Cal Robert's departure came at the right time for us, and him. Even though I felt gutted that he was leaving, Aberdeen was such a huge step-up for him and the fee we obtained no matter how much would have helped Notts. It's great to see him playing so well, plus scoring. I still believe he could play EFL football, but with his injuries and being 27-years-old. I think Notts would want to find someone a bit younger, and less likely to suffer setbacks. We already have a fair few on our books, so it wouldn't be a wise thing in my opinion. Despite this, I would welcome Roberts back in a heartbeat - I just don't believe he fits what we would be seeking now though.2 points

@DangerousSausage: I took some pictures this past Saturday, as we went to Winthorpe to escape a busy Skegness. Yet we planned to visit some of GP's favourite locations, which my eldest daughter finally managed to walk under one of the underpasses in the area. One of the last times she did, she was sat on my mum's knee - whilst Super pushed her into a deep pool of water. We had a storm, where the drains filled, and it left one end with a large body of water. For some reason, Super thought it would be a great idea to push her electric wheelchair through it. Obviously, the electric side had been disengaged but remarkably silly considering it could have caused issues for the battery. I can still hear my mum shouting "Barry" and "stop". Poor Ellie lost one of her trainers as Kate focused on walking through it - so Jake and Ellie didn't get wet. Whilst I just pushed my mum completely through the water, without giving much thought to me getting soaked. I remember it reaching just above my socks, and thankfully mum's battery wasn't damaged. This gave us all a good laugh over the years, despite Super sometimes not showing much of a funny bone. Since GP's passing, we have tried to walk through it, but it's always been flooded. The last time we tried, it was more flooded than the time I have just shared. I could imagine, @Fan of Big Tone laughing his head off at this story. He might even find himself wet from all the laughter.2 points

I have applied fixes to the comment controls for the default, and dark skin. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the lightweight theme. That seems fine to me, but if someone who uses it believes that something should be corrected - please let me know, and I will review. I haven't made any changes to the transparency, but I am keen to see thoughts on that. If it needs to be reduced slightly I will make those changes. The +Supporter's badge will be reduced in size soon, so that it fits better.1 point

Yesterday we went to a great pub after our walk, it was a real old fashioned pub hitch was CAMRA pub of the year with a great selection of real ales (I can hear @super_ram drooling from here). There was no food, no music, no video games just folk enjoying a pint and chatting, perfect. The barman saw the kids on their phones so he brought over a pack of cards and we played rummy while having our drinks. Today we are off to another beauty spot for a nice walk, hopefully it’ll stay dry.1 point

I did have plans to show it prior to the change, but with me being on holiday - I just went ahead and made the switch when I got back after going out. I had been testing it on the dev site, I felt quite happy to use it in a live environment because I knew I would get feedback. Why the change? Previously, only the information was enhanced to the postbit area (the area by the side of our posts). I wanted to bring in elements into the mobile side, as I know how a lot of members use it. By default, you lose out on so much information for the sake of keeping the "clean" and "simple" look, but it lacks. There's no content count number, it just displays a badge of your recent achievement. a badge if you are a team member, your username, the post date and time. On desktops, it looked much better with the enhancements, but I wanted to improve the overlook on all devices. The plan was to work on the previous design, but I thought with elements such as sharing posts, post IDs coming into importance with the curation of the "content you may have missed". The one change allowed me to drop several other plugins and one application, which is a good boost to our performance. I have made a lot of changes to the UI on tablets, since this is what I used dominantly whilst I have been away. The enhancements made to the postbit and surrounding UI have resulted in a remarkable improvement. At least in my opinion, and I don't take making changes lightly. Now I am back, with full access I will be fine-tuning things a little further. In the days since the changes, things have massively moved forward. Sometimes you need that feedback to make something work. I personally like knowing people feel comfortable making suggestions and whilst things aren't for everyone. I don't see this as being a step backwards, more focused on moving forward. A lot of good things have come from the funds raised via the subscriptions, this is just part of that. So, thank you for the support. Now, let's continue to make the Pride of Nottingham the community we know it is.1 point

The Poll has now closed. Thank you to all of you that voted. Eight of the Nine Players on the shortlist were given at least a vote by PON members reflecting the great performance by the Notts team on Saturday. I am delighted to announce that Nick Tsaroulla has been chosen as your Pride of Nottingham Man of the Match for his excellent performance against Harrogate. This win makes it two consecutive PON Man of the Match wins for Nick.1 point

