  1. Last week, Notts County secured the services of Lewis Macari on a permanent basis, marking a significant move for the talented player. In an interview that goes beyond the exclusivity tag, Macari candidly shares his thoughts on the challenges he faced initially, the unforgettable debut goal, and the decision to commit to the club permanently. Looking back at his early days with the team, Macari admits to the struggle of adapting to a new playing style. "It was a new way of playing for me, and the gaffer has his own brilliant style. It took me a little while to get used to it, but since then, it's been a lot better, and I'm really happy with how things have gone." The defender, known for his enthusiasm, talks about the nerves and excitement surrounding his league debut, especially scoring a goal on that occasion. Macari describes the feeling as "unbelievable" and expresses a keen desire to recreate similar magic in future games. When discussing the uniqueness of his debut goal, Macari acknowledges the rarity of attempting a first-time shot from outside the box. "I just thought, 'Hit it as hard as I can and as sweet as I can,' and it just rose into the net. I still can't believe it to this day, but hopefully, I can try and do it again." Touching on the intensity of Notts County's playing style, Macari shares that it took some time to adjust to the quick pace and high pressure. However, he emphasises his enjoyment of the style, stating, "We want to blow the opposition away, and that's something I've had to get used to. But I really enjoy it, and I think I've got used to it now." In discussing his decision to make the loan move permanent, Macari reveals his early enthusiasm for the club, even during periods when he wasn't in the squad. "I just can't wait to play," he says. After getting his chance, Macari felt "properly a part of the team" and expressed his commitment to helping the club progress, stating, "I want to be the one to help take it up." As the conversation unfolds, Macari reflects on the learning curve of playing regular league matches. He highlights the importance of adapting to different playing styles and pitches, citing the valuable lessons he has picked up from the coaching staff. In conclusion, Macari expresses his eagerness to continue improving and contributing to Notts County's success. With the permanent deal finalised before Christmas, he emphasises the relief of having the uncertainty behind him and the focus shifting entirely to football. Lewis Macari's journey at Notts County reflects his determination, adaptability, and passion for the game. He looks forward to making significant strides in men's senior football, leaving an indelible mark on the team's journey. 2. Macari is a young, determined player who's truly loving his game. His transfer to a permanent place in the team is no surprise. He’s found a home at Notts, and the club has been accommodating. His mention of the gaffer's distinct style and bouncing back from his initial struggles speaks volumes about his resilience and ability to learn. As they say, where there’s a will, there's a way!

  3. it took some time for him to feature, i like that luke williams wanted to bring him up to speed but now hes ours. we have all the more reason to be playing him, its the way he will improve and be able to contribute more towards notts. i think its a good signing and once he's back available, i hope to see him in the starting lineup. hopefully, he will score a few more goals before the season ends but his debut goal was a screamer!

  4. I appreciate Lewis Macari’s mindset. The fact that he left Stoke City for more playing time says a lot. Once we sort out our defensive issues, I believe he will play a crucial role in advancing the club. He has many years to improve, and his remarks about Luke Williams are telling.

  5. His first goal was fantastic. It’s unfortunate that he had to leave the game against Walsall due to an injury. He seemed quite strong, especially when it came to tackling. He brings a unique element to our defence, and we hope he continues to develop.

  6. Lewis Macari's journey. From his unforgettable debut goal to his adaptability to the team's playing style, it's clear that he's growing in leaps and bounds. His energy and commitment to the club make him a vital part of Notts County’s success. Can't wait to see how he progresses further.

  7. We needed a faster player in defence. Hopefully, with his addition and further development, we will see more from him. Lewis Macari is an exceptional talent, and I’m delighted that he has joined us permanently.

  8. His first goal on debut was brilliant, wasn't it? I can still remember the raw emotion. Macari is certainly one to watch!

  9. I reckon Macari has brought a brilliant dynamic to the team. His debut impacted him significantly, as he's stated in the interview. The lad’s developed and adapted, showing great character. Also, his commitment is unquestionable, having decided to sign a permanent deal with the club. Let's see how brilliantly his journey progresses with Notts.

  10. I’m scared of losing, and so would most people given how well Stockport County are performing. It would be fantastic to achieve something, and I agree it could boost our confidence. I don’t think we need to fret if we lose, but hopefully, we’ll see signs of progress and determination.

