  1. Matt Tootle has gone on record to say that he wants to continue playing at right-back for Notts.

He told the Nottingham Post: "Quietly I think I had a good season, even though I played everywhere under Shez (Sheridan).

"I couldn't really gain any consistency and I kept telling everyone I needed to be right-back.

"I thought my best game was at home to Peterborough and then the game after I was right wing.

"Once I've got right-back people have seen that I got consistency and I will only get better and better.

"As long as I am fit, and doing well, I will be first choice. I've just got to continue where I left off."

Do you agree with him? Should he carry on at right-back? Or do you think he should be deployed elsewhere?

  2. Some interesting comments from Accrington Stanley chairman Andy Holt about the EFL Trophy vote, where he talks of a "master and servant" relationship between the Premier League and the EFL.

  3. Striker Matt Green has been released by Mansfield Town boss Steve Evans.

The 30-year-old scored 13 goals this season and 16 the season before, but he's now a free agent.

Reckon he'd be a good fit for Notts?

(The other players released by the Stags are Yoann Arquin, James Baxendale, Lee Collins, Ashley Hemmings, Kevan Hurst, Pat Hoban, Brian Jensen, Jamie McGuire, Scott Shearer and Corbin Shires.)

  4. Notts have voted to keep the PL academies in it but the academies have to play away from home each match and higher prize money.

    £20,000 per win isn't a bad amount.

AH has had a mixed reaction to this decision mainly negative after stating it was a financial and competitive decision. The trophy has been dying for years and I thought the boycott was the final nail in the coffin but it still has legs..

On paper it is a trophy we could win, a trip to Wembley and a day to remember. And extra income to knock down the £1.5m loss a year.

But are we selling our soul?

  6. I don't like writing messages of this nature, nobody does but I wanted to take a moment to least acknowledge the very sad news that @stewartpot has sadly passed away.

For anyone who knew him personally, you will know that he was a gentle giant and a man who's laugh could fill the room (as did his love). I shared a number of away days over the years with him, spent time on match days trying my best to capture his photo and he was one of the most passionate Notts I knew.

He was a lovely person, someone I know will be dearly missed by the Notts community.

My thoughts go out to his friends and family.

    Rest in Peace Stewpot

  7. Another season is almost at an end, and it's ridiculously tight in both this league and the football leagues. This round wil be played over two days, with league 2 inishing on Saturday and the championship on Sunday. And to make things a bit more exciting, as suggested by our resident Stag, the final round will be a bumper round of SIX fixtures from each division. That makes TWELVE in total, and better yet you will be allowed to pick TWO jokers. However it will be one for Saturday's game and one for Sunday's games. Good luck!

    Saturday's Fixtures (17:30 kick offs)
    Colchester United v Yeovil Town
    Exeter City v Carlisle United
    Grimsby Town v Plymouth Argyle
    Hartlepool United v Doncaster Rovers
    Portsmouth v Cheltenham Town
    Wycombe Wanderers v Cambridge United

    Sunday's Fixtures (12:00 Kick Offs)
Aston Villa v righton & Hove Albion
    Brentford v Blackburn Rovers
    Bristol City v Birmingham City
    Newcastle United v Barnsley
    Nottingham Forest v Ipswich Town
    Sheffield Wednesday v Fulham

  8. Loachy has left us on loan to join York City until the end of the season. You can't blame him, frustrated at the lack of games, hope he proves everyone wrong and gets York out of trouble. Nice enough geezer, down to earth, friendly.

Scott Loach story 1) just been hammered by Mansfield 5-0 Loachy was one of only 2 players (the other being Mike Edwards) who discussed and apologised to fans for the performance..

Scott Loach story 2) wanted leave on loan to get some regular games and come back stronger and fight for a place in the team under Sheridan, loan was refused so he stayed gave 110% when selected and still walked around the place with a smile on his face.

As he's out of contract in the summer, this is probably the end of his line at Notts, farewell Loachy, hope you get regular game time somewhere and play well unless it's against Notts.

  9. How can Notts make the most of their academy system?

The ideal situation for Notts would be to produce our talent that could further allow the club to spend its budget more wisely in the transfer periods, however in recent weeks we have seen promising talent released and although it's quite normal that only a few make the grade in terms of professional contracts. I do feel we could be fast-tracking youngsters, gaining experience for them much quicker and supporting their development stages.

Don't get me wrong, it will take quite a few seasons to catch with other clubs but our academy is ran very well.

I am interested to see opinions on how fans feel we could further improve the academy, what we can do in order ensure we produce quality and provide them the support they need to be vital key members of the Notts County squad.

    **WARNING - CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE***
The fnal few minutes and the pitch invasion as Newport clinch survival in the most dramatic way possible. Fair play to them, it was pretty incredible to witness, even if it was us on the losing side. The locals were brilliant with us, looking forward to going back next year!

newport fans went mental but i dont blame them for going onto the pitch. they survived in somewhat style so its deserved, nice video.

