So the loan window and the transfer window has slammed shut the only way is free agents now. If you was the manager what position would you want to fill and dose age matter.?ย

i know we are only 6 games into the season but i fear for relegation. the confidence seems low, the managerial merry go round is disappointing and i really feel the focus should have been on the defence.

im worried that the club will suffer for changing the shift and i dont see how the defence can improve especially with fitzsimons in goal.

Right ... we played very very well today and it is so frustrating because one man let the team down today and that is our No.1 Keeper. Fitz isn't fit enough to wear number 48 never mind number 1. He lacks confidence and it shows in his performances. His kicking is lazy and never reaches a player. His delivery is awful and his overall performances are woeful. He's slow to react and just looks like he does not care. MOTM for me was Hawkridge but he was not given enough time so I will give it to Vaughan. Vaughan, Hawkridge, Kellett and Stead all played very well. Hemmings is still lacking that cutting edge but is a real work horse. Dennis went missing and I thought bizarrely the defence did OK today. However stats don't lie and there is obvious problems with the defence. Fitz has got to do better. We are in serious trouble with him in between the sticks.

Come Christmas, I will have been going to Meadow Lane for 48 years, and I have been a regular away traveller for 40 years. I can safely say that never in that time have I witnessed a Notts team so spiritless and devoid of confidence as they were yesterday. To use a well-worn cliche, the ball is like a hot rock. Nobody wants it or really knows what to do with it when they get it. They are terrified of making mistakes......which then makes mistakes more likely.......and there's nobody willing to take responsibility, take the game by the scruff of the neck, and show any authority. No leader.ย

FGR must've thought Christmas had come early. ย They're not a great side but they're well organised, have a set pattern of play, and they all know their jobs...which breeds confidence. They arrived in Nottingham unbeaten in the league and there was never any danger of that changing yesterday. They'll have very few easier wins this or any other season. ย

It didn't help Notts' cause that injuries meant using a makeshift defence. Hewitt is not a centre half, and Hawkridge is not a full back. The faster we get Tootle and Hall fit the better. ย Davies will be available forย next Saturday. ย

Of course we now have Jones out for 2 or 3 games after his r*d card. The referee was roundly booed for sending him off, but I can tell you for certain that it was a bad challenge and the ref had no choice. I'm not sure wether Jones left the ground, but he certainly went in two-footed and that's serious foul play. No argument.

Harry Kewell has his work cut out. Hopefully he'll bring a breath of fresh air into the club and get some confidence into the players. They need organising from back to front. They need to be given jobs and told what's expected of them, without expecting too much. ย If Kewell can at least get them organised and back to doing the basics properly I think there is enough talent to get out of this awful mess.ย

It'll be interesting to see wether we bring in one or two free agents over the next week or two. Hardy hinted at this in his pre-match interview. ย A goalkeeper, a midfield ballwinner, and perhaps a left back please.ย

    Natty

I honestly feel if Notts had played better, we might have actually gotten something from the game.

The early signs was good, however Notts tended to work themselves into silly areas on the pitch and chances would be wasted. At the back, Notts looked much stronger until we conceded and then again every chance Forest Green had it looked like they would score. The thing is, I didn't actually rate them. I praise them for the win, as they played well as a team but we gifted them the game.

At 2-1, Notts should commit too many men forward and although I felt like Notts wouldn't score - they had a spell where chances was created.

The only striker on the pitch who looked focused was Jon Stead.

However, Kane Hemmings and Kristian Dennis had little service and this is something Harry Kewell must work on.

Pinch punch first of the month.

Good morning, itโ€™s matchday and we are going to trounce FG Rovers arenโ€™t we? Yes we are!

Iโ€™m off on a Park Run very soon, letโ€™s see if I can break my personal best. Later on Iโ€™ll be at the San Sirrel to watch my beloved โ€˜pies. Itโ€™s going to be a good day, COME ON YOU PIES!

ย

Apologies if this has been posted before but for those who donโ€™t follow Hardy on twitter he says heโ€™s had a chat with Bowyer and they exchanged messages, Bowyer is happy to be out of football at the moment.

