  1. Burton's promotion to the Championship is the stuff of legends. Next season they will be hosting clubs like Aston Villa and or Sunderland and Newcastle. No one expects them to do anything other than be relegated but they will enjoy the journey that's for sure. Those memories will last a long long time. Well done to all concerned.

  2. Had an email through this afternoon with the new Adult prices. Oldies and youngsters get massive discounts (lucky so and so's)

    Early Bird (before 31/05):

    DP Stand: 380.00

    Kop: 310.00

    Family: 310.00

    Full Price:

    DP Stand: 410.00

    Kop: 330.00

    Family 330.00

Under 18s price is 45.00 in all stands early bird, 55.00 otherwise.

Lots of other benefits announced including a local business discount card, but they have decided to remove the free programme offer, which is a mistake in my mind, as I like the programme, but probably won't take advantage of anything else to the same value.

  3. @notts-joe has given me the job of culling some of the PON members......now before you get upset at my new role, allow me to explain.

This site uses up a lot of resources, and 606 users is simply too great a number, especially if you are not bothering to post anything.

Lots of people have signed up, most with pretty boring user-names, just to avail themselves of the free PON t-shirt and 4 cans of Double Diamond offer.

Some people have only made 1 post....just to introduce themselves.....here is an example from the archives:

"My name is Fred. I have been a Notts fan since 1975 but I don't attend matches. I work in Asda and sit in my room on the computer every night".......BORING, the saddo's only post!!

This is the kind of PON user that will be culled,......... just like those deer in Wollaton Park, moping around all day, stealing valuable grass and pooping on the paths.

So.....you have been warned.....start posting NOW, and make it interesting or else.

Next week I will seeing if things have improved

Then I'm moving onto the problem of Lurkers not signing in......you will be traced via your IP address, mark my words, and will be receiving a visit from my good friend "ball-crusher"

Thanks @notts-joe for the chance to prove myself......I won't let you down

  4. This has been a horrible season for Swindon Town but not, it seems, as bad as yours. We too had three managers but at least the third is still in post and we finished on a four match unbeaten run.

I am not surprised at Mark Cooper's decision. Reading between all the lines it seems that he had little control over player recruitment here which was largely the domain of our Chairman who is an ex professional footballer. From what you have said at Notts he would have been out of the frying pan and into the (hell)fire.

I wish you all well for the future and will keep watching PON to check on your progress.

    Best wishes to all.

    Mickeyr

  5. Would you want him? I'm curious how people will call this, what they would say and if anyone here believes he's the right man for us?

    For me - he isn't.

  6. I think the majority of fans felt Leicester City may stumble after Christmas, however they held their own and the nerves stayed. The foxes fought and have achieved a very impressive impress Premier League title claim. It look almost likely that Spurs would see them carry it over until the weekend, as Chelsea's defence looked a shambles in the first half.

Genuinely, Tottenham didn't impress me at all - they created two well taken goals but offered little else.

No doubt Leicester City deserves the title, they played for it and you don't win something like this by chance. It's earned! Did you think Leicester City would win the league near Christmas? What makes them so formidable in your opinion?

Well done Leicester City and ex Magpie Kasper!

  7. To help Mark's suitability, he will need to answer this questionnaire.....

    1) Should Alan Smith's name be in the starting 11

    either (a) Yes (b) no

    2) Should Noble be played as a winger

    either (a) yes (b) no

    3) Should Stanley be in the starting line up

    either (a) No (b) Yes

    4) Is hoof ball acceptable

    either (a) Yes (b) No

    5) Should prospective players be picked from a column in a Devonshire newspaper?

    either (a) yes (b) no

scroll down for suitability for the role:

  8. Bring it on!! It only requires Gladbach to avoid a 10 goal swing on goal differnce with Scheisse 04 on the last day and they will be 4th. Then one knockout phase match and a kind draw!

They did play a friendly in the early 1990's at Filbert St which I went to (2-0 to Borussia I think), before playing Everton in the Centenary of Goodison Park game.

