FA Trophy - The Millers (H)

Team: Aveley FC

Date: 29/02/2020

Where: Meadow Lane

What line-up should Neal Ardley opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

I expect Neal Ardley to field a strong lineup with only a few changes from the last game.

O'Brien might start ahead of Rose.

The focus does need to be kept on the league though, I will be there in the Pavis on Saturday.

i wish them well, i know some fans will be like why? but i think they have done well to get to this stage and for their club it means a lot more than it does to us.

most notts fans have not taken the game seriously, some still dont.

i think because they will want it more, it might make the game a bit tough and the type of match which we struggle in. i think meadow lane will be perfect to play on, so i hope its a good game. im looking forward to it.

It will either be tough, or one of those games where Notts turns on the performance.

I'm wishing them well myself @liampie, the better team on the day will win.

I am looking forward to the game, it will be nice to see what a team a few leagues below brings to Meadow Lane.

I think it will show if the players have the fight needed to do better.

I'm thinking it will be close, possibly a bit scrappy but I just hope the officials take control of the game.

I think the game will end up feeling like a friendly which neither team actually goes for in terms of trying to win, I can see them being defensive. I hope I'm wrong, it would be nice to see them coming to Meadow Lane to attack but I think they'll be content with sitting on the game.

I'll be listening to the coverage online via the PiesPlayer, I think Notts might be the team setup to be defensive. I can see them attacking from the word go, they might not be able to break us down easily but I think a side like them will have done their home work.

I would think the 2 new loanees will start giving Rawlinson a rest. Rose also needs a break and I think Wootton will be on the bench with Wilson and Dennis up front.

with an eye on Tuesday night and the league a priority, I would go :-

Mcdonnell, Bagan, Long, Brindley, Doyle, O’Brien, Crawford, Osbourne, Wilson, Dennis & Roberts.

Great performance, no disrespect aimed at the opposition but a good win looked like likely early on if it’s pushed for it.

Good result, pleased how things went - isn’t it great see how warm both sides have been. It’s not something you see often!

Pleasant game, good performance by Notts. They gave us a lot of space in midfield but credit to them for not giving up.

Any win is a good win, but a big win is extra nice

Enjoyable game, Notts should gave won easily and in glad they did. Thought the away fans were excellent.

Easy game but well done to aveley for trying today. Well done to them for getting so far. Good win for us.

Not a bad performance at all, I thought they would have been a lot more organised but that said they're a credit, as are their fans.

I thought Notts could have scored as many goals as they wanted.

@GrannyPie and myself both enjoyed listening today, makes a change to last season.

I listened to the game too, it sounded like we totally dominated the game. It's very good win, I thought having got so far Aveley would've been more of threat and I certainly didn't think we'd score 5. Genuinely want to get to Wembley now, so I'm looking forward to the draw on Monday!

Also worth noting that Halesowen who are at the same level as Aveley beat Barnet… Imagine the reaction if that had been us yesterday!

Sounds like we did a good, professional job on them. Didn't realise the semi was two-legged but come on, we haven't been to Wembley since 1996!

Posted

Yeah, two legged. I almost fell off my seat when I read about this on the official site.

Credit to the new boys, both teams deserve praise but the cleanliness of Notts shown. Yes, we are a few levels higher, but the eagerness to do well and start brightly shown most.
