  1. In the wake of Notts County's exhilarating 4-3 triumph over Forest Green Rovers, which propelled them to the pinnacle of the league table, manager Luke Williams remains grounded in his optimism. He is fully aware of the arduous journey that lies ahead in the football season. "We've won nothing, and we've got a long, long way to go," Williams stressed, his words echoing the stark reality of the football season. "We certainly have to perform better than that." Williams was swift to recognise the calibre of their adversaries. "Forest Green is excellent," he declared, a statement imbued with genuine respect. He anticipates their continued ascent in the division, transforming each match into a formidable challenge. Reflecting on the game, Williams voiced his aspiration for superior control after securing a two-goal lead in the first half. "When you're two-nil up after 45 minutes, you should be able to make the game more calm," he elucidated, underlining the significance of retaining composure in such circumstances. As Notts County endeavour to preserve their top spot on the table, Williams recognises that consistency and enhancement will be instrumental in navigating the lengthy and demanding season ahead. While the victory was indeed thrilling, it also revealed areas requiring fine-tuning. The manager's prudence serves as a stark reminder that the path to success is often strewn with obstacles and setbacks. However, Williams and his team are primed to confront these hurdles head-on, armed with a commitment to perpetual improvement and a pragmatic perspective of their journey. The unwavering dedication of Notts County's supporters is evident. They comprehend that this season is more akin to a marathon than a sprint. They persist in rallying behind their team, cognisant that each victory and each lesson learned propels them closer to their objectives. As the season progresses, Notts County remains concentrated on their immediate tasks, continually striving for superior performances. They understand that the challenges they encounter will only enhance the sweetness of their victories. With determination and humility at their core, they eagerly anticipate what lies ahead, ready to embrace whatever comes their way. 2. its a very sensible approach by our manager, luke williams knows we need to keep our feet on the ground and focus on each game as they come. its easy to become complacent but when you approach things like this, it keeps you working towards the long term goal. i think this season is just as incredible as our last campaign, such great work going on by the club and coaching team. luke williams is the king!

  3. There’s undoubtedly a belief that we have the potential to excel. Without explicitly stating it, if our growth continues, I don’t see why we couldn’t enjoy another successful season. However, there’s still a considerable journey ahead. Luke Williams is well aware of this and our aim is to maintain our form as best as we can. Winning matches instils a certain mindset within the team, which becomes second nature and almost instinctive. Therefore, by Williams taking each match as it comes, we remain grounded and able to concentrate on what truly matters.

  4. Luke Williams isn’t mistaken, there’s a considerable journey ahead and we’re aware that he’s thrilled deep down, yet he’s preserving the professionalism we’ve all grown to appreciate. He won’t dwell too much on leading the league, but he’ll aim to keep a favourable position and when the time is right, I believe we’ll see him coax more from our team. The players and coaching staff have made remarkable progress, it’s delightful to anticipate another thrilling season, but I’ll adopt Williams’ approach and concentrate on each task at hand.

  5. There’s no harm in believing that Notts can clinch the league title or secure automatic promotion. As fans, we need to remain neutral and support the team throughout their matches. If we face any setbacks or hiccups, I have faith that Luke Williams can navigate them effectively. He’s crafting a formula for success and, more importantly, instilling belief in each player. Given our current performance, it’s hard to predict when our winning streak might end. With matches against Swindon Town and Mansfield on the horizon, performing well against Colchester United is crucial to keep up the pressure.

  6. It's a fantastic beginning, but we must continue to work on some of the mistakes we make. It is important that we do so, as it allows us to sustain the pressure. I do not consider the fact that we conceded three goals last Saturday against Forest Green Rovers to be a big issue, as long as it does not happen again. I believe it was simply one of those games where both teams posed problems for each other. However, moving forward, we would appreciate clean sheets and strong performances.

  7. It's not as easy as Notts has made it look. Luke Williams is right to give the teams we face their credit and acknowledge the difficulty they bring. That shows a lot of focus and respect, so going into the game, it should help us to focus on our own performance.

  8. Luke Williams’ insightful comments are commendable. His unwavering focus and steadfast mindset are indicative of robust leadership, centred on the right priorities. While some managers might revel in their current position, one must never count one’s chickens in football. Williams’ approach is truly remarkable.

  9. The direction things are taking suggests that Notts must adhere to the standards set by Luke Williams. It’s a lengthy season with inevitable challenging matches, and there will be teams against which we might have expected better results. However, we will also gain points unexpectedly. The key for Notts is to remain among the leading pack, which at this point would signify a successful season in my view.

  10. Luke Williams is on a different level when it comes to management, and his approach demands respect. Although we haven't won any titles yet, our club is in an excellent position. I believe we can strengthen our position even more and turn this season into something truly extraordinary. However, as others suggest, we must focus on each game individually to achieve our goals.

  11. As usual Luke Williams is very measured in what he says endeavouring to keep expectations in check and he is right to do so these are very early days the team needs to stay focussed on the job. Excellent interview.

  12. Barring injuries I don’t see Williams changing much either, hopefully we can come away with maximum points again but if we get a draw I won’t be too disappointed, the trouble is Notts have set a very high bar and we expect them to win every match hopefully we can maintain our momentum.

  13. i know we said similar with forest green rovers, but colchester are a team in poor form and one that we ideally would win. obviously their position does not paint a full picture but it seems they struggle. it would be disappointing if we dont throw ourselves at them and try to secure a clean sheet, alongside a good performance. i dont see luke williams changing much. our form should help going into the game.

