Despite yesterday's clash against Morecambe being abandoned at Meadow Lane, Pride of Nottingham's very own jack of all trades 'Notts-Joe' took the time to interview several fans.

Questions: What is your assessment of the season so far, and how can the magpies improve? Aside from Jon Stead, where else can Notts get the required goals to win games and who should partner the inform striker upfront? How do you feel about Notts right now? Has things improved off the field/media wise? and more.

thought the two young lads answered very well considering their ages, they gave a lot of detail and the younger fan did very well to balance things up. enjoy this @notts-joe. where is @Cobby these days?

  4. The club has just released this sad news. RIP to a genuine Notts legend.

  5. As the wgs survey brought up the choice or having or not having midweek fixtures i just wondered what people thoughts are on these?

For me there a staple of what football is all about, especially midweek winter games, you can't feel your feet or hands by the time the game kicks off, shivering you sit there waiting with more than normal expectation of watching your team put on a display that will go down in time as "one of those you needed to be at", maybe its the lights, maybe its the temperature or maybe the half time food and drink that when you take your first mouthfull burns but you persist as you desperatly want the warmth, who knows?

For me they epitomise what supporting  football is all about

  6. I went last night. Great atmosphere, decent game with LCFC just edging it although and extra 10 minutes would have seen a Porto equaliser I think. The thing I notice about Leicester everytime I go is that they work incredibly hard for each other and the crowd are (at least for now) very forgiving of mistakes by their team. The Meadow Lane crowd could learn from this. I think this helps Leicester play with no fear of failure.

  7. Well then!

I'm quite pleased to see us in the position we're in. I know 10 games ain't much, but gives you an Idea as to where we might need to improve and general feel for the Season ahead

Have we found out new syste? of course it'll have to change now and again. but carry on like we are and i can see it being a fairly good Season.

    What's your thoughts after games?

  8. As the title says, which league do you think Notts should be in?

League One pushing for the Championship is my answer.

  9. As part of my dissertation, I am researching the influence football support has on a supporter's relationship with, or feeling of, place and community.  I attend The University of Nottingham, and spend much time in and around Nottingham, so am interested in finding out how football support has shaped the way in which local residents feel about the city.

Because of this, I've created a questionnaire, with a link below, which will take less than five minutes to complete, and is completely anonymous.

    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdor1GJh0ffND5NVai1aS1b0nKBJxtmqJweVRxStefgPIIgdQ/viewform

Thank you in advance; any help with this research is much appreciated.

  10. There was a time when Notts looked to be forging connections with teams that wanted to get their own youngsters some football league experience, I recall when we signed Connor Clifford and although he didn't do a great deal (I don't believe he was pushed as much as he could have been).

I just finished reading a post by @Piethagoram and it got me thinking.

Notts seems to do well with upcoming youngsters who have the right attitude when it comes getting experience.

Callum McGregor, Jack Grealish and now Aaron Collins.

I can only think getting youngsters who have a considerable amount of potential but are getting lost with their respective clubs, could be a major benefit for us - I felt the same when we seemed to be working with out neighbours but some of those players didn't seem to have the right attitude. Yet surely, this would be a good thing for own players that coming through the academy?

I'm not suggesting we should forget about our own but the odd youngster in on loan, mixed with our own and experienced players could be a way forward for Notts.

I really don't get why we don't try to forge a relationship with Leicester City and other clubs who have promising talent. Walsall, Rotherham, Hartlepool and even Swindon have done well within this area when it comes to 'good' young loans.

  11. ...to have been at a European Cup/Champions League game at Derby, F-word and Leicester. Only Notts and Mansfield left to complete the set!!

  12. https://mobile.twitter.com/AgainstLeague3/status/771343108655251456/photo/1

Unless Parliament protects football in this country,  the paymasters of the Premier League now seem to dictate to the FA and now towards the EFL, the financial screws for their own end benefit. I am fearful of the Premier League getting the full percentage foreign ownership to vote through no relegation at some point. Imperative that Notts mount a promotion challenge this season.

