So County are back in action this Saturday as they face Bury away from home who’s making the trip to gig lane this weekend.?

Good morning it’s a cloudy, damp start here.

I’ve not got much on today so it’s a good day to clean out my tropical fish and give them a partial water change, I might even have a drive to the pet shop and get some more to replenish the stocks.

If it stays dryish I might have a walk with Mrs. Big Tone later just to get some steps into my Fitbit, I’m really pleased with my keep fit and healthy eating campaign which is keeping my weight down, I am hovering around 11st 7lb as opposed to 13st 7lb two years ago.

Have a great day everyone.

Pride of Nottingham's latest PONcast is now available for fans to listen to.

@Chris and @samwatto2008 discuss several key topics, including the first away win over Macclesfield Town.

They also touch upon the EFL Trophy and if we agree with the competition.

In addition we debate Notts' chairman Alan Hardy's use of twitter and the contrast between his work and personal life. Also they share points on the recruitment this summer and much more.

What do you think about the discussion?

Can Enzio Boldewijn be more defensive minded?

Has the recruitment improved at Notts or does it still require further work?

Is Harry Kewell utilising all his tools?

Have your say on this weeks Pride of Nottingham PONcast.

So the on loan winger from Sheffield's starts may have been reduced but I've got to say he’s turned to Notts impact substitute..!

Since the arrival of Harry, Notts have changed the first team players etc. But one player who hasn’t started many games but has become our impact player Nathan Thomas about the 60th minute up he comes on and for me makes an impact.

Whether be winning the ball or setting up a set pieces or being the assist with a goal or chasing dead balls he just gets on with it and doesn what an impact substitute should do.

So the score board has officially been repaired and was used for the first time this season.

Have you missed the score board?

Do you like the new look?

Are you pleased to see it back?A2019903-0A27-48DE-B1B1-AD4068CCBC98.jpeg

thanks to Dan Westwell for the pic

So those of you who play the prediction league, or who follow me on Twitter may have seen that I was in Bristol over the weekend for the Western league Groundhop.

Basically Groundhop UK arrange several such weekends across the UK every season whereby kick off times are staggered to allow those of us who enjoy ticking off new grounds to attend several new grounds over a weekend.

This weekend just gone it was the turn of the Western league, which for the benefit of those who don't follow lower league stuff is steps 5 & 6 of the non league pyramid.

I thought I'd share a few photos from the 7 (yes seven!) games we attended over the weekend. I'll do each match as a separate post on this thread as it only lets you post a certain number pf photos per post.

Hopefully you like them!

The first stop was on Friday night as Brislington hosted Odd Down from Bath.

The ground was a real beauty, full of character and was almost fully covered which is rare for this level.

The game:

Brislington 2-3 Odd Down (Bath)

(Taylor 41' Biggins 72') (Lloyd 6' 78' 84') Western Premier league (05/10/18)

Crowd 262

Game 1 of the weekends Western league groundhop set a pretty high benchmark, as the visitors edged a 5 goal thriller in front of a bumper crowd.

The visitors hit the front early on when George Lloyd rounded the keeper to slot home, but the hosts levelled it up before the break, with Clarke Taylor pouncing on a defensive error to run through and fire into the bottom corner.

It was an end-to-end game despite a couple of lengthy stoppages for injuries, but the entertainment went up a notch when Connor Biggins scored the goal of the night - hitting one into the top corner from some 30 yards.
But not to be outdone, George Lloyd soon restored parity with an equally impressive effort from the edge of the box, although it may have taken a slight deflection with the way it looped over the keeper.
And Lloyd completed his hattrick 6 minutes from time. The hosts only cleared it as far as Lloyd lurking at the back post, and he did well to hook it in with the ball behind him.
The hosts threw the kitchen sink at them for the last 5 minutes and had a couple of half hearted penalty appeals waived away, but the visitors held on for their third league win of the season which moves them up to 11th, a place and a point behind their opponents, having played 3 games less.

3 games 3 wins, from the bottom of the league to lower mid table. Is it time to start getting excited or should we keep our feet on the ground because they were games we should win.

what are your thoughts?

So the season is very much underway we are now at the pint where we have Saturday 3pm kick and night games which do you prefer.?

Good morning PoN it’s a bit cooler this morning with a definite Autumnal nip in the air.

We’ve got a charity van coming this morning to take away our old settee now we’ve got a new one, I’ll be glad to get rid of it as at the moment the room is a bit cluttered as it’s sitting under the window and it’s hard to get to get to the curtains.

I hope @GrannyPie gets the treatment she needs in hospital and she is home soon, @super_ram make sure you get something to eat today you need to keep your strength up for when Granny comes home.

Right I’ll be off for a little run soon if it’s not raining so I hope everyone has a good day.

So it’s guess the magpie time and @Chris has designed a whopper for us .. cheers mate. I’ll reveal the answer on Saturday night good guys and girls. 9E6F79CC-C3A9-44F5-9A79-47BDDFA11777.jpegj

Good morning, it’s a horrible rainy start here, we’ll have a soggy flannel of a cat to dry when she comes in from her nighttime forage. We’ll have to grab her before she jumps on the settee with muddy paws.