  9. I see Notts have put out a notice warning us not to invade the pitch during our last game. Was anyone seriously thinking about doing this? It's not as if we've got anything to celebrate!

There's nowt wrong with a (good-natured) pitch invasion if you win promotion or for a truly momentous occasion, but these things should be the exception. Running onto the pitch when you've finished 17th in League Two, on the other hand, is just embarrassing. By all means give the players a nice send-off if they put in a good performance, but they don't deserve to be feted like heroes and they know it.

  10. So, finally we have got to the end of this absolute abomination of a season, but the question is "Where do we go from here?"

No manager to look at the out of contract players, so who makes the decision? Guy "doesn't go to Notts games" Branston? I have looked at the players still under contract for next year and the most frightening thing is that we have 18 players under contract! Add Richards to that if he is kept on and that means 19, add a new keeper for 20 and that leaves any new manager very little room to manoeuvre, if we go for say a maximum squad size of 26.

I can only hope that we can move on some of those, if we can't we will be really struggling to stay up next year and for that reason, we must release all of the out of contract players, to at least maximise the quality in the few slots we have left.

The sooner this mess is all sorted, the better.

  11. Has anyone heard anything since RT went public on Twitter? His wife on this very forum said that RT can get carried away at times (from his previous posts on NCM), so was his Twitter comments more evidence of this again?

I wonder how much effort into an investigation our local media have done into this.. The NEP journalist Leigh Curtis, I feel, is just another source of PR for the club. He hasn't used his position to investigate/ask challenging questions (including the accountability of Guy Branston in regards to our transfer disasters this season).

  12. Game 46 - Cumbrians (H)

    Team: Carlisle United

    Date: 07/05/16

    Where: Meadow Lane

What line-up should Mark Cooper opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

I hope the kop will be in full voice today, the past few games we haven't had much to cheer about but I hope today they get behind cooper!

What an utter shambles this is turning out to be! Players and staff are disrespectful to our club and quite frankly they can sack the pathetic lot of them, they are a disgrace.

Just woeful, I can't say much more but I felt Snidjers did well going forward - very unselfish and tried. I doubt many will give him credit, however I believe he deserves it.

No one else looked likely do anything at all.

  13. Forest Green are very intrested in cooper and are monitoring his situation at Notts.

Cooper was also seen at there game against Dover by fans at the game there fans love him.

former player to 4 or so of there players have played under him.

Now I'm no expert but if I was Ray trew I'd offer cooper a contract now.

because forest green have money and back there managers well and they may go up this year.

Id scrap this points rubbish and offer the bloke a 3 year deal if Fullarton was worth a 4year deal cooper is deffo 3-4 year contract.

But knowing us Itl be the same mistake allow him to leave and replace him with a youth coach and sign another 50 players personally.

I'd just give him the job now it's the only thing that will make the fans smile about this season

  14. The great Ricardo moniz has just got himself a new job at FC Eidenhoven

Good luck to him! It wasnt perfect but he did the best he could without his own staff and with these poor players!

  15. Just got back from the unveiling ceremony, the statue is everything I hoped it would be, a superb permanent reminder of when we were actually good!   The likeness to Jack in particular is uncanny.  A nice short ceremony hosted by Colin Slater in glorious sunshine.  Here's a link for anyone who couldn't be there:

  16. Obviously this is the final weekend of the regular season, and somehow I've managed to miss out a round somewhere along the line. So to make sure we fit all 46 rounds in there will be TWO rounds this weekend. The Championship and League 2 finish on Saturday so round 45 will consist of three games from each of those leagues on Saturday, and Sunday will be six fixtures from League One. I'll post both RRounds at the same time so make sure you head on over to the round 46 thread to place your predictions in there too!

