Brexit 50p

I like coins. I don't have a huge collection but I collect special ones. Has anyone come across the Brexit 50p? I have people in the UK keeping an eye for one for me but no luck so far. A friend went to London this weekend, but hasn't come across any. I could buy one on ebay, but I think I'll wait for one to turn up.

i did not know about it to be honest, i think its quite bemusing that they would make one just for brexit.

its a bit of a weird design just being text.

Bizarre message on the coin, its like saying "I have loved all of my wifes." after divorcing your fourth or fifth partner.

A coin that both sides of the argument can collect and cherish, I haven't seen one yet!

I think it should have add the former UKIP leader on, Nigel Farage.

@Dripsey3 Never seen one yet, but myself and Cheeky look out for coins.

Not to sell, but occasionally we collect them.

If I come across one, I'll be sure to let you know. As a few people I know are seeking the full Beatrix Potter collection.

I searched the price, its silly money for a 50p coin.

I haven't seen any of them in circulation, I will keep an eye out but doubt I will see one.

Thanks for looking out for one for me. I suspect the shopkeepers are selling them on ebay and that's why they aren't showing up in general circulation!

Quite possible but, won't this land them in trouble if they do?

I haven't seen any, it might be worth asking a bank to change a certain amount of money into 50p coins and then rummaging through the bags.

i dont get why people would put them up on ebay for so much money, it seems madness. i know people collect coins but surely there is a value in them first.

Yeah that happens a lot, there's a person near my parents who owns a small shop that does this on the counter as you wait to be served. ????

I thought it was illegal to do that.

I know on YouTube coin collectors buy bulk bags and go through them, it's one way to find one.

These days people make money in the weirdest ways, you'd be surprised how much some would pay or ask for.

I work in a supermarket, so I can keep an eye out also.

I haven't seen one of these coins but I do notice plenty of other ones such as WWII etc.

Whatever your views on Brexit, I can understand wanting to hold on to a coin like that for curiosity value. Or to make an easy profit on Ebay! :D

In terms of aesthetics, the newish pound coin is gorgeous. But it's also easy to confuse with a euro coin, which can be a bit of a pain if you walk around with both in your wallet!

There's nothing at all to the design though, it's just a pointless message.

People will try and sell anything on which they think they can get a bit more £££ from. I didn't know about the coin either, so not seen it myself.

I appreciate this. I reckon a supermarket is the best bet.

Purely for the sake of having it. It's historic in its own way. If I get one, it won't be going on Ebay!

No chance over here, but if you collect coins and require someone to keep a look here in the States I am more than happy to do it.

Some of the coins here are really something!

I have 4 presidential dollar coins. My pride and joy is a first day of issue Abraham Lincoln. He's my favourite president.

I also have the full collection of state quarters. I have them in a presentation case.

We get all sorts of coins coming through, so the chances are higher that one might be found.

No, I haven't seen one in personal and until I read this I didn't know they existed.
