Pretty self explanatory - though I've added permanent to make it a little trickier and prevent a glut of "Jorge Grant" responses!

I'll be doing some graphics later, as I have various things which are needed for the site - also @magpiejueΒ has asked if I would create her a new signature.

If anyone else would like something designing, even if it's not PON related let me know.

I was just wondering what peoples opinion would be on setting up a PON YouTube channel and uploading to this channel. I have also noticed some outdated podcasts on the "Media" tab. I dont know if they still happen or was wondering why they were stopped. Personally id love to sit down once a week and listen to topics about my club and discuss whatΒ we have done over the week. I also think it could get more fans to interact with the website.Β

Thoughts?

They must be, as Notts voting for the inclusion of 'premier league' teams in the Checkatrade trophy allowed two young German players to get match experience for Everton last night.

Mr Hardy, please remember that next time England lose to Germany...

Β

Continue the boycott!!

I have not got any statistics for this argument but just wanting peoples thoughts behind him. Jonathan Forte has had numerous spells with this club and has showed moments of class and others not so classy. I have heard from a number of Notts fans recently that they think hes passed it and is not even football league standard anymore. Personally i think he has a few attributes that are very helpful but has lost his eye for goal which for a striker is bad news. Whats everyone's opinion on him and do you think he has still got what it takes to score 10+ goals a season?

Thoughts?

  • We're playing Man City's U23 team on the same night. I'm hoping for a sub 1000 attendance in all games to tell the EFL & Greed league where to shove its toxic competition which only exists to get the big clubs academies into the pyramid through the back door. #Bteamboycott

I'd be quite happy for Notts to stick two fingers up to the Football League and their stupid competition. Please don't attend this match - spend theΒ money on a League match or in the club shop instead. We must not allow B teams in to our league system through the back door - that's far more important than the result of this match.

The only important thing about tonight is Notts managing to put together a good performance, wins count for something! It will also help our league form but really, not many people seem bothered about the cup. Yet it's important to respect the fans who do want to attend!

I've read comments about the fair prices, in fact great offers but personally I couldn't back this.

i believe Duffy, Hollis and Brisely could really gel as 3 CB's.

it might be worth using all three and adapting the play to replicate what spurs do. you know use wing backs...

I thought we played very well against Chesterfield.

However, without the inclusion of Jorge Grant - I just never felt like we would score. If he isn't match fit like the rumours would have us believe, then we need to start him (it's the best way to gain match fitnesses). Notts just always looked like it would be a point and a 0-0 draw, yet things clicked when the substitutes came on.

I have to say I didn't like how Chesterfield tried to be physical, and basically ended up elbowing and hitting out.

They reminded me of a school boy team which knew they was going to lose, yet resorted to this to slow the game down and to put players off. They really look like a club which might struggle and to say that we didn't look like scoring before the changes, it slightly concerning from an attacking point of view. I felt we largely defended well, passed nicely but as always we needed to rush or force play when it mattered. Ameobi and Stead isn't working at the moment either, we need pace!

Saturday's Fixtures:
Birmingham City v Bristol City

Derby County v Wolerhampton Wanderers
Blackburn Rovers v Doncaster Rovers

Bristol Rovers v Peterborough United
Barnet v Luton Town
Mansfield Town v Forest Green Rovers

Good Luck!

Collin 4.5 Well protected but one can never feel assured with his keeping. Completely missed one cross which he should have claimed

Tootle 5 Not one of his better games but one should also be reassured that he makes very few mistakes defensively

Duffy 6 Won his headers and led the back line well

Brisley 5.5 Would be a 6 but gave away a needless free kick in injury time. Coped well with the movement of O'Grady, who was perhaps Chesterfield's most impressive player

Jones 4 Wasteful of dead balls, as well as some wayward punts too, Β just crying out for Bola... Β need to dream on. Noticed Jones failed to track back on several occasions

Yates 5 Maybe Scunthorpe game took too much out of him. Not as effective than Tuesday night

Hewitt 4 Cannot pass nor track back nor tackle. Even moved to Right Back when Nolan says he is not a Right back

Alessandra 5 Not involved in the game to influence it but did chase

Hawkridge Β 7.5 Bundle of energy and his ability to close down in final third, won Notts countless balls. Worthy MotM

Stead 4.5 Legs, legs, legs...no real sharpness and maybe Forte should have been introduced earlier

Shola 5.5 Held up ball well but never got service in Chesterfield's Penalty area

Β

Subs

Grant 7.5 Class, class, class... and that free kick!

Forte 5 Good effort, should have been introduced earlier

Walker 4.5 Half mark deducted from poor dead ball

Anyone interested in this to send their kids/young family members?

Based on a mean of 5

Fitzsimmons 7.5 Long awaited, a presumed "Reserve" keeper that is better than our current #1.Β

Dickinson 5 Still a problem position but give him his due, good commitment but was caught out for one of Scunny's goals. However it should be said, a better option than Jones's Saturday showing

Hollis 5.5 Played well in awful conditions

Brisley 5.5 Improvement on Saturday and quick reactions to score

Hunt 5 Did what was said on the can, as the saying goes.