  14. If we can play with that threatening intensity where our attacks bombard and seem relentless, Colchester United will find it difficult to prevent us from scoring. I think they will hope that their own midfield can do enough to break things up. As defensively, that is their issue, and they are quite capable of doing well themselves. But the reason they're not doing as well is simply down to them making too many defensive mistakes. It should prove to be an interesting game, one where I would feel comfortable if we can manage to score early on within the first 25 minutes whilst ensuring we are tight and reliable at the back. I don't think we will witness another goal thriller; one or two goals might be enough to secure the win. Ultimately, we may be denied this by a very much improved Colchester United who hold us to a 1-1 draw. Provided they don't score more than us, it's fine. I know people won't want points to be dropped but in the grand scheme of things remaining unbeaten is more important than the winning streak we are on.

  15. Our away form has seen steady improvement since the earlier games. However, Colchester may prove to be a challenging team for Notts to score against. I envision the game ending in a 1-1 draw, not due to a lack of good play or opportunities created by Notts, but because Colchester performed well on their home ground.

  20. As for Luton Town, I’m not remotely concerned. It was intriguing to watch them ascend each season and earn promotion, but that’s where my interest ends.

  24. On this coming Saturday Notts travel to Colchester, how many players, managers or coaches etc., have links with both clubs? Here’s my starter for 10 - Liam Chilvers played for Colchester between 2004 and 2006 and also for us between 2010 and 2012. How many more can we find.

  27. I anticipate Colchester to provide a tough challenge. Luke Williams acknowledges that positions do not guarantee success, but I believe that if we thoroughly prepare and begin the match with determination, it should be an encouraging game for us. While I am unfamiliar with many of their players, my main desire is to witness a strong defensive performance from our team. If Colchester manages to create any scoring opportunities, our players must prioritise protecting Aidan Stone, our goalkeeper.

  29. It was heartening to see such an underdog achieve something truly remarkable. While I don’t actively follow their results and believe they will eventually be relegated, I hope they use this experience to build up their club. Despite being a London club, they are much smaller than one might expect.

  34. From BBC live feed 'The recruitment team have again unearthed an absolute gem' ......'published at 08:02 08:02 Ollie Kay, We Are Luton Town, While the media and fans of the Premier League quibble about how much the promoted sides should be spending, Luton Town fans saw the first full run out of Chiedozie Ogbene, who achieved his first 90 minutes in a the shirt against Wolves, following on from his energetic cameo against Fulham. Chieo, who became a history-maker by becoming the first Africa-born player to represent the Republic of Ireland national team, is the perfect example that sometimes good scouting can trump throwing money around willy-nilly. The Hatters have always had a proclivity of doing astute business in the free agent market, although Ross Barkley has not yet been able to show his best form because of injury. Looking back at some of the previous free transfers Luton have plucked from the football pyramid... Jordan Clark, from Accrington, who scored the goal in the play-off final, Amari'i Bell who has been ever present since joining from Blackburn Rovers. And Tom Lockyer from Charlton Athletic, who has been an absolute warrior at the back for. After his fine performance against Wolves, which included four created chances, 92% pass accuracy as well as tracking back and mucking in defensively, Chieo left the pitch to raucous applause from those at the Kenny. It looks like the recruitment team at Luton Town have again unearthed an absolute gem without a huge initial transfer outlay, to the dismay of all the fans who observe Premier League football from their sofas around the globe.

  35. Neil Warnock’s response to the chant was priceless! He appeared as a cool grandfather, unfazed by the profanity. What a character! Here’s hoping he remains retired this time.

  40. I’m keeping a close eye on them; if they manage to stay afloat, it will be an achievement even more remarkable than their promotion. They’re in the midst of a real struggle, facing extremely challenging circumstances. If I were a Luton Town supporter, my hope would be for investment to develop the club. If they were to be relegated, bouncing back would be a formidable task in its own right. I extend my best wishes to them.

  46. i would like to see luton stay up but i dont think its likely, they will be enjoying it and they do seem to be giving it their all. i just hope they dont overspend but use this season as a means to keep them within a steady position to do a bournemouth in time. rather than a blackpool.

  47. It's great to come across such a pleasant and enjoyable tweet! We wish Neil Warnock all the best as he enters his retirement phase. It's evident that his passion for the game drives him, as it's unlikely that he's motivated by financial gain. This time around, it would be wonderful to witness him finally taking a well-deserved break and relaxing.

  48. Neil Warnock is a truly remarkable manager; he's the Ric Flair of football. His passion for the sport keeps him wanting to be involved. Hopefully, this time he will stay retired. I mean, if he wants to still be involved in fair play but why not a lesser role like a director of football. Which he has been outspoken about in the past, but really it is quite a suitable position. Naturally, retiring and putting his feet up is well deserved. He can always use the time to beat people on the golf course.

  49. As Neil Warnock embarks on his retirement, we wish him all the best. It would be beneficial for a platform like Sky Sports to secure him as a pundit, preventing him from accepting another managerial position. This arrangement would allow him to continue enjoying football while having more leisure time. His rants, undoubtedly more entertaining than a grumpy Roy Keane, would be a welcome addition.

  50. 4 games in, Luton were always going to be facing an uphill battle, but they have many more games to focus on. Just being in the Premier League alone is fantastic achievement for them. I remember when John Hartson played for them, before he joined Arsenal. It's that fighting spirit Luton had, which they need to find for this season. I'm not sure if they will stay up, but I am hoping they can.