Memory unlocked. I'm walking away from the arcade at Skegness or possibly Winthorpe with my parents and my sister. My sister had been given a big bag of 2p coins, which she had blown on the machines (I may have "helped" her). She won nothing. So the money has gone and we're empty-handed. My dad asks her, "So what's the moral of the story?" Her response? "Need more tuppences!"1 point

Almost the end of day 2, it's been a blast. We haven't yet managed to get to the sea front, today it's been raining on and off, sometimes very heavily. We went for a meal in a arcade/pub called "Empire". They do really nice meals, and I had a pizza. I forget what Super had, but it kept him quiet. He hasn't had a kip today, so it must have been the early start! After walking around, and popping in a few arcades - one if which @super_ram came 1st out of 4 in a Super Mario Kart, against Jake, Ellie and Ava. We strolled back along Roman Bank, and stop for a final drink before calling it a night. It's very windy tonight, but honestly, I do mean Super!1 point

Shaun Brisley is one that comes to mind, I think that's a recent signing for them, but I do have another CB in mind which I seem to be confusing with Brisley in my mind. There was a player who joined another team after leaving us, not long after Brisley played for Notts.1 point

Is Elon Musk hoping the US court system will halt the progress of Threads, or just slow it down? My money’s on Mark Zuckerberg. Despite his flaws, he knows what he’s doing and will make Musk look desperate.1 point

I don’t think suing them will stop Treads. It might make them compete harder and force better changes out of them. Elon Musk isn’t a very well-liked man at the moment.1 point

I know it’s unlikely that Nottinghamshire Live sent a reporter, but I imagined in my head that they had. In the process, they became distracted by a dinosaur-themed crazy golf course. You couldn’t make it up. They are no longer serious about journalism or the news.1 point

You haven’t seen it yet, but you plan to give it a watch. You think the show sounds interesting and it seems like something that would be right up your alley. You love horror as a genre and TV series tend to do much better with the amount of time they have to develop the show, rather than a film with heaps of jump scares and silly nonsensical plots.1 point

“From” is a very good series. Is the UK only just getting the first season? I won’t spoil it, but it’s made by some of the same people as “Lost”. There’s only blood and gore at times; in the first two episodes, it’s more to drum home that it’s a dangerous place. There’s more cutting away and incidents happening off-screen much later on. The first season is very good; the second is okay, but they don’t answer many questions. The third needs to start doing this; otherwise, it could end up like Jericho and be cut shorter than hoped for.1 point

Favourite Football Kit? The Home Ales one Best ground you've been to? Best Ground is probably Old Trafford, most enjoyable visit is probably Hillsborough when in the old first division when a smallish away following so out sang the Wednesday crowd that it was commented on by Radio 5, Scariest is either Chelsea when Rachid Harkouk scored the second, or St Andrews when we scored a late winner - I was in the Home end both times!! One thing worth remembering is that most contracts end on 30 June. So players taking a pay cut would most likely want to stay where they are until then, and clubs giving a payrise will most likely not want to pay the new player in June when they're on holiday. It won't work for everyone, of course, and a player in demand may well need signing sooner to avoid the risk of losing them, but a lack of activity at this stage isn't anything to worry about.1 point

These people who are supposed to know everything don't seem to know when the deals will be finalised. But I think I know the reason, let's just say it's ironic. Personally, I think the longer Ruben takes to make his decision, the more time we have to persuade him to stay. But hey, I'm just a young teenager, what do I know?1 point

Notts County are the oldest professional football club in the world, but they are also one of the smallest in terms of fan base. The Magpies have struggled to compete with bigger and more successful clubs in the region, such as Nottingham Forest and Derby County, and have seen their attendances decline over the years. They have also failed to appeal to younger generations, who may prefer to follow Premier League or European teams instead. In this forum post, we want to discuss how Notts County can attract more young fans and grow their fan base. What can the club do to make themselves more relevant and attractive to the youth? How can they increase their exposure and reach in the media and online? How can they foster a sense of loyalty and identity among their fans? What are some initiatives or campaigns that Notts County can launch to attract more young fans? Share your ideas and suggestions with us and let’s help Notts County grow.1 point