Hawkridge 5.5 Gave away penalty but work rate was faultless

Ryan Yates 6.5 Quality when needed

Grant 6 who needs Noble, when Jorge has got the "goal" instinct

Milson 6 giving some substance to the midfield, so missing from Saturday

Stead 4 Not convincing at all. Shola back on Saturday at Stead's expense?

Forte 5.5 Got involved, but seemed to keep hold of the ball too much to the detriment of the team. Worked the channels well

Β

Ross Fitzsimons has arrived at Notts, hopefully he's good enough to replace Adam Collin (or at least keep him on his toes). I'm pleased we signed someone in this position, as most will know I don't rate Collin - not like I used to do.

Notts County are delighted to announce a partnership with charity Tickets for Troops, offering servicemen and women free tickets to watch the world's oldest Football League club.

The initiative, which aims to support the work of serving military personnel and veterans by offering free tickets to a wide range of events, will be active from the very first home game of the season.

Set up in 2009, Tickets for Troops rewards servicemen and women who spend months away from their families and need to be available to serve at short notice, recognising their commitment, drive and dedication.

This is the first of a wide variety of initiatives set to be introduced by the club to ensure as many people and families as possible are given the opportunity to attend Notts fixtures this season.

What do you think about this initiative?

  • Sounds like a much improved performance, hopefully we can take some of it into the league now and get our first 3 points. On the negative side that's 6 goals conceded in 2 games now, although two of them did come in extra time.

Much more positive on social media, I honestly think it shows we can do better but against Chesterfield the signs need to continue. I think Notts can count themselves unlucky, and whereas I don't agree with the lack of sportsmanship shown - lets face it, most of our fans would want any Notts player to do the same. It doesn't make it right but to overreact and act like we are above it seems wrong.

First half Notts played the best football no doubt.

The players seemed to run out of steam in the second half but played well. How Alan Smith's effort didn't cross the line i will never know but it was a game with a lot of desire and passion. All who played did so heroically, a much better performance.

Scunthorpe United have released a statement publicly thanking the ground staff for ensuring that their League Cup game with Notts County went ahead.

Torrential rain fell from the early evening all the way to the penalty shootout, the conditions forcing the postponement of the Grimsby game not far up the road.

Although conditions were pretty poor, the officials saw no need to call the game off at any time.

The statement, on the official Iron site, read:

The club would like to publicly commend our ground staff for their terrific work in ensuring our Carabao Cup round one clash against Notts County went ahead on Tuesday.

Head Groundsman Graham Colby, Assistant Head Groundsman Oli Makin and the other ground staff Gary Spindley, Reginald Jones, Ross Ritchie and Jordan Stevenson worked tirelessly from early on Tuesday morning to ensure the pitch was in a playable condition for the encounter.
Β
Despite torrential rain throughout the day - and during the match - referee David Webb indicated he was happy with the surface with the game going the distance to penalties after a 3-3 draw.
Β
During the intervals, our ground staff were instantly on the pitch to tend to the pitch for the next period of play, which even included repainting the penalty spot ahead of the shoot-out.
Β
Chief Executive Officer James Rodwell said: β€œIt is testament to our ground staff that we were able to commence and then complete 120 minutes plus penalties against Notts County. As a football club, we were eager to get the fixture played and, due to the efforts of our team, we were able to celebrate reaching the second round of the competition. Our thanks go to them for their continued hard work.”

Do you think they did a good job? Were you happy for the game to continue, or do you think it should have been called off?

So simple but so effective... these lads have left it to the football gods.

Whichever team scores first on Soccer Saturday (3pm kickoffs), that's where you go.

For these guys, sadly, the football gods were not smililng upon them (much like they haven't smiled upon us for the League Cup first round draw...)

So Jake Bugg, who has sponsored Notts County for November, releases an album next month and goes on tour in the UK in - November.

Pity he won't be making a visit in his home city though eh?

  • We had the right idea when we tried to go level, yet bringing on Jorge Grant was left to late for me.

When we throw everyone up, there should be at least two in the middle of defence - maybe a third pressed slightly up (who can make that run into either channels). I just can't believe that when certain players was called upon to back up their team mates they didn't. Dan Jones didn't defend very well, however the same applies to Richard Duffy. He was just watching the goals go on. Put your bodies on the lines lads!

With IFollow using Windows and Chrome - the quality was pretty good to be fair. There were about 5 minutes where it was a bit jittery but apart from that a very decent stream. Not sure why the sound was just noise from the ground and not commentary (should be able to choose home or away commentators). When I loaded Stall and the new guy they were behind at first by 2 seconds, then in front by a second, which was annoying.

I only paid a 5er to watch on the day as Β£130 quid seemed a lot to shell out on an unknown service. I'm going to the next couple of league games and won't watch the JPT anyway, so I think I will pay another 5er to assess a game and then pay the fullΒ Β£130 if it's decent.

Jones was abysmal though - it wasn't just the one incident where he practically let them score, he did it on numerous occasions. If I were KN I'd honestly be trying to get rid of Dicko and bring in another LB perhaps on loan.Β

Thanks for this. I wasn't aware that you could pay on a match-by-match basis at all, it only seems to have been communicatedΒ on Friday, weeks after the annual subscriptions went on saleΒ (hmmm). I was also under the impression you could only watch matches on the app, which was the main sticking point with me (and wasn't cleared up when I contacted them directly either). Hopefully there will be something decent to watch on it soon.