Pity it's taken so long since the last SLO at Notts. Whilst I commend such actions, more focus needs to be made expanding Notts support

This is a good article. It maybe a case asking supporters to submit their own player analysis ( sometimes as a supporter, you recognise talents in opposition teams and wonder why Notts havent signed them..like Bogle). I am still unsure whether our scouting information is good enough

  15. Our former manager seems to have been caught telling "businessmen" (in reality undercover reporters) how to circumvent rules on third-party ownership of players and using his status as England manager to enrich himself to the tune of 400k a year:

Oh dear. England managers have been sacked for less.

  16. Game 10 - The Grecians (A)

    Team: Exeter City

What line-up should John Sheridan opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

F**king go Pies!! Fantastic result. What are you feeding Stead??? See you guys at NYS next season as we both crash land into L1. #WEREDEFINITELYGOINGDOWN

Great result. Yes Exeter are poor, but Notts did what they had to do. This is not a great league, you don't have to be excellent to get promotion, consistently good will suffice, Notts are ticking that box right now.

What's with the Eddie hoofball comments? It seems I'm missing something.
He can easily play it on the ground but its just a case of he doesn't mess about, unlike some and would probably settle things down - until he couldn't play after a couple of appearances. I would have him there any day of the week.
I'm hoping we can get a good result, yet I'm still not confident at all.

I just heard someone else call it him one time and found it quite funny [emoji23] so just kept using it
  17. I know it's less than ten games into a 46 game season but the abject way RUFC has started this season, plus Stubbs' ridiculously defensive tactics & p**s poor summer recruitment renders his position untenable, & with our next three games being Huddersfield A, Newcastle H & Norwich A he has to go.
Everyone at the club was disappointed when Mr Warnock chose not to take us on at the end of last season but after winning the Scottish Cup with Hibs last season, Millers fans were expecting better than the start we've had. We were in the mix for the signings of Lee Gregory (Millwall) & Tom Bradshaw (Walsall) & record offers were supposedly offered but nothing transpired so to the bargain bucket we headed bringing young "potential" from Scotland, Fisher & Allan (Celtic), Vaulks (Falkirk) & old rubbish crocks Kelvin Wilson (Forest,ex Celtic) & eventually Blackstock (Forest) who finally made a 10 minute substitute debut last Saturday v Cardiff after 4 weeks on the books. Now, we're bringing in a new "Head of recruitment"who should be in place after the next international break.....you couldn't make it up.
Our chairman should hold his hand up & admit he made a massive mistake, get a manager in who has the Championship experience (English) he promised, do away with the Head of recruitment idea & give the new manager the power to bring in the players & backroom staff he requires.

  18. From BBC Sport (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37440689)

Premier League B teams and 'non-English' clubs will not be included in plans to reform the structure of the English Football League.

In May, it was revealed that the EFL, formerly known as the Football League before a rebrand this summer, could expand to include a fifth tier by 2019-20, with 100 teams over five divisions.

It is planned that additional clubs would come from the National League.

EFL clubs met to discuss the proposals for the first time on Thursday.

The exclusion from the plans, which will be voted on by all clubs in June 2017, of extra clubs from non-English leagues would appear to remove any prospect of Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers being involved in the EFL in the foreseeable future. Welsh clubs Cardiff and Newport already compete in the EFL.

Meanwhile, the idea to include Premier League B teams in any restructure which formed part of the Football Association commission's four-point plan to boost English football, has also been rejected.

"The logical place for many was to source the additional teams for League Three from the National League," EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey said.

"We will now continue our consultation with the National League with a little more certainty as to what any change could mean for them."

This season, the Checkatrade Trophy has included under-21 teams from Premier League and Championship clubs for the first time on a trial basis, something which the "overwhelming majority of fans" are against, according to the Football Supporters' Federation.

So this looks like a positive step and alleviates a lot of fears which would have plagued Football League fans.

What do you reckon to this and also to the potential League Three plans?

  19. On Wednesday, Borussia are at home to Barcelona. The workmanlike 2-0 win on Saturday at home to Ingolstadt whcih @Blackville and I were at was Gladbach's 10th successive home win. 11 would be a club record. Nothing like choosing easy opposition to break a record against!!

    Still, Messi's not playing...

  20. have the players now got a better understanding what js wants from them?

i think if we can score, notts start to play better and i do think things are progressing now.
