Welcome to the Prde of Nottingham, @Shannon Daly. We hope to see you join in when you feel like it, it would be good to see your thoughts being shared.
I have posted this in the GP General Discussion forum, but it might be Notts related. It all depends on you. I would like to encourage members to tell a tale about meeting someone of important significance that might be interesting to other members of the site.
It could be any type of experience, but importantly of interest. Maybe a quirky thing?
Perhaps even a supernatural experience? Or, something else. I am thinking outside of the box. I think this could be interesting if members are willing to try.

I've just discovered this.
When I was at uni I used to work on open days. One of the most fun tasks was doing guided tours of the university - each time about 10 to 15 people would gather, and I'd take them around the campus, giving them crucial information such as where the cheapest beer is and "this is the longest teaching building in Europe". I'd do a bit of small talk with the students and parents, and it was obviously better when they asked questions and got involved rather than standing in bored silence.
One day there was a familiar face among the parents - none other than Neil Warnock, who was there with his daughter. He was polite and good-humoured throughout, despite me sending him to the wrong building at one stage. If I recall right he was pretty engaged and asked lots of questions about the uni, although I really wanted to talk about football. He could probably tell I was a bit starstruck
Entertaining stories. I have nothing to add, but I want to encourage other members who might to consider joining in and adding more value to this. The Billy Connolly story sounds like he was trying to be amusing with the βare you lostβ comment. I have seen some celebrities in person, but never had the chance to speak to them.
Hereβs a tale for you 10 years ago we went to Dubrovnik and saw a chap dressed in Croatian costume selling lucky charms for 1β¬, a young looking Mrs. T. Bought one off him and had her photo taken.
Fast forward 10 years and we visited Dubrovnik again where we met the same chap still selling his lucky charms, we showed him the picture of himself with Mrs. T and he was delighted βmy old friendsβ he said in broken English. We took another picture of him with a not so young looking Mrs. T.
The lucky charm had doubled in price to 2β¬Β Β

it would be good to see some of them named, but it could be a wait before we see them come on. i think chesterfield might be the wrong game for some of the youngsters but this is off topic. i do think it would be nice to see one or two named.

With the 115 Charges still hanging over their Heads Manchester City could face other Major Problems.
Firstly Txiki Begiristain (there's name to conjure with) the Man who brought Pep to the Etihad is leaving at the End of this Season. And has Pep's current contract also ends at the end ofΒ 2024/2025 it would seem the City Head Coach may also leave along with Begiristain. To either coach at another Club or take a Sabbatical.
Free scoring Erling Haaland is also rumoured to be ready to move away from City with Real Madrid wantingΒ the Norway Striker .Rodri who has an season ending injury may also have played his last game for Manchester City, despite the fact his contract at the Etihad runs until 2027. It seems a lot of City's future rests with the Results of the 115 charges against Them finally being investigated the Results of which may not be known before May of Next Year. If found Guilty of the Charges expect a mass Exodus from the Etihad. Would this also include their Current Owners?
Well theyβve had it too good for too long, theyβre due a fall from grace. Itβd be quite amusing to see the rats deserting the sinking ship.
All this hassle doesnβt look good for English football. You canβt have teams being charged with breaking rules but still allow them to get away with it. It creates a mockery. What is the worst Man City will face? A fine? A transfer embargo?

Can never understand why a young goalkeeper with potential talent was let go by Notts.
He certainly seems to be doing the business for Gateshead.
I think Notts have made a big mistake by not keeping him on the books, even if he were loaned out to get match time.
Β
No Disrespect to Sam Slocombe, but Notts should have held on to Tiernan Brookes. Yes we have an Excellent Keeper in Bass, but the way Notts Luck with injuries is going I would sooner have had Tiernan as Backup rather than Sam.
Maybe he had enough of loans and wanted first team football? Can't blame him especially as Gateshead seem to have a good structure about them.

Well Iβm glad I was watching on the telly rather than attending, itβs a filthy night and Notts didnβt do much to engage the small crowd. Did we have a shot on target? I canβt remember seeing one.
Positives: Fringe players got minutes, Tsaroulla was our best player and young Madou Cisse looked lively when he came on.
Brown had a chance to impress but I didnβt see anything from him that made me think he should be in the first team, I thought he was poor.
Well done guys.

School boy errors but we've seen plenty of them at Notts last seasonΒ
Every league tier in Europe have strong teams and weak teams, I don't think that it is entirely down the the standard of the leagues as a whole.
It's just a case of some poor teams that can't compete with the richer teams. We see that here, & I'm sure it's the same across Europe.
It doesn't really say anything about the standard, anyone can have a blackout and do something really stupid. I've seen some amazing own goals this season though.
The third division is where it's at anyway

Who is your Man of the Match? 46 members have voted
Notts may have Lost the Match by the odd goal but there were still some good performances for Notts. Here is my shortlist for man of the match.
Crowley, not at his absolute best, but he was behind most of what Notts were creating.
Jatta, never stopped running, with better luck may have put one of those chances away in the first half.
Platt, his usual self at the back. Calm & assured & secure.
Gordon. I think he was ok & got forward in his role as wing back.
Robertson, did is usual job in the centre of midfield, steady.
Bedeau, he was good at the back once again, & got forward a few times.Β
Austin, did his usual steady job today.
Palmer, Steady & assured in midfield.Β

There are some votes for both Dan Crowley and Kellan Gordon, but itβs hard to disagree with the result. Well done to Dan Crowley!
Well done to Dan Crowley; he definitely deserves to be named Pride of Nottinghamβs Man of the Match. I hope we can get back to winning ways at Meadow Lane, but Crowley is a big part of our success.
pleased that dan crowley got voted as the man of the match for pon against port vale.
Congrats to James who has signed professional terms with Notts County.