Not much happening here today, I was elated that I managed to fix the broken tap in the camper van yesterday so that’s another job ticked off, I’m getting good at this DIY malarkey I fixed the washer the other day now the tap I’m on a roll.

Have a great day everyone stay dry if you can.

Just had to be done

So this afternoon/evening I tuned in to watch Halifax vs Chesterfield on BT Sport since Notts didn't have a game.

Halifax were winless in 8, Chesterfield winless in 12 before the game.

The first half was about as tasteless as shower water and it was a dreadful contest. Not one to please the taste buds.

In the second half, a rather amusing moment happened when a Halifax player put a Chesterfield player in a headlock near the corner flag and the referee gave a free kick to Halifax. Also Spireites should have had a penalty when Tom Denton (the human equivalent to the Shanghai Tower) was basically having his shirt ripped off in the box, only for the referee to look about as interested as a cupboard door.

Chesterfield didn't look like they were winless in 12 though. They were decent second half but Halifax gave them a sucker punch when Matt Kosylo gave the bankers the lead in the 69th minute. He rounded Hull loanee keeper Callum Burton and slotted it calmly into the unguarded Spireites net.

Zavon Hines played well for Chesterfield and he flicked the ball on for Jerome Binnom-Williams to cross in to the 6'7 fridge freezer Tom Denton to head home.

Halifax hit the bar in added time and the game finished 1-1. Chesterfield probably should have won the game.

All I ask is for, is for Notts to never go to this level

So this weekend coming is the international weekend.

Are  you looking forward to the England or any game in particular.?

So this weeks caption this was taken by @Chris at the Crawley game last week. So let’s have your best captions and this week there will be a winner announce on Saturday as @super_pie will be judgeing so good luck to you all happy captioning guys and girls..!!43D91DE1-EE30-497D-B3EA-00ACD37CDCBF.jpegn

Ok here's a question but please be honest in your answers, I won't judge I'm just curious.

Do you bother with recycling? Do you make sure that cardboard, glass etc., gets put in the right bin or do you just dump it in the nearest bin.

I noticed on a recent camping trip that the owners of the campsite had carefully labelled bins with what should be put in each one, a bin for glass, a bin for paper and cardboard and a bin for general waste etc. Sadly lots of people took no notice whatsoever and put everything in one bin.

Is recycling important to you or do you think its a waste of time?

Good morning PoN, it’s a cloudy start and rain is forecast, I hope it doesn’t start too soon as I’m doing a Park Run this morning with my son and grandson, it’ll be interesting how many turn up as the weather starts to turn, there are usually around 400, know many are fair weather runners I wonder?

Later i’ll be relaxing and recovering from the run, that normally takes me until lunchtime this afternoon I’m not sure what Mrs Big Tone has got planned but if nothing is happening I might get in the van and have a look at the hot water tap which broke while we were away.

Tea tonight is a nice juicy sirloin steak with a few oven chips, salad and mushrooms. Lovely.

Please come and tell us how your day is unfolding and don’t forget anyone can start the Daily Chat Thread but you’ll have to be early to beat me. ????

*Note to mods please don’t unfeature this thread, i’ll unfeature it tomorrow when the new one is up.

So myself and @Chris like a pint of cider well today at the away game we found rhubarb cider ... we couldn’t believe and had have to have a pint to mark the day.

Never less  to say it went down nice ...

Has anyone else heard or tasted it at all guys and girls.?

So it’s caption time guys the pic was taken by @Chris at the first win of the season. I’ll reveal the winner on Saturday after the Notts match. Good luck everyone and happy captioning. 41A8959D-735F-4585-9D0C-AD8956E5FC8B.jpeg

Good morning it’s a cloudy windy start to the day, rain is forecast later so we picked the right time to come back from our camping trip.

We’ve got shopping to do this morning so we’ll be popping along to Lidl shortly, this afternoon the central heating man is coming to service our boiler, yesterday the burglar alarm man came that cost over £100, I seem to be forking money out right left and centre at the minute.

Our washer is on the blink, we think a wire from Mrs. Big Tones bra has got caught between the drum and the casing, so unless I can get it out that’ll be another expense for a man to come. Whilst camping with friends we were discussing Motorhome tyres, apparently they should be changed at least every ten years irrespective of the amount of tread, I reckon ours are around 10 years old so that’ll be more expense, at this rate I’ll have to come out of retirement and get a job!

So, what’s on your mind today? Let us know your grumbles, and/or what you are up to.

So at this point normally I would say who’s going to the match this weekend but there’s no match so what will you be doing.?

I might be mistaken but I believe Jamie Turley was only a short term signing arriving at the club until January, if this is the case and I am not wrong. I wonder what fans on PON would do over his future.

As a footballer it's important to allow players to settle.

He seems to have made a difference at the back and provided the club can afford to keep him, I think it only makes sense to give him a two-year-deal. Allow it to give confidence to the squad and take the pressure off him about the unknown circumstances over his future.

Good morning PoN, it’s a cloudy start here and to be honest it looks ominously like rain.

Today is the last day of our camping trip with friends so we will be heading home after a great few days of good company and sunshine.

This afternoon we have a man coming to look at our burglar alarm it’s on the blink at the moment, apart from that it will be a case of unpacking the van and draining all the water system as we won’t be using it again probably until the new year.

Have a fabulous day whatever you are doing.
