  1. Apparently St Mirren are interviewing jamie fullarton St Mirren who are bottom of the scottish championship.

I hope he doesn't get another footballing job no one should have to go through his footballing ways god help them if he gets the job

  2. Hi, I wonder if you can help me please? I'm involved in a project to identify the first Black players for each of the 92 league sides. I think the late Pedro Richards was County's first having made his debut at Sunderland on 23 November 1974 (I was there!). He was followed by Tristan Benjamin who made his debut at West Brom on 2 April 1975. Does anyone know of any earlier Black County players please?

  3. So what's everyone been up to today, and did Santa get you anything nice?

Standard Christmas day for myself - present-opening in the morning, helped cook a massive roast dinner while picking away at a gingerbread house, consumed said dinner with family, then proceeded to pass out for the deepest two-hour nap of my life.

  4. There are several members who are aware that the several past weeks haven't been the best for my family. Whilst the messages of support and concern have really gone along way, as I know this will mean a lot not just to @GrannyPie but @super_ram too.

My mum is firmly on the mend now and is awaiting permission to come home (where she belongs).

The kind well wishes have meant the world to us, I have passed them onto Granny at every given chance that I have had and I'm just wanting to ensure folks that the organ grinder will back very shortly - so mind those sticks of hers! I really didn't want to write anything publicly on the forum, at least not until things was clearer but just knowing how much Granny and Super are firmly apart the community here - I did want to take a moment just to say.

Thanks for all the supportive messages folks.

  5. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/dec/22/notts-county-takeover-alan-hardy-ray-trew#img-1

Just a recap over 14m accumalted debts, 2 million written off.

Supporters would be more understanding if there was some transparency, to be aware of how things have been allowed to get this far

  6. ..... for people who don't like brussel sprouts.  I'll be honest, I'm a sprout lover, I could eat a plate full of them with gravy.  My 3 kids however were like most kids - they were tempted to phone Childline if one appeared on their plate!  They will all be round for Christmas dinner on the 25th, and one of them actually said "make sure you do those brussel sprouts again", so here is my recipe for caramelised brussel sprouts:

Cut the sprouts in half, boil them in lightly salted water for 5 minutes, then drain thoroughly.

Take a frying pan, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, a knob of butter, a tablespoon of honey, a teaspoon of brown sugar, two rashers of bacon cut into small cubes, add black pepper to season.

Lightly cook the above, then add the sprouts stirring regularly so they absorb the juice, and cook for 10 minutes.

A bit more effort than simply boiling them, but well worth it.

    Happy Christmas to all.

  7. In my opinion we can't as we have had a bad run off form and take on 3 of the top 7.

  8. Overall that was good performance AFTER we went 2-0 down. However, only Ricardo seems to be able to get away with 0-2 reverses and get something out of a game. Nice away section at Posh, much better than the Camp Nou! Decent following from NCFC, mostly supportive and trying to get behind the team. Perhaps it's time for the team to get behind the club and its fans?

    1. Loach 7/10 - Totally exposed by his defence for the two goals. Stopped everything he could.

    2. Tootle 5/10 - Nothing really came down his side, did OK in defence but not enough going forward.

    3. Audel 6/10 - Did some good things but got caught out of position on a number of occasions. He does at least try.

    4. Smith 6/10 - Battled hard but often overwhelmed. Left a hole behind him for goal no. 2. Not quite enough going forward.

    5. Duffy 1/10 - Dreadful for the first 15 minutes which cost us the game, then actually played quite well, but must go now.

    6. Hollis 1/10 - Outclassed

    7. Thompson 4/10 - Obvioulsy not match fit yet. Harsh to to judge him on just this performance.

    8. Richards 2/10 - Outclassed. Still a kid of course and will be much better in the future.

    9. Stead 3/10 - It would be 6 but for a dreadful penalty. HIT THE ?~+%&$%£$%" BALL HARD.

    10. Forte 8/10 - My MOM, kept trying, worried their defence unlucky with the shot off the bar.

    11. Milsom 6/10 - Steady but sometimes needs to move the ball quicker.

Subs, Oliver (waste of space), Collins (never got on the ball), Campbell (looked good for 10 minutes, then had his position changed when the other subs were made and faded)

Management team 2/10 - Nothing wrong with the tactics, but why wasn't Laing playing? However, they are culpable for these appalling starts.

Trew -9/10 - He has saddled the club with a lot more debt than just the HMRC bill. (From a club employee last night)

  9. I was very interested to read the views of the Trust chairman on the takeover in the NEP this morning: http://www.nottinghampost.com/notts-county-supporters-trust-welcome-alan-hardy-takeover/story-29997862-detail/story.html

While I don't disagree with what he says, as a former member I was of the impression that the Supporters' Trust had been wound up. They have no website and there seems to be no way of finding out who's involved with it.

During the takeover saga it did cross my mind that we needed an organisation to act as the fans' mouthpiece. I find it a bit strange that they were silent all this time (and for years previously) and suddenly pop up again now.

  10. For me it would have been at the magnificent Zoostadion in Wuppertal in the 1990's when it was so cold the beer and all the soft drinks froze so all the crowd hed to drink gluhwein!

  11. I'm not sure if I missed this ... on 19 December our court appearance for the winding-up order was adjourned until February so that the sale of the club can go through.

While this is welcome, surely it means that we still have a transfer embargo. And thus no signings in the January window, which would leave us in severe trouble. Or am I standing on the hose?

