On Saturday 15th July Notts will take on Nottingham For*st in a pre season friendly, kick off 1pm.

Over the years there have been lots of players, coaches, managers etc., who have ventured from our neighbours crossing the Trent to Notts County.

I’ll start you off with a player from the 60’s and 70’s Bill Brindley became a firm favourite at Notts after making the move making 250 appearances and named as player of the season in 1975, he also played for Gillingham and non league sides Grantham, Burton and Alfreton before managing Meadows Albion, Heanor, Ilkeston and Arnold.

How many more links can we find?

Darren Ward and Craig Westcarr, the latter is a player who was vastly underrated during his time with us IMO.

Nigel Jemson?  Didn't he come over from there...or was it a bad dream?

Yes he did, I remember him playing for us.

John Thompson is another player who has played for both Notts and Forest; there will be many more too.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves, but there are some good players mentioned that would do well on the TV show Pointless. I'll raise you all by five, Steve Chettle, Shaun Derry, Eugene Dadi, Harry Arter and John Bostock. The latter should have been mentioned sooner.

@TheSkipper I was trying to remember Eugene Dadi, I couldn’t bring his name to mind, he was on loan if I remember right and he spent most of the few games he played on his backside with his arms in the air appealing to the ref for a foul. 😂

I believe Steve Hodge had a brief stint as the head of the youth system during the ill-fated Trew era, if I remember correctly?

This won’t count, but Harry and James Iremonger played for Forest. James was much like Albert, but made fewer appearances in football.

Those that would count include Adam Nowland, Jason Lee, Gary Mills, Elliot Ward, Brendan Moloney, and Wes Morgan. I can’t think of any others off the top of my head that haven’t already been mentioned.
