Good morning a new week dawns. It’s a grey start but mild. I might go for a little run down the canal towpath today since there wasn’t a park run on Saturday, I need to shed extra pounds I put on during our holiday. We also need to get someone round to measure for a carpet in our loft bedroom, hopefully we can get a new carpet before Christmas when we have our family staying here. What’s happening in your world? Let’s keep the weekly chat alive.1 point

In answer to your Question @Robbie. I would say Yes. What our Comrades in the News fails to do is to tell both sides of the Story. Of the amount of money the Royals bring into the country and the amount of Tax that is paid on such land ownership. Plus the Main Stream Media make up stories to try and move the Blame of the Government and their own short comings by producing News reports such as this. There as been a Monarchy in England Britain and finally the United Kingdom for over 1,000 years so they must be doing something right. In that time there as been Good Monarchs, Bad Monarchs Strong and Weak Monarchs. It seems since the Death of our late Queen that the Anti Monarchists are trying to oust the New King it's happened before in other Reigns and will continue as long as there is a Monarchy. The Main Problem nowadays is the Reigning King unlike his forebears can not throw certain Public Figures and M.P's into the Tower. Maybe the Present Anti Monarchists, would prefer a Leader like oh I Don't Know lets say Vladimir Putin, who don't understand if anybody like that got into Power, they would be the First to be taken down a Dark Alley and have a Bullet put through their head. Plus if it's a Hidden Payments to the Monarchy, then it isn't very well Hidden if everybody knows About It.1 point

Is this an anti Monarchy article? If the Royal Family don't make a profit from providing a service, someone else will. The Royal Family do lots of good work in the service of this Country, & also promote this Country abroad so well too. They also bring in much needed cash from tourism They don't get paid a salary for the work they do, apart from the sovereign grant, which pays expenses such as. Staff salaries Security Travel Maintenance of royal residences The King's personal household This works out at less than £2 per person per year which is very good value for what they do.1 point

Notts County forward Jevani Brown recently reflected on his journey with the club since his arrival, the challenges of securing game time, and his ambitions for the season. The 30-year-old Jamaican has steadily adapted to life at Meadow Lane, and following his first start, he shared his thoughts on his debut and how the team’s style has energised him. Reflecting on his first start, Brown highlighted how seamlessly the team controlled the game, crediting their strong performance for securing the win. “To be fair, I couldn't have asked for a better start,” he said. “We dominated that game… the 3 points is always the main thing that we got there, but it could have been 4, 5, 6.” The forward expressed satisfaction in seeing his team’s control, marking a significant difference from his previous experiences. Brown’s position in attack allowed him to test the opposition’s defence throughout the first half, with players like David McGoldrick, Alassana Jatta, and Nick Tsaroulla joining in on the offensive push. “I was hoping the first half one of them would just fall nicely for me for the edge of the box,” he admitted, showing his eagerness to open his scoring account. However, despite several attempts, he recognised that securing the win was what mattered most. “It was a comfortable game and the 3 points… we got it,” he added confidently. With over 250 league matches under his belt, Brown is no stranger to the game. Yet, his time with Notts County stands out as unique in terms of their possession-based style. "If I'm being honest, I'm not sure if I've played in any games where the team that I've played for has controlled the ball as much as that,” he said, commending the squad’s approach. “We're a football-based team… now I just feel like it's a case of turning those chances into goals.” Despite joining Notts County on loan, Brown had to remain patient as he gradually integrated into the squad. His early minutes were sparse, but he kept focused on the opportunity when it would finally come. “I came here for game time,” Brown acknowledged. “But as you can see where we are in the league, the team's been doing well. So it was just a case of… I’m an experienced player, so I just know I’ve just got to stay patient and make sure when the time comes, I'm ready.” For Brown, his choice to join Notts County was a deliberate one, drawn by both the club’s ambition and the style of play that suited his skillset. “I watched a couple games before I came as well; the style of play and everything just suited me down to a T,” he shared. “So I just thought, yeah, I'd love to be a part of that because I feel like we could go for promotion this year.” His optimism about the club’s potential resonates with fans eager to see the Magpies rise to the next level. The forward reflected on the challenges of the past couple of seasons, particularly with inconsistent playing time affecting his form. After a prolific season with Exeter City, where he netted 14-15 goals, last year saw him score just once at Bristol Rovers. “I felt a lack of game time; I feel like football is a thing of momentum,” he explained. “If I'm being honest, I probably feel a little bit rusty because I've not played as much as I usually do.” However, Brown is hopeful for a consistent run of matches to regain his sharpness, stating, “Hopefully I can get a little run… then be back flying.” Brown’s early impressions of Meadow Lane and the fanbase have also made a positive impact. “It’s been like that since I've been here, home and away,” he said. “The fans that we get every week for a League 2 level… to be getting 10,000 a week is very good. So I'm just really looking forward to how it goes from now on.” As Notts County push forward this season, Brown’s enthusiasm and ambition align with the fans’ aspirations for promotion. With his experience and hunger for success, he’s set to be a vital component in Stuart Maynard’s squad. Fans will be eager to see him bring his experience and flair to Meadow Lane as he builds his form game by game. I wasn’t able to go either, but it’s good to hear who played well and to hear about the youth players that featured. The result doesn’t matter, I know people are pleased with the 3-0 win. The main thing is the chemistry the players pick up ahead of the new season.1 point
-
I didn’t attend the game, but from what I’ve read from those who did, Aidan Stone seems like a promising goalkeeper, very vocal. If he can perform like this against Stoke or Forest, he may become the first-choice goalkeeper.1 point

