    1. 1. What kind of signing would excite you the most at Notts County?

      • Premier League academy loanee
        0
      • Premier League veteran
        1
      • Championship / League One player
        5
      • Fellow League Two player
        1
      • Non-league prospect
        1

When it comes to prospective signings being mentioned, or indeed players being officially recruited by Notts County, they tend to be a mixed bag in terms of what league they come from - some from the Premier League, some from the Football League, some from non-league.

What kind of player would you be most happy to see linked with the Magpies?

Please cast your vote and share your thoughts.

  4. Notts County's Meadow Lane stadium has the fourth-best atmosphere in League Two, according to a fan poll by the92.net.

Out of all 92 clubs, Notts came 32nd in the list - Mansfield are only 84th!

  5. From the official Notts site:

The 2017-18 Sky Bet League Two season will see Notts County travel almost 1,000 fewer miles than they did in 2016-17.

With Portsmouth, Plymouth, Doncaster, Blackpool, Hartlepool and Leyton Orient replaced in the fourth tier by Port Vale, Swindon, Coventry, Chesterfield, Lincoln and Forest Green, Notts fans will be spending less time on the road when the new season comes around.

The shortest round trip will be the 32-mile journey to East Midlands rivals Mansfield Town, while Chesterfield (58 miles) and Lincoln (70 miles) are both nearby.

According to the AA's mileage calculator, the longest trip of the season will be to Exeter City, a 422-mile round journey, with Yeovil close behind at 402 miles.

It leaves the total mileage for the next campaign at 5,097 - a reduction of 955 miles from the 6,052 miles travelled last season.

  7. Not sure if I've missed this elsewhere - nest season Colin Slater will be replaced on the airwaves by Charlie Slater, who was previously Mansfield correspondant on Radio Nottingham. What do you all think of this?

Personally I was hoping for the bloke who stood in for Colin recently - was it Andrew James? But Charlie Slater always seemed alright when doing his updates. It'll take a bit of getting used to though.

  8. From the official Notts site:

Reckon you might come to this?

  9. Liam Noble, the talented but temperamental former Notts County midfielder, now at Forest Green Rovers, has been confirmed by FGR boss Mark Cooper as being on the radar of his former club.

He's impressed for the promoted club and appears to have curbed his disciplinary ways - would you give him a second chance or not?

  10. For 2017-18, League Two will have new teams in the form of Lincoln City, Forest Green Rovers, Port Vale, Swindon Town, Coventry City and Chesterfield.

Are you looking forward to any of these in particular or was there an away day from last season that you're eager to go to again?

  11. Time for another German football update from the depths of the Regionalliga Südwest. SV Waldhof returned from the winter break early for their rearranged game with Stuttgarter Kickers. The 3-2 win took them within a point of the leaders and six points clear of third place having played a game more. Next weekend TSV Steinbach are the visitors, who are third. A home win and we can dare to dream of the play-offs and promotion again... (the top two qualify for the play-offs)

On Saturday's match: good entertainment, lots of chances and, in the first half, a Stuttgart team that is better than it's league position would suggest. Waldhof played them to death in the second half and the 3-2 scoreline was very flattering on the visitors. All the goals fell in the second half, which begins after 7 minutes on the video.

  14. According to The Post Notts are set to give former Hartlepool winger Lewis Alessandra a medical. The 28-year-old seems to be quite the experienced winger, with spells with notable clubs such as Plymouth and Rochdale. What do you make of this? Discuss below.

  15. I have to say, since the season ended, I don't think I've been so optimistic going into the next campaign as I am now for a long time (probably 2009).

New owner, great manager - both of whom really seem to care about the club - and a cautious approach to signing players which is sure to reap quality over quantity.

Are you feeling optimistic this pre-season - and if so, how much so compared to other years?

  16. I know this has little to do with Notts County but I came across this short documentary on youtube about the rise and fall of Leyton Orient from the fans perspective. It is a real interesting watch and just goes to show how unsafe a lot of the smaller clubs are with owners that don't care.

  17. Very sad to hear of the passing of Notts former chairman,Derek Pavis. He did so much for your club.My thoughts are with his family ,friends RIP Mr Pavis.

  18. As a lover of dance music and avid festivalgoer, I enjoy delving into the history of the rave/electronic music scene, reading up about it and watching videos on YouTube of people having the time of their lives at Fantasia, or Shelleys, or the Hacienda.

I went to a festival in Leicestershire last week called Glastonbudget, which features some of the world's biggest tribute bands, and on the Friday they had Jilted Generation, the UK's top Prodigy tribute band.

And I'm not kidding, being in there throwing shapes and going bonkers alongside several hundred other proper mad bastards was really something! Though I doubt it captured the truly raw, euphoric feel of a Prodigy gig in the 90s (felt it came pretty close, mind... when Smack My ***** Up came on, I've never seen such an atmosphere).

So if you were part of the late 80s/early-mid-90s rave generation, I'd love to hear your stories!

I thought he gave an excellent interview, his answers seemed genuine and it actually seemed like he prides himself on how well he plays. [emoji122]

  21. Out of all the players who have been offered new deals by Notts County, which one/ones do you think will have the biggest impact on the team next season?

    Let's hear your thoughts!

  22. So Nottingham Forest have offered Jorge Grant a three-year deal to stay put at the City Ground.

Notts County are still hoping they can sign him permanently, but if not, they may try for another loan next season.

And then there are also the other clubs sniffing around (Bristol City, Wigan etc).

How do you see this panning out?
