Scott Arfield

Featured Replies

Scott Arfield? At what point did he play for Rangers? If he had a few seasons in the Scottish top flight, he could be interesting.

I think he means that the investment from Notts’ sponsors for promotional purposes will potentially be reinvested by the club in any transfer deal. The sponsors aren’t paying anyone’s wages. Didn’t they stop this sort of thing? You would have thought someone who works for The Athletic would phrase things correctly. For that reason, I don’t buy it. The Athletic writes good stories.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

@JIMBO Recently left, went there about 2018 after leaving Burnley. Over 300 appearances for Burnley and Rangers combined.

FIFA 10 & Football Manager 2010, always made him my first signing from Huddersfield alongside Jordan Rhodes.

He's 34, we don't need more experience in midfield.

We can't open the doors to the retirement home again; we have seen how it causes issues and for me, it would be a step back. Yes, age is a number and a good player tends to maintain their ability quite well, but 34 is near to the age when legs do go. I would rather us continue to find young, upcoming players and convince them that we are a long term project, than a short term one for someone who might not leave us in a better position.

A field where dreams become reality.

I would say no, we need up-and-coming players that can grow with the club and have a future. Not more older legs that only offer experience. David McGoldrick should be the last player to sign over 32. He is a legend but we need to look forward, not backward.

It’s another no from me, we need to keep spaces available for those who can change games and do work that we might not have already. We don’t need another veteran who will only slow us down and take up wages. We need pace and energy in our team, not nostalgia and sentimentality.

I’m shaking my head and saying do we really need him? If David McGoldrick is to play in midfield and Jim O’Brien signs, we already have fairly aged options there. We need hunger and pace in midfield, likewise within the defence. Do you think he will add anything that we don’t have already?

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."

I’m inclined to agree and say he’s a little too old but I know nothing of him and if our recruitment team think he’s worth taking then I’ll back their judgement but as of yet it’s just a rumour. :huh2:

I have nothing against him and think he’s a good player, but we have to consider younger options. If he signed, we would have to wish him well and support him. However, I hope that’s not the case.

Personally, I would be inclined to say no thank you. However, if someone at the club wants him and Luke Williams agrees, we have to accept it. I hope it’s just a rumour.

I think Arfield will sign for Hearts or Aberdeen. I heard Wrexham were interested but they are linked with every free agent in the UK so not sure how true that is.

It depends on his role and what he would bring. High wages would most certainly be a no for me. If he were willing to accept a lower than normal amount and be happy with limited game time, I might be more open to changing my view. However, I do hope our focus remains on younger players.

I don’t know much about Scott Arfield. I think his age is a negative mostly due to the fact that we need hungrier and more long-term options. I hope this is a false rumour too.

Considering the players Notts has signed, I think this falls under science fiction and is a cry for attention.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.