  14. Not been much mention of it so thought I'd start....

Forest have got a home game against Ipswich, a game in which they need to equal (or get better than) whatever score Blackburn get at Brentford. Haven't seen much on here about Forest, but in the stands I've definitely heard a few mentions of wanting Forest to go down. Me personally, I want them to go down and am definitely routing for Ipswich today. That is just purely because I think it might finally wake up the majority of my mates who are Forest fans and also increase our chances of reaching them in next  few years.  However, I understand it would be disappointing  to have both Nottingham teams in the lower half of the football league.

Which way are you lot hoping for it to end after the 90 mins?

  15. We at Pride of Nottingham would just like to give you all a massive thank you for all your engagement and support this season.

Without you all, there literally would be no point for PON, it's a community where you can all enjoy interacting with each other about Notts County and anything and everything else.

We've suffered together, we've celebrated together and now we breathe a sigh of relief together as we look forward to the 2017-18 season with a level of hope not seen at Meadow Lane for many years.

So once again, thank you all for your support, enjoy the summer and let's continue getting behind the team!

What line-up should Kevin Nolan opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

I dunno @CliftonMagpie, we're involved simply because we're playing there on the last day. We just have to remember it's not just Newport fighting for survival. We should give our all to maintain the integrity of the competition, and I think we will. Whether that will be enough for the three points is anyone's guess, the hosts are on form and they and their fans will obviously be up for it.

    3. liampie

      liampie

how often do we end up with wins at the last game? i cant see it.

i do hope hartlepool manage to survive but most wont care as we wont be in it. just hope the coverage is good and we hear a lively performance, if the players perform in holiday mode newport might as well celebrate survival now. we need to make it lively and make them play for it!

Painful performance by Notts in the first half, you would think we was still in trouble. Newport aren't doing much better but why do we keep hoofing the bloody ball?

We need better to see better in the second half.

  17. So Rob Milsom has been voted the Notts County player of the season as well as the players' player of the season for 2016-17.

But we want to throw it out to you guys - who was your personal Notts standout player of the season?

Do you agree with the choice of Milsom, or are there any other players who you would award the accolade to?

    Let PON know!

I wonder if the yellow thing at the end was Colin's beeper that goes off on 45 and 90 minutes? I'm going to miss that.

    2. Chris

      Chris

I think his beeper is small and pocket sized, he once shown me it at one of the club events. I don't recall it being yellow, though what we see in the video is probably something a bit more technical since it plugs into the soundboard.

    3. liampie

i found it quite emotional really, very sad to see him stepping down but at his age he deserves it.

  18. Jon Stead has given a lengthy interview to the Daily Mail as part of their last EFL Q&A of the season.

If you wanted to know all the nitty gritty about the striker's best and worst moments in football, his hardest opponents, and of course, his guilty food pleasure, look no further.

    Here it is: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4475930/EFL-Q-Jon-Stead-opens-up.html

Have a read and let's discuss the finer points of what he's had to say - plenty of interesting material in there.

      NottsGeezerCal

It's about time we had some players with the right mentality, I believe we have a few driven professional players amongst the squad especially since January onwards, hopefully we can bring a few more in through the summer with this ethos and we'll be challenging, a mixture of youth and experience, different types of players as well, we need a star player a high quality game changing goalscorer, we can't rely on Amoebi/Stead all season if they're both here next season..

    2. liampie

      liampie

i agree with @TheFostarr94, we need to see passion and the right mentality.

  20. When I had Netflix I really become immersed in a TV show called Jericho. I found the series late, so I ended up watching them all in a row back-to-back before I went on holiday a few years ago. It was a great show, yet the final episode really ruined the enjoyment level. Since then, I miss shows like 'Heroes' which I was glued to watching - in fact I would have to get back from work in time to watch and I hate missing it!

After the first season it went down hill, I recall them messing around with the time slot and I think it aired after Match of the Day (too late for me then).

Even shows like The Addams Family, Bewitched, The Munsters are all things I used to enjoy (yes Bewitched was before my time, I enjoyed watching re-runs with @GrannyPie.

  21. So we have just one game left of the 2016-17 League Two season, with Notts County travelling to Newport County for what is likely to be a nerve-wracking 90 minutes - for the hosts.

The Magpies have nothing to play for at Rodney Parade except the chance to leapfrog Barnet into 15th place, but given where we were just three months ago, a nice relaxing end to the campaign is very much a blessing, with the club certain of League Two football next season.

So now's the time to ask - what has been your favourite moment this season and why?

  22. Played 2 lost 2 . Sprockel and De Silva played in both games. I liked Ricardo but he does seem to have a blind spot towards the defensive side of things

Notts County decided to hold a firework display ahead of their final home game of the League Two season against Blackpool on Saturday.

With the players lined up on the Meadow Lane pitch not far from the touchline in front of the Derek Pavis stand, they had their backs turned to the display on the centre circle.

And right at the end, loud explosion from the cannons startled both sets of players, some of whom visibly flinched - cue much amusement from the crowd.
