Remaye Campbell and Kion Etete?

Stead has made little impact on games recently and I think it was the wrong decision to bench Dennis at the weekend. Stead doesn't score 15/20 goals a season consistently whereas Dennis does. Dennis should start for me but it raises the question of who partners him.

Well in my opinion with Stead not doing a great deal, I think it's a prime opportunity for someone like Etete or Campbell to start. It would never happen as I don' think Ardley trusts either of them but from what I've seen Etete is quick and nimble and an Aerial threat. Campbell is a bully on the field as we saw in pre-season. Campbell is also very very quick possibly quicker than Boldewijn. Pace and Strength scares defenders at this level and I can't help but think these minutes Stead is eating up is where one of the youngsters can be coming through and trying to make their impact on a game.

Etete has been restricted to appearances off the bench often coming late on around the 80 minutes mark. Always coming on from losing postions, with the current mentality of the squad it's pretty much pointless of bringing him on when we're already losing.

I think it's time to drop Stead and give one of these young hungry Strikers to try and make a name for themselves in the game.

I think its time to rethink the whole squad and layout but in a constructive way so they play better and don't need time to adjust, something we don't have.

I'm a bit torn on this. I'd love to see Etete, Campbell or Osborne make an impact for us, but it's hard enough for a young lad to come in when we've got a functioning team. Asking them to save our season is something else entirely.

Neither will be given a chance, at least when it comes to starting. Osborne should be given a chance, however again it seems slim.

neal ardley does not seem to be the person who would give youngsters a chance considering the situation the club finds themselves to be in, i would but he seems to favour experience.

Jon Stead isn't the issue Sam.

He's being caught out by poor instructions and even weaker tactics, him being isolated won't help a youngster who doesn't even have the experience that comes from having played the game at a much higher level. Stead reads the games, he works hard. You can't fault that when there's players who don't give 30%.

Tbh I'd agree about Stead. He's lost like 5 yards of pace. We bought two new strikers and promoted Remaye to the first team so we could add more goals and not keep relying on 36 year old Jon Stead.

Etete should be sent out on loan as he isn't ready yet

Especially with Boldewijn coming back, which is Sam Osbourne's natural position RM.

He's looked okay but I think loaning him out would prove to be a smarter decision, it's the only way he will improve. He needs far more minutes than Notts can currently offer.

I disagree that Jon Stead should be dropped, he's one of few giving his all and he still has goals in him.

Pace naturally declines at his age, his head is still street smart and this isn't something you don't get without experience.

Try to play either on the left, see what works.

I feel Enzio Boldewijn has always looked more a threat when he switches during the game, it makes him very hard to mark.

Sooner or later the club will have to put some faith into their academy products, if Notts had the right characters in the dressing room they would offer support for young players stepping up.

Right now this isn't the case though.

Part of me understands why the club won't risk the youngsters but it's times like this that their hunger could make a real difference, they might make mistakes but all the players do. If they can inject some "no fear" and speed into the squad it will only be a good thing.

Go for it I say.

Totally disagree Stead is the captain of the team and plays well how can he score when he is having to defend really don’t make sense. Stead has done enough to prove himself for me if he don’t get the ball how can he score ?? Notts have had about 5 shots in 3/4 games I was talking to a fan after and we both said how can he score if he ain’t getting the ball. Dennis has a scored a few for Notts this season and important goals in terms of settee Campbell give them the last 10 minutes see what they do .. at the minute we are in a situation where we can’t risk anything and that’s why this may be.

Don't be surprised if Neal Ardley throws a couple of surprises into the first team, more to send a further message to certain squad players.

They might get some game time if no further signings come in, Neal Ardley must use the squad he has at his hands more wisely because starting players who let us fans down week in and out will only cost him his job.

I am surprised he hasn't walked yet.

I want to see youngsters given more of a chance.

Managers won't know if they're ready unless they are prepared to give them several games and a good run, it's what happened with the likes of Curtis Thompson and Haydn Hollis. They might not have been something special but at the time their willingness to work for the chance did help.