    Saturday's Fixtures:
    Charlton Athletic v Burnley
    Hull City v Rotherham United
Middlesbrough v Brighton & Hove Albion
    Accrington Stanley v Stevenage
Bristol Rovers v Dagenham & Redbridge
    Oxford United v Wycombe Wanderers

  17. Secrets of Leicester's success. I believe Wycombe and Portsmouth have been using GPS during matches and wonder why Notts haven't? Perhaps @erindoors can throw some light on the subject?

  18. As the title says the summer months , all that sunshine , barbeques , holidays in the sun , chilling out , hmmm how much do you miss the football ? My missus says I am notably different on a Saturday afternoon in the close season , I'm a bit crazy on matchdays she says the house is alive , how do you feel in the summer , do you miss it ? Does anyone notice a change in you ?

  19. For anyone who may not use Facebook or Twitter there was a post about a tragic loss of a longtime Notts fan and pride of Nottingham posted it to get the word out.

Now I agree we should all give applause on 22min and give this young soul the send off she truly deserves so spread the word as this is something that we can all come togther for and show our respects and appreciation.

So please everyone 22minute Carlisle show you're respects

    Thank you

  20. Poor start to the potential discussion because I am. ;)

I know it seems a far way off, however with Colin Slater stating via the BBCRNS Twitter feed that 'There should be no talk of promotion next season' - I'm wondering what people are thinking right now? Where does the ambition come from? What do you hope for? Is next season going to be bleak and uninspiring?

Obviously, we need one big thing to happen before we will have a solid idea but I just want to see better performances - with the potential that we may be able to push for a League One place.

I'll accept existing, if we can just have a season whereby stability is seen on and off the pitch.

    How about you?

  21. Just been to the first day at TB. Notts bowled out for 261 - is that a good score or not? Both sides at full strength with 13 England players on the field. How about this for a tes team made from both sides:

Hales, Lyth, Ballance, Root, Patel, Bairstow, Read, Broad, Rashid, Plunkett and Gurney?

    Or ODI team:

Hales, Lumb, Root, Patel, Bairstow, Read, Broad, Rashid, Willey, Plunkett and Gurney. I think either team coould beat a rest-of-England XI at either format.

  22. A comfortable 4-0 win and good to meet @ivansneck

Loach 6 another clean sheet, though conceded a free kick 8 yards out for handling a backpass

Wildin 5 first time I have seen him troubled by their attack. Still looks a good prospect

Sharpe 6 good going forward and defended his side very well

Amevor 6 defended well, memorable run but with forgettable shot at the end of it.

Adebowale 5 Physically strong , substituted in 2nd half, hard to gauge effectiveness against a weak central strike force

McMillan 6 memorable run and cut back but still questions over whether he can cut it in a physical game, when it comes to it

Sarpong 5  OK game, but unsure if he has done enough to earn a new contract

Jones 6 great 4th goal, a neat footballer

Lucan 4 went missing at times, was getting into the game well when he was substituted.

Bishop 5 scored and set up Gibson, but lack of mobility and a poor touch, gives no confidence of a future star

Gibson 7 movement, energy, goal scoring, probably indicates Murray will be released. A good prospect

So does that qualify us for the Champion League preliminary rounds :D

  23. I listen a lot to 'Absolute Radio', I've ranted about this before but recently - I've noticed the station creeping in cover songs, despite the station firmly being set on the 80's.

There's one which has been getting too much radio play, seriously it's virtually always on.

When I hear it, it makes me want to stop listening to music full stop. It's by far one of the most annoying and worst covers I have ever heard! I'd like you to share similar covers which you dislike.

Calm down dude, you'll get a sore throat. Here's a tip for you also, don't cover 'soft' songs if you go by the name of 'Disturbed' it's a clue that you'll end up killing any cover which doesn't suite your annoying voice. Also, take up being a monk - learn the importance of 'silence' all together. *Bursts into flames!!

  24. I'd like to give a warm welcome to @NZPie, @Sievers96 and @Roots To The 92.

I hope each of you enjoy being apart of the community here, whilst interacting with what we have to offer. You Pies!