  11. I miss the feeling of potential victory, as now it seems like we’re destined to lose, and I have a feeling it will be due to our own mistakes. Stockport County could have a great game against us if we don’t show up or play our best. I would have predicted a draw before our recent form, but now I feel they will win. They have everything in their favour, and we’re still in a slump with no signs of getting better.

  12. If Notts can somehow score first, that would be a good thing. Usually, that alone boosts our players’ confidence. I don’t have high hopes for the game, I think it’s hard to believe we will win. At the same time, I hope they don’t find it easy to break us down because that would be an extra setback that will make it harder to recover from. The team just needs to work hard and try to get through the game as best as they can.

  13. What’s your favourite Christmas Film? I’m a fan of most of the Scrooge films I love the story Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and used to read it every Christmas when I was younger. My favourite Scrooge film is the 1970 Musical version starring Albert Finney, we watch it every Christmas. Lets hear your favourite Christmas Film.

  14. I think what strikes me the most about Macari is his humility combined with a clear passion for the sport. The way he talks about his experiences, the learning curve of playing regular league matches, the initial challenges of a new way of playing, it's all very relatable for anyone who's tackled change and growth. His mental fortitude alone is inspiring, not to mention his evident skill on the field. Even when he wasn't in the squad, he remained positive and eager to contribute. That's a sign of a committed player. I for one am excited for this journey he’s begun with Notts County.

  15. While it took some time for Macari to get his chance on the field, it has certainly been worth the wait. It’s been a delight to see him play. His performance and growth are a testament to his love for the game. Adapting to Notts County’s playing style wasn’t easy, and he faced initial challenges. However, his determination remained unwavering. His expressed desire for continuous improvement is truly inspiring. There’s no doubt that he’s a future star in the making for the club and has set a positive trajectory for his journey with Notts.

  16. My favourite Christmas Film is Love Actually...though when I first saw it, I thought it was a complete mess with too many characters. However, subsequent viewings changed my view from negative to very positive...

  17. Lewis Macari has really settled into the squad, hasn't he? His comments about the intensity of Notts County's playing style are spot on. It's fast-paced and high pressure, but that's what makes it so exciting!

  18. Ideally, we need a positive result. There was a time earlier in the season when I thought we could get something from this game, but we’re currently lacking in many areas. If Stockport play to their potential, it could be quite a spectacle for them. A bit of spirit and fight would be welcome, as would avoiding self-destruction. But the most important thing is to strive for the best possible outcome.

  19. I enjoy the first two original Home Alone films. They’re Christmas classics that I watch every year as a tradition. But my favourite is The Grinch starring Jim Carrey because it captures the Christmas spirit well. It’s much better than the animated one released a few years ago. I would put that in my top 5 worst Christmas films, along with Deck the Halls.

  22. A big salute to all the fans who have attended every away game this season. They truly deserve some joy. We shouldn’t entirely dismiss our chances. All we need is to score a goal and prevent them from doing the same. It might seem unlikely, but we have players who can find the back of the net. If we can bring a positive approach to the game and defend well, anything is possible.

  23. Well for obvious reasons this will be a very difficult game, I am hoping for a good performance even if we lose, a draw would be a bonus and a win….. well…. I might just run round the room naked with my underpants on my head, I’d draw the curtains first though. I hope you manage to get that picture out of your head.

  24. Meindert Dijkstra is a name I would rather forget after his unforgettable own goal in injury time against Derby which cost us promotion. I’m surprised @super_ram hasn’t mentioned this I think Dijkstra is in their hall of fame. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football-derby-indebted-to-dijkstra-own-goal-1371556.html

  26. I think it’s a strange appointment and the sacking seems to be just a move to bring in someone for the sake of it. Steve Cooper has done well with Forest. They can spend as much money as they want on the players they sign, but they are only at a certain level compared to other established Premier League teams. Cooper has done well so far. I don’t see how Nuno Santo is a step up. He’s been lucky in English management to have moved from Wolves to Tottenham because he hasn’t looked anything special and just a very generic manager.

