  1. have you forgotten all of the turmoil last season at the club? where do you stand on the situation now?

i am seeing a lot of fans arguing on social media about not getting behind the club, where you also see certain fans claim that everything is perfect now we have proven manager, plus a budget. does anyone know actually know for sure if we do have a good budget? then you have people who for mostly the right reasons disagree to move on the matter. i want positivity but last season to much happened for me. i think we have to make the most of the club, with it not looking likely to be sold and i wonder if it ever would have been. yet the disappointment needs resolving, i have decided to try and be a bit more optimistic but i have not forgotten.

  2. Scott Bennett has signed for Newport county! It was reported he had his contract terminated today but it has just been announced he has signed for Newport http://mobile.newport-county.co.uk/news/article/scot-bennett-signs-for-the-exiles-3133017.aspx

What do you think of Bennett leaving ? Would you have given him another chance ?

  3. What are your hopes so far for this upcoming season? Are your feelings and thoughts likely to change at all with regards to future additions coming into the Notts squad? Where should John Sheridan be aiming for realistically?

I just hope we have a good season and are able to put aside the failing of the past three years, it would be nice if we could remain as a group but appreciate those who don't exactly sing of the same hymn sheet because we all see things differently - but yeah, I just want to see us give every game 100% no matter what the outcome.

Signings aren't likely to change this, as I think realistically require more than just players but there's no reason why we can't be at the top end of League Two this year.

John Sheridan should be aiming for the play-offs, I'm unsure if we could build a squad capable of running a way with the league without him getting to grips with things which naturally take time. Obviously I expect him to speak of promotion but I hope he just focuses on building a solid team that can give every team in this division a game.

    What about you?

    @Modern Notts Fan 🔥 @Fozzy @Piethagoram @magpiejue @ivansneck (how does Blackville feel?) @Dripsey3 @gtownjohnno

  4. This isn't a game that I believe the Three Lions will stumble on, I think our worries should be found in the final group game - Slovakia are a side that people write off and during my driving lesson yesterday, myself and @Drivingmenotts were taken a little back by seeing Russia 2-0 down (obviously I was pretty waving to them).

It's important England actually attack with venom and avoid wasting chances.

We'll also see if Bale can shine against a better side, as I think he may struggle to make the impact that the Welsh believe he can always bring to their national side.

I think I predicted 2-1, what about you?

  5. The big kick-off is on Friday, so it's time to get your predictions in! Every one of you is welcome to take part - especially those who joined too late for the league game :)

To recap, the exact right score is worth 3 points and the right result is one point. You can also name one JOKER per round - any points you win on this game are then doubled. See the pinned post here for the rest of the rules. Here are the first matches:

    France - Romania

    Wales - Slovakia

    Turkey - Croatia

    Poland - Northern Ireland

    Belgium - Italy

    Portugal - Iceland

  6. BbcRNS are reporting that goalkeeper Adam Collin (formerly of Rotherham) has agreed terms with Notts and is expected to have a medical today (13th June)

The 31 year old played over 70 games for Rotherham and over 130 games for Carlisle. He also won the play-offs with Rotherham!

  7. I am sick of the basic ones we sing. ( one ( player name ) and we are the black and white army ) so heres a few i have ( CAUTION: Rude language so please click.off if you do not.like )

In the tune of just can't get enough:

I looked my father in the eyes and said

Listen here my father, i'm county till im dead

Ill wear the shirt and ill wear it with pride because im notts county till i f**king die!

Tune to wherever you may be

BURKE BURKE wherever you may be

They drink guiness in your home country

    Could be worse

    Could be a STAG

  8. Despite all the reports, I'm pleased to see our fans in spirit in the stadium.

I'm feel quite positive myself, an early goal would bring confidence for England - I'm surprised that Vardy hasn't started but considering pundits opinions regarding fatigue and space opening up, it does make sense to have him on the bench.

How is everyone else feeling? Add your thoughts.

  9. After a drab season Notts wise, I need some football to look forward to. A few songs to get you in the mood for England in the Euros.

  10. Our Chief Exec has released another statement. As well as confirming that the transfer embargo has been lifted, he also tells us that we've withdrawn from the development league and will instead arrange regular friendlies, and that season ticket sales are currently just shy of 2000.

  11. BBC radio Nottingham sport (that's a mouth full) have reported that we are in negotiations to sign 29 year old Left back/Centre back Carl Dickinson from Port vale!

He was formerly captain at Vale and made over 120 appearances for them in league 1, he has played for both Stoke and Watford in the past but has spent the last 3 years as a regular for port vale!

Looks like a very solid defender to me! And I think its important we have leaders in the team, I know Charlie/ian? Mcparland said he had at least 6 captains in the team we went up with!

  12. 5 German Championships, 3 German Cup wins, 2 UEFA cup wins - but now comes the best award so far for Borussia!

Gladbach have been awarded third place in the rankings of Veggie-friendly stadia in the 1. and 2. Bundesliga, as published for the 11th time by the animal rights organization PETA. Borussia got 35 points, only behind Bayern München and 1860 München (same stadium).  Quote - "Thanks to a new sponsor the offer of vegan and vegetarian dishes in the Borussia Park has been upgraded. Responsible for the increase in comparison to the previous year include edam and broccoli quinoa salads and delicious falafel wraps", according to the assessors.

