Good morning PoN, I hope everyone is well. This is our second day in our static on the coast we had a very comfortable night, only just woke up 8.30 must be a record for me.
It’s matchday today whose going, whose listening? I’ll be trying to catch up on the score on my phone, let’s hope we put Friday behind us and kick start the season.
Whats everyone up to, let PoN know.
TV sizes are becoming ridiculously big, here in the states it's not uncommon to see them 60inchs or above now. There's no need to sit right up to the TV anymore is there?
So, what TV do you own and how big is it?
Remember size doesn't matter. ????
Good morning PoN, it’s a cloudy start here but dry and warm. I’m up early because we are off to the coast with our eldest grandchildren, we’ve got a static van for the week. We’ve just got to pack the last things in the car then pick the kids up, I say kids but they’re teenagers now, time flies.
Thanks to everyone who engages in the daily chat thread it’s doing really well, I hope to continue whilst away but don’t forget anyone can start the thread so if you come on the forum and it isn’t there feel free to start it.
Have a great day and let us know what your day holds for you.
Guys would you join me in welcoming our newest member @Lynn MacLean to our community

good and bad player at the same time, he will most likely become a fan favourite.
His first goal was a screamer, could have done with him having a go on target against Yeovil.
I did see a Crawley town fan post that he tends to drift in and out of games, when we first signed him. Hope he'll score us some goals though COYP
As the topic title says, is the US ways of doing things taking over?
American words sneaking into the English language, people referring to items in shops as "merchandise" and many other things. Thoughts?

Which player has been the biggest disappointment so far and why?
It's early days, players can and most likely will improve but until then I would like to know what the PON community thinks.

Is anyone currently reading a book? if so name what it is and a brief outline of what you think about it.
I do tend to read a book between driving and transporting goods across America, the free time I have is limited as to what I can do but I enjoy a good book.

..or the chickens coming home to roost.
The defence last season was so well protected by the likes of Hewitt, Yates and Hawkridge and since the departure of Yates, he was the key player that has not been replaced.
Player identification is the key for success. Look at Accrington last season, 23rd in L2 in terms of revenues yet the budget was allocated so precisely and a balanced team won promotion
By offering O'Connor allegedly 3 contract offers, we then panicked and signed Vaughan...the wrong type of midfielder when we already had Husin. Neither can tackle and win the second ball, yet players like Harry Pell were available at the right price and Colchester rightly identified him as a Bishop / O'Connor / Yates like midfielder
Similarly, Omar Sowunmi contract had expired and his towering performance Friday night, showed that there were better players than offering Duffy a new contract.
Calls for Hewitt to return to midfield I hear people voice out loud,. However, he must have one of the worst pass completion rates in L2. If we are serious about promotion, are there better midfielders available ( see Pell above!)
Brentford built their success on their own "moneyball" model. Even scouring Europe for "value for money" players that could give you a competitive advantage. Southampton also devoted a lot of resources behind the scenes watching lower European league videos, looking for "gems" at a low price.
Fitzsimons, has come under a lot of criticism but he was blameless against Yeovil, and it can be argued his saves, could have prevented a 0-8 loss
Well the loan window needs to be used to get that key central midfield bully.
It's early days too, but the strikers don't look like "natural goal scorers". You look at some strikers and can recognise a goal scoring instinct and coolness in front of goal. I just don't see that with Dennis and Hemmings at the moment.

I have been annoyed, disappointed and angered already this season.
After time to think about what has happened, I do calm down and I see that Notts have improved other the last few games since the opening day draw against Colchester United. I would be more concerned right now if Notts gave into the minority who want Kevin Nolan out.
There will be pressure on the club, players and manager, it's for them to balance this out.
I just feel right now that sacking Nolan would lead to further unrest and he has yet to be given fair time to sort his squad out, some managers you know won't accept anything less than what they want in the long run. I have faith in Nolan to sort it all out. How concerned are you about the slow start?

I’ve read @Chris‘s article about the match yesterday and he hints at a bad atmosphere in the kop, I’ve also heard other fans mention the vitriol and nastiness expressed by some fans mainly in the kop.
This is one reason why I stopped going in the kop especially when things are going wrong for Notts, the atmosphere is great when we are winning but the knives come out if we are playing badly and losing.
Ok the Pavis is full of shall we say more mature (age wise) people and I feel that the older fan like myself have gone through lots of bad seasons and still supported through the lean years as well as the glory years.
In the Pavis last year I saw more encouragement at the end of the match not a lot of booing just disappointment more than anything else, the fans there seem to be more forgiving.
The above is just my opinion I know not all kop fans are the same and I have no wish to upset any of them.

come on kevin nolan sort it out, prove the doubters wrong.
I see nothing with how he speaks, what he says or how he appears.
Fans are jumping the gun and once one says differently, it just takes a few to agree before it's all over the place.
He sounds and looks more annoyed then he is letting on there.
Good morning PoN, it’s a grey start here and quite breezy but dry.
We are back in our bed after I have persuaded Mrs. BigTone that the enormous spider she saw Friday has packed his bags and gone, hopefully to never return.
Today we are getting excited because we are getting packed ready for a holiday with our eldest grandchildren, we don’t see them regularly since our son died in 2012 so this is a real bonus for us, tomorrow we are going to the coast, we’ve hired a static van for 5 days Mon-Fri, looking forward to lots of fun.
So what is everyone else up to, family time? Big fat Sunday roast? Day in the country? Or just chillaxing? Let us know what’s happening in your life today.
So a little later than normal apologies but we have a new caption picture taken by the gaffer himself @Chris. The winning caption will be revealed on Sunday after @super_pie and Notts-pool pic a winner.
Good luck every one

Even if the penalty had gone it wouldn't have made much difference, Hemmings had the right idea but put too much power on it.
horrible to re watch them goals, very annoying because we played well attacking.
Oh lord, that is awful defending and keeping. It would have been a million times worse watching that slaughtering live!