  29. its going to be interesting to see how we do against a team in far better form. a good result could give us no end of confidence but on the other hand, a heavy defeat could cause further complications. i dont expect to win, so i think i would take a draw. hopefully the players are feeling more ambitious as our away games seems unlikely to see where the next win will come.

  30. January can't come soon enough for us with the gaping hole in our midfield and defence, in need of reinforcements and squad depth looking a bit empty Having lost Cedwyn Scott and Geraldo Bajrami, plus our most influential player Matty Palmer to injury, it's clear the squad is in need of signings. We were right to stick by the players that got us promoted, but we should have added more to the squad in the summer. Now the mantra is progression over loyalty Since the start of this month I've been putting together a list of possible choices for the January transfer window. Split them up into tier 1 and tier 2 targets. Tier 1 is realistic and accounting for budget (depending on how ambitious we are being). Tier 2 is less likely options/players. Players I will take but would prefer if we signed the tier 1 players Tier 1 Centre-Backs Tier 2 Centre-Backs Tier 1 Central Midfielders Tier 2 Central Midfielders

  33. Stockport's confidence is sky high at the moment. They have been playing well. That 8-0 win against Sutton could easily have been 10 or 11. Notts have lost their way. There's a game plan but the players don't seem to have any confidence in it. I'd imagine a home win will be the first entry on many betting slips this weekend and you can understand why.

  34. I was on the bus the other day and someone piped up “YOUPIES!” It was a Forest supporter who had spotted my Notts hat. He engaged me in conversation about Notts he seemed quite knowledgeable with regards the team and said we need to bolster the defence. He mentioned two Forest players who are out of favour and not even training with the team after a fall out of some kind. One was Worall and I think the other was McKenna he says they might want to get games and suggested Notts take them on loan, he reckons Forest would be happy and probably pay their wages. I’m not sure they’d want to drop to league two but he reckoned they probably would to stay local and get games. What do you reckon?

  35. Miracle on 34th Street, originally released on June 4, 1947, is my favourite Christmas film. It’s a classic that’s often overlooked, but it’s a very good film

  36. Home Alone II - Lost in New York is my favourite, but I also love Jack Frotst which was shown yesterday on Channel 5. It's something I have been trying to watch with Cheeky, although she was preparing food and missed most of it. I think it's a great film packed full of meaning and some very funny moments. Also, I love Jingle All the Way. PS. You're all my favourite customers!

  37. Christmas songs are always the ones that stick in your head, even if you don’t follow the bands/singers normally. Been a lot of great tracks over the years but my top two that I can’t split would probably be between:- “Snow is falling, all around me, children playing, having fun.” and “Hey, Mr. Churchill comes over here, to say we're doing splendidly” Followed by Noddy and Roy’s two great songs (both released in the same year ironically). But ask me again next year and it will probably change round.

  39. In the days before Christmas and on Christmas Day itself, my family comes to Clifton. I stay at home until about 1:15 to 1:30 in the afternoon. After that, we all gather at my grandparents’ place or at the home of whoever is hosting the Christmas dinner. It’s usually my grandparents, but sometimes other family members do the cooking. After our meal, we typically play board games together until about 7 to 8 in the evening. Then, we go home to enjoy the rest of the night.

  41. While Harry Arter may not be on the same wage scale as some players, his salary would still be significant, and we managed to get him to drop to the National League. I don’t anticipate much coming from this, though. I would guess that the club inquired with Forest about their options before signing Ollie Tipton and Lewis Macari. However, circumstances can change.

  42. I didn't like seeing Luke Williams' response, how he lost his voice or seemed to be defeated in pain. The players need to jump into brick walls for him. Defensively, they need to make us prouder. They can do it if they keep their heads and make the right decisions.

  43. Worrall recently signed a new contract and according to FM earns about £40,000. McKenna is on about £25,000 (I know it’s a game but they usually aren’t far off with these things). Nice idea and I wouldn’t say no but they aren’t going to let them come here for free, nor can I see them dropping 3 divisions! I’d say we’ve got about 0.1% chance of either happening.

  44. the reedtz brothers does seem to have a good relationship with clubs, so maybe they will enquire but i think we might not get any of the players who could easily play for a decent championship team not even on loan for a short time. i could be wrong, but it just seems like forest might prefer to sell or loan them to a club higher up.