From what Iβve seen, Jason Sandersaon is a promising young player. Iβd like to see him given 15 minutes of playtime when the timing is right. I hope this will continue under Stuart Maynard. I believe he has a bright future if we can keep him or properly integrate him into the team.
I wonder if we will see James Sanderson feature against Northampton tonight?

Β£150,000?? surely it dont cost that much to repair that damage.
anyone want to start a football pitch repair company with me? if that is the price to have a small area fixed, imagine how much you can get to have the whole pitch done. if they are doing it all, i think its wrong to ask people to donate to achieve it when its only a small part.
@liampieΒ Trouble is, the whole pitch may have to be dug up to prevent that sort of damage spreading to other areas of the pitch.
Looks like there's a problem with the entire drainage of the pitch. It's going to be difficult to relay a new pitch or section of pitch this time of year.Β
Wimbledon will have to lay turf instead of seed.
I looked up some interesting Statistics comparing the League 2 table of the 6th Oct 2023 with the table today
Notts were top of the table this time last year on goal difference after 10 games.
They were on 20 points. They had scored 23 goals but conceded 19 with a goal difference of +4.
This season they are on 18 points in fifth place 1 point behind the top team. They have scored 17 goals & conceded 9 with a goal difference of +8
So this season the team has conceded 10 goals less than at the same time last season.
So I think that shows that Notts have improved defensively, butΒ have scored 6 less goals.
Stuart is trying to get the balance right between having a good defence & having a successful attack.
At the moment I think he has the balance just about right. What he has to solve is the team opening up teams at home who are prepared to sit back & wait for opportunities up front.
Maybe he needs to play two strikers at home, with wing backs that can get behind defenders.Β
Funnily enough, when playing away, Notts get more space to create better chances, because teams at home want to attack Notts moreΒ
It will be interesting to see how things develop in the next 10 matchesΒ

I think that Notts have improved regarding players up front being able to defend when required.
I think that Stuart demands that trait from his forwards. We have seen Didzy making a last ditch clearance off the line & Jatta heading away corners.
As far as Nemane was concerned, he was great going forward but not so defending. I maybe understand why he was released.
I believe Notts are becoming a better all round side this season compared to the Williams era.
As I said in another topic I think the biggest difference this season is that Notts are not so predictable as they were last season, we can go long when necessary or we hoof the ball into row z when there is imminent danger instead of trying to play out from the back all the time. Corners can go long or short, we sometimes use long throws, all these things make us unpredictable and hard to play against. In spite of the two home losses recently I believe we have improved and I have every confidence that we'll be up near the top at the end of the season. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite me on the bum.
Have we progressed? Absolutely. Have we progressed enough? Iβm not so sure. I still see us as being a two or 3 players short, and theyβre all towards the top end of the pitch. We miss that ability that Ruben had, to play great little through balls around the box.
We can and should be playing another forward at home and we need to test the goalkeeperβs more, took often we try to walk the ball in. We need to take more risks in order to break down the opposition, itβs currently a little too safe.
Once again things in the Premier League just get Dafter. Manchester United are going to offer 19 year old Kobbie Mainoo a new contract, which will quadruple his current weekly wage. This Obscene amount of money proves how much the Prem is out of Touch with the Real Footballing World. Can you Imagine the Amount of Pressure that's going to be placed on this Young Man's shoulders? He's going to have to perform at the top of his game, each and every game and the Media are going to have a field day, if he doesn't . Because one thing the Main Stream Media like other than building up a Player is Knocking him back down again.
Let's hope there's someone's around to keep his feet firmly on the ground, because all that money is going to have one hell of an impact on his young life. Having so much cash and not knowing what to do with it all, is a certain way to lead him down the wrong path. And you'd think by now United would have some idea about giving a youngster that much money, how it can very easily ruin the Kids Life. Just remember a certain George Best. Good Luck Kobbie You're Gonna Need It.
Why can't they just put some money in trust for these players until they reach 21 so they will be more mature to deal with a large sum of money?
They could still pay these young player's a reasonable gratuity until they reach that age.
Trouble is, other clubs will be touting for these young players & are in direct competition with each other & the player goes to the highest bidderΒ
It's Matchday. Notts Women face Peterborough at Coronation Park Eastwood at 2pm today.
It will be a tough match because Peterborough bare one of the four very strong teams in this league & they will be looking for promotion this season.
However, Notts have improved since last season with some excellent performances home & away.

An interesting article.Β
I believe that when so many players come into a club, it will take time for the Head Coach to decide who is best eleven is.
And it always takes time for players to gel together as a team. I'm sure the results will improve as the players become accustomed to one another.
Trouble is, Head Coaches & Managers soon come under the spotlight when the results aren't forthcoming.
Professional Football is a results oriented business, & Head Coaches/Managers will only be given so long to deliver.
However, in the long term, I'm sure the Nordic owners will do good things for Burton, & their financialΒ investment will be rewarded.
Itβs no surprise that Burton are struggling with all the departures and changes they have made. I donβt think they will be relegated from League One, but they need to start showing signs of improvement. It shows how fortunate we are to have retained many of our best players. Even though we have sold some, in football terms, that would be considered a success.
