So Iโ€™ve not been going to meadow Lane long this season. Since Alan Hardy took overย ย Iโ€™ve heard that the food quality has improved but the beer price has gone up. Whatโ€™s everyoneโ€™s opinion on food quality,ย price, availability. But what about the alcohol the price and what choice they serve. Everyoneโ€™s thoughts

The only gripe I really have about the 2017-18 season is the fact we relied upon hoofing the ball, it worked sometimes but other occasions it just hindered things. Overall I do honestly feel it impacted our ability to create chances and, it could very well be a contributing factor to the loss of form at the start of 2018.

Yet if you delve into the signings, they all seem to prefer to 'pass' the ball.

Could it be that Notts are now looking to build a squad which can play attractive football on the ground?

The most enjoyable games last season for me involved keeping the ball down and moving it quickly, some of which is the best football I have seen for ages (yes Richardo Moniz attempted it but the cracks in the Notts defence under him was a nightmare). I hope we do focus on playing fluid football, which is quick and creative.

We will have the players upfront who will benefit from such play, so fingers crossed!

Without bringing the politics into it, made me laugh!!! ????????????

Shame more interviewers canโ€™t take this line. Might get more answers from politicians from both sides of the aisle.

Both on one year deals according to the red rag.

So far no Duffy...(heresย hoping he says no!!!)

It's been a while since the last update so here it is. After heartbreakingly missing out on promotion to the third division on penalties, Waldhof Mannheim made some good additions to the squad and went into this season with the clear aim of making the play-off for the third season running. It hasn't gone to plan, however. The team has often looked bereft of confidence, not helped by the tactical inflexibility of the manager. After seven wins and six defeats and with a big gap opening to second place, manager Gerd Dais was given his marching orders last week - the first time Waldhof have fired their manager mid-season since 2007. Ex-Frankfurt and Besiktas midfielder Michael Fink has taken the reins until a permanent manager can be found.

The rot seemed to be continuing in the Baden Cup against Astoria Walldorf, with Mannheim going in 2-0 down at the break, only for the team to turn it around in thrilling fashion and win 3-2. This set the stage nicely for yesterday's visit of Kickers Offenbach, themselves sitting pretty on top of the table. This is a local derby and a match with a lot of needle. During last season's fixture three OFC players got involved in a punch-up with a solitary (and elderly) Waldhof fan in the stand. One of them was the visitors' goalkeeper Daniel Endres, who played yesterday. The crowd let him off far too lightly IMO. The match was played to a slightly disappointing crowd of 8000 in poor conditions. The lack of coffee on sale didn'tย help.

Goals are at 2.24 and 6.11, and there's a questionable offside decision at 5.44, enjoy! Pulling the strings in midfield was Daniel Di Gregorio, who returned after nearly 18 months out in the summer but who the previous manager sadly never trusted with a place in the starting line-up.

27 years ago, Notts County completed their remarkable journey from the Third Division to the top flight as they secured their second playoff promotion in a row.

A year after going up from Third to Second, beating Tranmere Rovers in that final, the Magpies once again came up trumps at Wembley as they ran out 3-1 winners over Brighton.

Tommy Johnson scored a brace, while Dave Regis got the other goal, and so did the Notts contingent celebrate once again.

What memories do you have of the day? Share your thoughts!

So, I'm trying to unwind after a pretty busy day and I stumbled across a video on YouTube which caught my eye - solely based on the title 'The TRUTH Why Modern Music Is Awful'.

I found it very interesting, I constantly moan about how awful the music is today to @Joe Jones, @Magic magpie, @super_ram and @cheeky~k8.

It's absolutely awful the majority of songs, autotuning is too common and lyrics aren't at all poetic.

Out of the home games last seasonย in all ย competition which Game did notts perform the best.

Iโ€™ve been thinking about it for years but due to financial and work restrictions I have not been able to .. but I think next season I might now Iโ€™ve managed to sort the two out and County have really encouraged me to go for it.ย

Is close to signing for Mansfailed apparently.

Iโ€™d have had him back at the lane definitely. @TheSkipper Will be gutted.

I'll admit to seeing this on the other forum, but it is worth watching to see what we are getting for our money. Let's hope he has a great season.

Not WC as such as it was a friendly, but good to see two Ex Notts lads getting on the scoresheet with Burke and Judge doing the honours.

ย Burke was a real enigma for me. Never played a full game looking good. Always looked off his game then suddenly flashed brilliance for 2 minutes then went back to misplaced passes. Wonder how heโ€™d do with our current management setup and being a few years older.

And Judge, class. Always was and always will be. So good to see him fit again.

Goodbye my friends (for linguistically challenged readers). Tomorrow I am off to La Belle France for two weeks. We catch the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St. Malo in Brittany and the drive 3-4 hours to Southern Brittany where we are hiring a mobile home, within walking distance of a lovely sandy beach. I will be drinking wine, eating cheese, swimming, snorkelling, bike riding, walking, sight seeing and generally enjoying myself, I love France (I hate Brexit).

