Sloth Leaves by Mutual Consent

No loss, if the club can put the resources into signing another winger that would be a smart move. They should make that move for the player described as being another Cal Roberts.

i do wonder if its because he did not believe he would be played as much as he thought when he signed, it must be annoying being in the shadow of a 38 year old. im not really bothered, notts needs fighters and people who want to play. not those who want to leave.

but it does ask questions as to if he was injured.

It's hard to be disappointed when he never actually played a competitive match, but it does make sense to get rid before it becomes a problem.

On paper he looked to be a good replacement down the line for Michael Doyle, but we still have Ruben Rodrigues who looks quality.

There is enough cover in the centre of midfield, I feel.

Good to Sloth but if he's injured and unhappy, it makes perfect sense to allow him to leave.

but never really stood out too much.

It's difficult to standout in friendlies when you're fighting fitness, he looked to be a good signing.

I'd rather have him than Michael Doyle.

Well the Motherwell fans who said he won’t play a game and be gone before you know it got it spot on!

In all seriousness it’s a shame it hasn’t worked out as there’s clearly potential there. I wonder if that’ll be it for his footballer career, sure I read somewhere he did some modelling in Denmark maybe he just needs a complete change.

That now leaves us a midfielder short… Hmm, how’s Regan Booty’s back, any better yet? 🤔

I didn't want to say it at the time, but from Sloth's profile (and the very fact he signed for us) it was very clear that his career was going downhill fast. That happens for a reason and signings like that are always very risky. We should be glad that he's gone and is off the wage bill rather than being an unhappy face in the dressing room all season.

I don't buy that he's unhappy he wasn't in the team either - we've played one league game, and he wasn't match fit. Looking at the timing of the announcement (the morning after the transfer window closed), it has likely been in the offing for a while and is probably the reason why he wasn't selected on Saturday.

That leaves us with four central midfielders, one of which is currently needed to help out on the wing. If we're going to go with two defensive midfielders like we did last season, we've got nothing in reserve for Reeves and Doyle. I'd like to see a bit more strength in depth there and a new winger. The schedule is really hectic this season and we will need alternatives.

The transfer window just stops him signing for a league club, he's likely to make a return closer to his home or, somewhere overseas IMO.

I woke up to this news, I did feel like 'WTF' but as I thought about it. I can't see him getting much game time, he looks to be a good player with experience but that can be a luxury in hindsight. I'm not too bothered, there's players out there who will be good signings if we recruit well.

It doesn't effective anything either, so, good luck to him.

Home Sick? I know Nottingham isn't the most glamorous city in the United Kingdom, but he did spend longer in Leeds.

Need I say more?

That's a bit of a weird statement.

Casper Sloth is a player who possesses unknown quality. We know he was good 4, 5 years ago, but since his career has been on a downward trajectory.

As you say yourself, it's difficult to judge a player in friendlies when fighting fitness, so how an unknown quantity is now better than Doyle, is a strange one to me.

No point debating if he could've been a good player for us, he's left and we can only find a replacement if that is in the plans.

''Neal Ardley has revealed how Casper Sloth asked to leave Notts County after he was left out of the squad to face Dover - despite being urged to fight for his place'' -  it sounds really strange (stupid)

It reminds me of Sven Goran Eriksson and Sol Campbell arrival.

Yep. The last thing we need in the NL are players who think they are too good for this level or too good for this team. Nobody is an automatic shoe-in to this team because they played a handful of games for Leeds 5 years ago.

Dodged a bullet there I think!

Be interesting to see who they bring in.

@DangerousSausage It's surprising how mardy some footballers can be, I think this is a new one for Notts. A player who believes he should be starting ahead of others when unfit and, wants out for missing a single game.

He is now training at FC Helsingør. Danish 2nd tier.

That's about League 2 level - at best.

Good temperamental players isn't always a bad thing, its about how you manage them. I do feel Casper Sloth seemed to feel he could walk into the squad based on what Neal Ardley has said in his interviews, no player should demand this unless they can deliver 100% on the pitch.

Having seen him in the pre-season frriendlies, I don't think he was ready to replace anyone.

It's perhaps for the best we allowed him to move on.

He came across as one of those hyped signings destined to fail, but I am surprised it was this quick. The club did right in releasing him but actually signing him in the first place seems to be somewhat misguided
