in your decision? I know some IOS users are now moving over to Android due to the way Apple only moderately change specs and have also fallen behind in the innovation department. Others feel like Android is becoming more like IOS, rather than adding their own new features.

    Let me know below...

  7. So for those not going out to watch the England game but watching it with a take away and beer. So what is your takeaway of choice and beer or drink.

  8. So at half time there is normally a rush or before hand to grab the half time pie. What’s everyones favourite filling.?

"I believe we can win it - anyone can. I cannot sit here and say we are not going to win it because we could do.

It is my mindset and I want to win at everything I do. The players in the team want to as well. It is worth fighting for. I am sure we have all had dreams of lifting it and it is an opportunity for us."

why has southgate made him the captain too? i hope his words match the effort on the pitch.

    :lol::lol::lol:

  15. Hello PON Community, I have set up a dream team league for us all to enter over the world cup period. Just create an account then use the pin provided to join the PON league I have created. Pick the players you want within the budget and see how many points they can win for you. No gain from it just a bit of fun and a pass time while the football league season is over Hoping to get quite a few of you involved :) Any questions either tag me in a comment of private message me!

  16. So at half time what does everyone go for in terms of food.

  17. Guys we have a new member @ScottyP can we take the time to say hello to him please and welcome him. @ScottyP maybe you introduce your self and tell us a little bout your self.

  18. Hello,

My names James, I've supported Notts since 1997. My father used to take me down to Meadow Lane with my uncle and cousins, I go to matches on my own these days though. I'm a Kopite and my favourite player that I have seen is Paul Heffernan hence my name here.

There is probably better names I could have picked.

  19. As a club, Notts are doing well. We are bringing in young players and developing them and they intern are helping us move forward as a club

But these are two models we cannot replicate

    1) Crewe. They flooded their team with youth players too fast, too soon and it has done nothing for them apart from plunder them into successive relegation battles. I'm not saying them players are bad, I'm saying you can't rush youth players (especially lots of them) too fast, too soon into the first team

    2) Southampton and Barnsley. Buying players then sell them on. It doesn't move the club forward. It eventually caught up on both clubs. Southampton eventually made a wrong decision in appointing Pellegrino. They can somewhat get away with it as they are in the Premier League. For Barnsley, they weren't so fortunate. Barnsley sold Holgate, Mawson, Winnall, Bree, Hourihane, Roberts and MacDonald all within under two years. Added to that key players such as Scowen and Watkins left. The club just dropped back into League One.

  20. So as we go in the new era at Medow Lane Under Alan Hardy but I can’t help but still think back to when we thought the last time we was on the way up ... even signed Sol Campbell but for me he didn’t do nothing and wasn’t worth anything .. what’s your guys thought about his time at Medow Lane

  21. whats everyone doing/been up to today?

anyone doing/done anything special today? its quite nice out there, i dont have any plans myself yet but i was wondering about other pon members.

  22. First half quite good, mostly played in Nigeria half.England should have made more of superiority.Second half was worrying as Nigeria were very much improved, especially when they pulled a goal back.Need to cut out sloppiness and overplaying.Overall a good workout and it was a friendly!

  23. So with the recruitment drive at medow Lane in full affect and going really well. So if Alan Hardy and Kevin Nolan came to you and said you can bring back any player from Notts County’s past team who would it be. Which player from County’s past any era who would you bring back on a one year deal.?