I hope by the time I get back we have some stellarย signings in the bag, I will try to get on the forum if I can get a signal.

ย

Who will get the golden boot in the World Cup.? And how many goals.?

Before you jump in with a reply after only reading the topics title, please do hear me out.

Every season there's far too many incoming and outgoings its hard to keep up with, yet I find it daunting to remember all the players names. I spoke to my son earlier and I told him about how I am looking forward to seeing all the new signings so far, he asked which I felt would be the best so far and I said Dennis Kristian.ย

Kane Hammings is easy enough to remember but god help me when others join.

Think you probably all know about it by now

Looking at the responses from Chester fans, we've got ourselves a good young player

Rumour has it that Terry Hawkridge is unsettled in Nottingham and at Notts County. He would like to bring up his child and family in Lincoln and Lincoln seem interested in having him back, especially after the departure of Alex Woodyard. Would we miss him and are we looking to replace him? Thoughts?ย

I know this isnโ€™t going to be popular in some quarters butโ€ฆ

Mo Salah is a tremendously gifted footballer, a talismanic figure for his club this season. He, more than anyone, was representing hopes of the fans that had travelled, and yetโ€ฆ

ย

He suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder, and maybe some ligament damage in the shoulder. For goodness sake, this was a final, the biggest game he has played in, maybe ever will play in. If itโ€™s a mid-season league game, you come off, if youโ€™re a bog-standard right-back, you come off.

ย

If youโ€™re player who has scored a third of his clubโ€™s goals this season โ€“ you donโ€™t come off. If youโ€™re the only player on your team with the wit, vision and ability to cause the opposition any worries, you donโ€™t come off with a suspected dislocated shoulder. You play on. It was a Final.

ย

Iโ€™ve seen amateur goalkeepers play with broken hands, amateur RL players keep going after 3 shoulder dislocations in the same game. Iโ€™m sorry, but to go off as Salah did shows immense mental weakness. I donโ€™t doubt it hurt, but heโ€™s an Association Footballer. It wasnโ€™t a leg injury (ACL, Achilles etc.) preventing him from running. I was there when Terry Darracott played on at Old Trafford with a broken leg, Stuart Pearce has done the same, but I didnโ€™t see it live.

ย

Letโ€™s think of similar circumstances โ€“ talismanic players in a final or an international.

ย

Bernd Trautmann โ€“ broken neck in FA CUP final โ€“ played on.

Franz Beckenbauer โ€“ broken arm in World Cup Semi-Final โ€“ played on.

Vincent Kompany - broken nose, a cracked eye socket- played on for his country.

Sam Burgess โ€“ broken cheekbone and cracked eye socket in first minute โ€“ played on in Grand Final.

Paul Wood โ€“ ******** torn off in a tackle - played on in Grand Final.

Bobby Baun (Toronto Maple Leafs) โ€“ broken leg โ€“ played on in a Stanley Cup Final.

Colin Cowdrey โ€“ broken arm โ€“ faced West Indian fast bowlers at Lordโ€™s.

Alan Prescott โ€“ broken arm โ€“ played on against Australia in test match.

ย

We remember these players and their feats of courage.

ย

I hope Salah recovers rapidly, heโ€™s a lovely player to watch, but he will not fulfil his potential without the mental strength to match his talent. LFC fans, ask yourselves thisโ€ฆ

Would Tommy Smith have gone off with a suspected dislocated shoulder in a final? Would Souness? Would Billy Liddell? Would Klopp himself?

Whenever we are away, which is pretty frequently in our camper van, we find the nearest Wetherspoons pub, Iโ€™ve got to say the value of their food and range and value of beer is second to non Iโ€™m my opinion.

This week weโ€™ve been in Southport which isnโ€™t south at all itโ€™s oop north between Blackpool and Liverpool, as usual we went to the nearest Wetherspoons for a meal, we both were feeling righteously health concious so I had a chicken, maple cured baconย and avocado salad, while Mrs. Big Tone had a quinoa salad, both were excellent, I had a pint of Wobbly Bob 6% (before you ask @super_ramย ) and Mrs Big Tone had a ginger beer, the bill for food and drinks was just over ยฃ13. Amazing value for what we got.

Next day we werenโ€™t feeling so health concious so went to the same pub andย had fish and chips for two, again it was excellent, with the same drinks it was just under ยฃ20, brilliant.

So next time you are out and about and fancy a good pint of real ale and decent pub grub, check out the local Wetherspoons, tell them Fan of Big Toneย sent you, I guarantee you wonโ€™t be disappointed.ย

In contrast today we went to a cafe, we had 2 cappuccino coffees and 2 tuna melt sandwiches, the coffee was in a small paper cup, the tuna melt toasted sandwiches came on a paper plate and was dripping with fat (it looked like it had been deep fried) and there was a limp looking lettuce leaf, it tasted horrible andย cost us ยฃ14.

Apparently signing on a free transfer from Wigan. Ripped us apart in March against Chesterfield.

Good option to have on the left of midfield and defence.ย