  12. What do you all predict the score to be tonight?

  13. I am the only one who wishes we still had him in charge?

Can anyone seriously tell me this shower are any better?

  14. Hi all! I've not been on here as much recently which is no ones fault but mine!

Anyway, its been brought to my attention that notts ladies as well as notts conferencing and events LTD have made applications to be dissolved.

Does this mean a takeover is looming? Notts county is more than one company so it makes the sale very complicated, with 2 of the businesses removed perhaps it would make for an easier sale?

  15. Well done to all who have posted on here recently about the happenings and non-happenings at NCFC and NCLFC. This forum seems to be the only place where there is any credible news these days.

  16. Saturday's Fixtures
    Sheffield Wedneesday v Rotherham United
    Wigan Athletic v Ipswich Town
    Scunthorpe United v Millwall
    Swindon Town v Fleetwood Town
    Barnet v Stevenage
    Morecambe v Cheltenham Town

  17. The Mirror has covered Notts County's impending court visit on Monday following a winding-up petition from HMRC over a tax bill.

They say: "(Notts are) believed to be debts in excess of £500,000, and the Nottingham-based team also needed help from the Football League to pay players' wages late last month.

"Owner Ray Trew has been trying to sell up, and to raise funds as loans.

"Mirror Sport understands County have agreed to sell 15-year-old whizkid Jack Bearne to Liverpool for about £150,000."

Trew himself is quoted as telling the Mirror: “Our petition will be settled ahead of the hearing and that’s all there is to it.

“Firstly I want to know why this is even worthy of column inches when this is not news at all. Hartlepool and Bury have recently been in the High Court and this didn’t warrant a story, so why is Notts County a story?

“The only story you need to write about is why there are so many football clubs being issued with winding up petitions by HMRC.

“If you search the London Gazette and indeed the court listings you will see the likes of Morecambe, Southend and Bolton have all in the last week or so been issued with petitions.

“The fact is HMRC do not treat football clubs like they do other businesses and you will need to speak to them or the Treasury as to the reasons why, but my feeling is we are low-hanging fruit.

“Outside of football I own an accountancy practice and I have clients who not only owe vast sums (ten times what we owe) and are six months in arrears of PAYE but also maybe two quarters behind in their VAT, yet they don’t get issued with such petitions or indeed treated as we do in football.”

In addition, the SLO has confirmed that, as part of the winding-up petition, Notts are under a transfer embargo.

  18. Evening all

December's column looking back on the last month or so of unmitigated shambles:

    https://www.leftlion.co.uk/read/2016/december/left-magpie-december

Best not to read if you're within reach of any sharp objects.

  19. I know it probably seems like a dumb, "stating the obvious" kind question but it's worth asking just to gauge fans' opinions.

With Notts County doing as poorly as they are, what are your main anxieties about where Notts could end up?

Would losing the "World's Oldest Football League Club" be a critical blow for the club? Would we lose Meadow Lane? Would we go into liquidation and see the end of Notts as we know it?

Let's hear what you reckon - let's treat it as therapy (goodness knows we need it at this time!)

  20. I chatted to a few people at the Wycombe game today and the following rumours were all told to me directly by paid emplyees of the club:

    1. NCFC will go into administration on the 17th December.

    2. Some staff have been told the 17th is when some jobs will go.

    3. Ray Trew's solicitors have advised him to accept the £5 million offer from Alan Hardy.

    4. Ray Trew will not put anymore money into the club so debts to everyone will accumulate quickly.

    5. Ray Trew wasn't there today.

    6. There is a chinese consortium about to buy the club.

I can't confirm any of them, but it does indicate a club in toatl chaos

  21. Saturday's Fixtures:
    Newcastle United v Birmingham City
    Reading v Sheffield Wednesday
    Rochdale v Scunthorpe United
    Southend United v Coventry City
    Grimsby Toen v Portsmouth
    Plymouth Argyle v Doncaster Rovers

  22. Collin 4  - Not a lot to do, except pick the ball out of his net. Reminds me of Seamus, knowing we have a keeper that's not good enough. Time for Loach
Laing 4 - Cannot see him lasting pass January, though given a choice, Duffy should be ahead of him in the queue to leave.
Duffy 3 - Obvious now why he went to Eastleigh. Should have stayed there
Hollis 3 - Out jumped by the "lump"
Dickinson 3 - MoftM??? Too slow, holds the whole team back as he has no pace.
Tootle 4 - No pace, little quality, should be imposing himself on games like this but fails miserably. Still cannot hit the target.
O'Connor 5 - Sending off appeared to be given by 4th Official who was in no position to see from that angle. Christmas at home with the family?
Milsom 5 - Would make a more solid left back. My MotM but doesn't say much for the others
Campbell 3  - Hardly in the game
Stead 5.5 - Good that he is back. Only possible goal threat.
Forte 4 - Lacking confidence. Needed to get into game more to offer options to receive the ball

    Substitutes
Oliver 3 - Wins headers to nowhere in particular. Never a goal threat.
Richards 4 - needs to step up to the plate and take responsibility to make things happen. Some older pros around him, not fit to wear the shirt
    Collins 3 -  Just doesn't have a good touch.

Crossley... is he Abbott in disguise? Just feel there is no technical training happening? Defensively woeful, other teams seem to have a game plan. We have nothing.

Sheridan. Seemed to set the team up to start brightly for the first time in ages. Downhill from then on. I get angry that his "picks" seem un-droppable. Utter refusal to give our Youth their chance. Wildin has too start.