It took Notts a little time to get going. Defensively, both halves’ teams did well. David McGoldrick looked good, as did some of the youth players. Nuneaton played well; they were up for it. It was good to see how both teams worked together respectively.1 point
-
It will be a joy to be back watching Notts play. The performance and score don’t matter; it’s just the glimpse of seeing Williams’ newly-assembled squad mix in with those that won us promotion last season. I’m sure most of the players are in good spirits and fitness, so it will be nice to see the game in a relaxed environment.1 point

The match should be a good kick-around for both clubs. I won’t be going, but I’ll be keeping an eye on what those who do say about the squad. I’m more interested in the home friendlies, but I’ll be making the others. I just can’t commit to this one, despite my interest in seeing the new players in action.1 point

Well, what can I say that hasn’t already been said? It’s great news. I had to check a few times to make sure I was reading it correctly. Out of all the players offered new deals, the importance of Aaron Nemane is huge. I am pleased we are keeping him for another two years.1 point
-
This is excellent news, and I didn’t think it would happen either. I thought the lure of Portsmouth would take him away from us. Seeing him sign a 2-year deal with Notts is the best news. He’s a very talented wing-back who has excelled with more game time.1 point
-
We mustn’t underestimate the importance of Aaron Nemane agreeing to new terms. He was a great asset last season and improved immensely. It’s a surprise, as I thought he might leave.1 point

Malta weren’t very good at all. In fairness, they made it easier for England. The own goal would have been converted by Harry Kane, but I thought they might have given England more of a test.1 point

I didn’t expect this to happen, but I think he will be fine. Good luck to him in finding a new club. I believe he may sign for Derby or a similar team.1 point

Good blog, not something I would usually read but it’s interesting. It gave me some insight into the different aspects of the club and the challenges they face. It was well written and informative, but not too long or boring.1 point

I don't have much to say, other than I wish them well and that they can find an investor to get behind. They won't get anywhere if they can't put their indifferences aside. That goes for board and the fans.1 point

It’s difficult to see teams struggling, but hopefully the issue can be corrected with careful management or a takeover. It doesn’t sound like a very happy club if six directors have resigned from their positions and fans are being asked to help with wages. I hope for their sake they resolve it.1 point

It's absolutely disheartening to witness the current predicament of the club, which has long been an integral part of our community. The unfortunate financial situation and the quest for a capable new owner have undoubtedly cast a cloud of uncertainty over the future of this beloved institution. In the run-up to the next season, I fervently hope that they are able to secure the necessary resources and identify a dedicated and passionate owner who can effectively steer them through this challenging period. The loyalty and resilience of the fans will certainly provide the bedrock of support that is essential to overcome such trials and guide the club towards past glories. Wishing them all the best!1 point

I know who he is, and I wouldn't fancy tangling with him! But he does seem like a right good laugh though.1 point

Is this because of COVID? Many teams are having a hard time. Could they not just use volunteers to play?1 point

Loss of life during a pandemic is inevitable. It would be easy to slate anyone in charge, however, if you want me to believe Boris Johnson wanted the elderly to die on purpose you're being political.1 point

People are praising Boris Johnson People are criticising Boris Johnson Can people please just try to get through this by doing best by their fellow human-beings. Nothing else will solve the pandemic.1 point

Another tick in the box, no one can complain at the moment, we are winning, not perfect by any means, but winning. The good thing is there is room for improvement, we have the makings of a very good side.1 point

3-1 Notts is my prediction. I fear Macclesfield will win too, so that would take it all out of our hands.1 point