Probably won't stop @Blackville eating Currywurst mit Pommes though.

  13. Obviously pretty much all of us will be supporting England at Euro 2016, possibly with a couple of Irish exceptions. Will any of you be following anyone else in the tournament and why?

I'll be crossing my fingers that Turkey have a good run for the missus, although I'd rather they didn't win it as Erdogan would milk it for all it's worth. I'd like Sweden to do well to keep my work colleagues in a good mood. I have a conflicted relationship with Germany - in a way it's nice when they go far because there's a great atmopshere around the place, but on the other hand they do tend to get arrogant very quickly so it'd be really funny if they fell flat on their faces. Preferably against England.

  14. Liam Noble has joined Forest green rovers and mark Cooper, no wonder Cooper left a list of players for us to release!

Good luck to him, a very talented player when he wanted to be but a right t**t at times!

  15. Sturridge and Wilshire over Danny Drinkwater is embarrassing to english football, here we have a guy who has just won the premier league playing more games than the two above players combined.. Not too mention the above two players failed to win anything. I can't help but feel sorry for players like Drinkwater, Noble (not our noble 😐), Cresswell, Shawcross, I'll throw Defoe in too seen as Sturridge got a place in the squad. All of these players have had excellent seasons at their clubs whereas Wilshire and Sturridge play for 'bigger' teams automatically just get jumped to the front of the que, pick players on form/games played Roy not reputation!

As for the rest of the squad, it excites me Vardy, Kane, Alli, Rashford good attacking players Eric Dier as an enforcer type of player, questions over the lack of wingers, slightly concerned at the back hey, its like watching Notts.

What's everyone's thoughts on the squad?

I will be fully backing them, even though we'll slip up early on haha!

    Here's the squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), Fraser Forster (Southampton), Tom Heaton (Burnley).

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool).

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Ross Barkley (Everton), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).

Strikers: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United).

  16. Remember when SCH was on County's Badge; Sven was on the TV (all the time) and Russell King was on his walking stick (just about)? Nearly getting David Beckham and Sol Campbell walking out in a strop? And all those lies and all that money and then County getting promoted despite it all.

So what really happened the season Munto came to town?

Read the inside story : "Political Football".

So weird you just couldn't make it up.

  17. To keep us all entertained over the next few weeks I'm thinking of holding a prediction league for Euro 16 here.

There are prediction sites out there, but IMO it'd be a shame to take it away from PON. So instead I'm going to steal @weymouthPIE's format and give it a couple of tweaks.

For the group stage I'll select six matches from each round of fixtures in the group stage and post them a couple of days before they start - so the first round of group games (10-14 June) will be posted on 8 June, the second lot (15-18 June) will be posted on 13 June, etc. For every knockout round, all ties will be posted a couple of days before they kick off. At the end of each round I'll post the current standings. Banter / claims that it's a fix are welcome.

Obviously it'd be better if you posted your predictions before the matches start. If you're late, I'll only include the matches that haven't kicked off at the time of posting.

The scoring system will be the same: three points for the right score, one for the right result and in each round up to the final you can nominate one JOKER, which is counted double. As games are often tight in the knock-out stages and to keep things simple, a penalty shoot-out win will be treated as an extra goal for the winning team. So if England draw 1-1 and lose on penalties, it's treated as a 1-2 defeat. To add some extra spice, the final is counted triple.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd like to hear them! The prize will be honour, pride and a hairy chip I found down the back of the sofa yesterday. It's just a bit of fun, so get involved!

  18. Any announced yet for Notts?

We've only announced one so far, Home to Sunderland 23rd July

  19. A good bit of business (again) by Max Eberl for Gladbach. Arsenal have bough Granit Xhaka for €45 million form Gladbach - or according to the idiots in the British media for an undisclosed sum, can't they even read the English version of Borussia's website?)

Gladbach have now spent €15 million of that on Christoph Kramer from the aspirin-makers. So a world cup winner who's already spent 2 years at Borussia on loan and €30 million for a great player (and great servant to Gladbach for 4 years) who doesn't play enough games per season due to suspension.

  20. Well, Drissa Traore signed for Mark Cooper's Forest Green Rovers today.

No bitter comments from me mind. Good luck to them both!

  21. With so much strong feelings both for and against purchasing at the moment , I was wondering how hard is it hitting the club , and how many have stood firm in not getting one yet , what are the thoughts of the community.

  22. Well he's got to be up for a challenge to have taken the job with the current players, nothing really said from his press conference that we wouldn't usually expect other than we'll be aiming for promotion, however he has stated he will not be replacing Guy Branston but will bring in a chief scout - woah hang on things are actually looking up a proper experienced manager with a proper backroom staff, is this Notts County? 🤔

He will be adding players to squad - we all know we need that, this squad needs major surgery, John Sheridan knows how to build teams for this league so I trust him in performing the surgery.

John Sheridan's black and white army..

Hopefully the Trews will get us out of the embargo, pay the money we owe if they are sticking around and hopefully the decision to appoint and "back" Sheridan pays off and this time next year the mood will be party time..

Onwards and upwards, can't be as bad as last year, can it?