Yes, I think there are a lot of places that spread and share false information. It’s not useful or entertaining. Discussing rumours can be interesting on a site like PON, but as I say, the sources of these tend to be vague. I don’t think many of the remaining players will leave; the biggest concern is Ruben Rodrigues and I hope he would give us at least one more year to see.1 point

Don't know if this means anything or not, but the players who haven't yet re-signed can go if they show a lack of commitment as it seems as if they're holding out for offers. Palmer is the best player we have and signed an extension without knowing which division we'd be in. Same with Chicksen. I can live without those on the fence, replaceable with our recruitment expertise. I can't seriously see a team as high as Portsmouth wanting Nemane. We dominated almost every game last season yet his stats show 9 goal involvements all season? I'm not saying I want him to go, but would think Portsmouth would want a better player.1 point
-
I think we were always going to attract attention given the nature of the football we play and that, compared to Wrexham at least, we have a lower budget and so would be more likely to be open to offers. That said, the recruitment has been spot on so far and I would be surprised if ready made replacements aren't on on the radar (no pun intended) for all the potential leavers. We have TAR for Nemane, Boston and Austin for Rodders, Scott for Langstaff already. I am also sure that we are looking to strengthen other areas anyway. What would be disappointing is if anyone goes to another L2 rival as that shows a lack of ambition in their part... which doesn't strike me as being consistent with the behaviors we've seen on the pitch all season. I also suspect that the search has begun for Luke Williams successor as a good start to next season will put him firmly in the frame for a bigger role once the new seasons sackings start... if he's not already there. Anyway, I think whatever happens we will be fine. Blimey that was long... sorry!!1 point

Hello PON members! I'm curious to know, do you have any friends on this site? Were you friends before joining PON or did you become friends because of it? Do you have mates that go to the matches with you? I have a brother back in the UK who doesn't like football. My parents used to attend games every week when they were alive. It used to be a family thing with aunts and cousins, uncles and nephews meeting up. I only know a few fans that still attend on occasions. It would be interesting to see members share their experiences.1 point

Oh, this just sounds like something that people in science speculated on as a joke to see if anyone would buy into it. It has that conspiracy theory feeling, just like the idea that the Earth is flat, the Moon is occupied by aliens, and the Earth is hollow.1 point

I don't think there can be multiple versions of me living out different lives, such as being a professional athlete or a renowned poet. Maybe even something else, like living with a different family. It just becomes too far from a stretch for me. That said, I understand why it's interesting and why people will debate it. Yet, it's unlikely that proof will ever be had, this discussion reminds me of one of my favourite YouTube channels called "The Why Files". Both videos related to this subject, but the first is the one which explains things about the multiverse.1 point
-
Yeah the theory is that the universe is constantly expanding. So I guess that means if we are living in an constantly expanding universe eventually, if there are other universes out there, we'll eventually expand into them. Doubt we'll ever able to prove it or find out though. Although I'm sure in another universe Scott’s penalty went in, can the scientists find that universe for us?1 point

The metaverse theory and time travel are two fascinating concepts that have captured the imagination of many. The metaverse theory proposes a virtual reality where users can interact with computer-generated environments and other users, while time travel explores moving through different points in time. Both concepts have been popularised in science fiction and have sparked many debates and discussions. It would be interesting to see how these two ideas could intersect and what implications that could have for our understanding of reality.1 point

What I've never been able to get my head round is "where does space end ?" Is there some kind of invisible barrier ? If so what is on the other side of this barrier.Surely space just goes on and on and on.As I say something I can't comprehend..1 point

The definition of the universe is everything that exists, so how can there be different ones? Surely "multiverse" is a contradiction in terms? My head hurts.1 point

Next season, who would be against Netflix doing a rival to 'Welcome to Wrexham' and producing a 'This is Meadow Lane' mini-documentary series? Pride of Nottingham and @ARLukomski should pitch the idea.1 point

Wrexham are receiving a lot of coverage in the US, and people there are being fed a one-sided narrative about a two-horse race. This article is an attempt to rectify that a little bit. It's a good read, and Connel Rawlinson will be delighted to find out he's now our captain As @Chris says, there aren't many clubs out there with a story to tell that is as interesting or as downright bizarre as Notts. I've got mixed feelings about the US coverage of the National League to be honest. I think a lot of people over there who have "discovered" Wrexham would be better off focussing their interest on their local teams.1 point