So we can forget about him. Next!

Morning all, the last day of August, itโ€™ll soon be Autumn then winter, this year has gone quick. Itโ€™s a lovely sunny morning at the moment and itโ€™s forecast to be a good day.

We are back from Crawley had a great time but good to get back home. Today is a big day for Notts so I will likely be catching up with the news of the Kewell appointment and hopefully new players coming in, that refresh button will get some hammer today.

Curry night tonight weโ€™re going to have Chicken Passanda from the Rick Stein Taste of India cookbook.

Have a great day, what are you up to today?

ย

ย

So the King is dead long live the King.

Who do you want to be our next manager?

I'll probably be shot down for this but I wouldn't mind at all if they appointed Charlie McParland again, I thought he did pretty well for us last time around and was unlucky to get the sack, I also watch him on Notts TV's Team Talk programme and he talks some good sense, he is a football man through and through and is very knowledgeable about the game.

Who do you fancy to take over?

Good morning PoN, itโ€™s a bright start here, looks like a decent day is coming.

We are still at Crawley visiting my big brother, had a nice walk yesterday then spent the day just chatting and reminiscing about when we were kids, living in a two up two down terraced house with outside toilet on Meadow Lane. Three boys in one tiny bedroom, you had to climb over beds to get out.

Weโ€™ve had a really great time, my brother is 80 now I canโ€™t believe it, heโ€™s as spritelyย and quick witted as ever, no health problems at all, I think heโ€™ll outlive me and Iโ€™m 15 years younger.

Heading home today and tackling the dreaded M25, wish me luck.

Have a great day and donโ€™t forget to tell us what youโ€™re up to today.

ย

So whoโ€™s going this Saturday to watch Notts against Forest Green this Saturday.ย

Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @Norfolk Pie, I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.

Good morning PoN itโ€™s raining here at Crawley where Iโ€™m visiting my brother. Lots chatting and reminiscing to do today before we head back tomorrow.

Sorry if I havenโ€™t been around here much Iโ€™ll make up for it when I return.

I hope everyone has a good day, keep us informed what you are doing today and above all keep smiling.

Been rumoured on twitter today that interviews will be taking place today and tomorrow for the new manager position after seeking approval from clubs yesterday. Here is SkyBet's current favourites:

Harry Kewell - 4/7

Steve Chettle - 5/2

Gary Bowyer - 6/1

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - 10/1

Michael Flynn - 12/1

ย

Worst appointment for me would be JFH but the best would be Bowyer in my opinion. Kewell has won nothing and is currently at a mid table team no more no less. Hope Chettle can have the chance to string a few wins together to lift spirits as an interim manager.ย

If you agree, disagree, wanted Kevin Nolan to do well.

It makes little difference now that he has been sacked, I was shocked when I loaded up PON's homepage and read the content titles about Nolan being sacked. After time I do see the reasoning behind it, it's not just this season but an accumulation of last season too.

However, since KN has gone, where does this leave the club?

What does the new manager need to do with this squad in order to make it a success on the pitch? Can a new manager be expected to turn the clubs poor start around quickly?

Good morning PoN itโ€™s a cloudy start butย a dry day forecast.

We are off to Crawley for a couple of days to see my big brother (well step brother actually) a few weeks ago I had a bad dream about him which upset me so I thought itโ€™s about time I saw him again as he is now 80 years old!

Iโ€™m not looking forward to the long journey and the dreaded M25 but itโ€™ll be nice to see my bro again so worth it.

While Iโ€™m there I think Iโ€™ll nip round and let Harry Kewells tyres down so he doesnโ€™t make the interview at Meadow Lane.ย :rollonfloorlaughing:

I see my topic about calls for KNโ€™s headย was shared on the PoN Facebook page and has had 63 comments but only 4 on here, where are all our regular readers? This used to be a great place for reasoned debate about Notts and life in general.ย

The last post on here before this one was 23 hours ago. Come on peopleย letโ€™s get some good discussions going on here, Iโ€™m sick of reading Facebook and Twitter and some of the dross that post on there.
