Jim has been appointed under 18 Head Coach at Sheffield United. Congratulations Jim.

"Tottenham Hotspur’s Under 21s captain, George Abbott, has joined Notts on a season-long loan.

The 19 year-old midfielder arrives at Meadow Lane having been heavily involved in Spurs’ first-team summer preparations, featuring in their pre-season friendlies against Bayern Munich, QPR and Vissel Kobe"

  • I like him, he's determined and doesn't press for the ball. You can see it wants it and at times, I did feel he was being overlooked for what would have been an easier pass, but I don't think that was intentional. He does everything so superbly, especially getting stuck in with challenges. Defensively, he's very quick to pick up the ball. Curtis Edwards seemed impressed by how he linked in with the player. I noticed them shake hands after Edwards had released the ball to McGoldrick before being fouled.

@Piethagoram How about we just send Adam Chicksen back when the loan is over, having had both players change their names legally. George Abbott would make an absolutely fantastic permanent addition to our team. ;)

He looks like a strong loan signing, doesn’t he? George Abbott should become a lot more confident with more time to settle and plenty more minutes. I think it will be interesting to see how Scott Robertson fits in because Abbott would make my starting team ahead of Robertson currently. I know Robertson is out at the moment, but even when fit, I would choose Abbott.

Jodi is carrying on where he left off last season by assisting & scoring goals.

He's been nominated for the August player of the month award.

Jevani is another good signing for Notts.

Another versatile player joins Notts on loan for the Season.

Jevani can play as a striker, attacking midfielder or winger, so is another player who brings fantastic versatility to the squad.

The squad is now complete till the next transfer window in January in my opinion.

A bit from Stuart Maynard addressing the controversy.

Notts County boss Stuart Maynard says Jevani Brown "is trying to become a better person" after admitting to assaulting a woman last year.

He explains the club's reasons for signing him, it's slightly more reassuring. I hope the statement about him getting help was genuine and not just a token gesture.

I think that comment might relate to him getting help with an alcohol problem. He's not the only Notts player to have had problems there. Hope he moves on and does well with us - if there are any issues, back he goes.

I mean, it doesn’t look good as to what happened. I won’t judge him for it. I think everyone can make a mistake, and I hope that’s what it is. I thought he looked good. His wiki page isn’t the most glamorous, but I guess it depends on where he has played mostly.

Dan & Jodi are staying.

Those two staying are as good as two massive transfer incomings.

Fantastic news to end the day.

Match day

Notts County Women play Northampton Town today 2pm Kick off

This will be a tough match as Northampton are one of the very good teams in this Division.

Notts have certainly become more competitive this season so Northampton will be a good test for that recent improvement.

  • @Blake Northampton are a very good side at this level. They will probably be top four at season's end, however the score flattered them a little.

Two of the goals were immediately after Notts substitutions & Notts had a few good chances to score themselves.

Notts are competing on a level playing field with approx six to seven sides. Those are the sides they need to beat & they've  already won two.

I am sure we will continue to see improvements, it's against the bigger teams where eventually we should see further signs of the squad becoming better. It takes time; nothing is lost if you don't push for better things.

There's no shame in losing the game, pleased for Pies' to get two goals.

i wish the womens pies all the best with their season, losing here and there is just football. i hope they can in time bridge the gap and eventually beat these teams they are currently finding hard.

  • why do i get the feeling he hung on to see if a league club would show interest? i dont think it would show all that much commitment. i thought his heads was in the clouds and he never shown any of the promise that came with signing him. will randall should have been much better.

He should do well with them, sometimes there are good players who only excel with smaller clubs or teams with lesser talent in them. It can help lift performances of the likes of Will Randall, when they have the focus and if they don't get it at clubs it can lead to a less focused showing. I mean this with no disrespect, but I believe he's one of those types who like to carry a team and be the main focus.

I do find it a bit funny that it's taken him so long to find a club, I wondered if he would return to Sutton United.

Very average player for Notts, one who looked to have the quality but not the interest to perform well enough to be starting or getting minutes on the pitch. Which, it's a real shame as we offered a platform to head in the right direction with his career.

Who is your player of the match for Notts against Accrington?

There are a few players that are deserving of that accolade in my opinion.

David McGoldrick.

He looked sharp upfront & scored two more goals today.

Curtis Edwards.

He never stopped running and did his work unnoticed, but he was very effective in midfield.

Matty Platt

A rock in defence once again. Won most of his aerial duels & is becoming linch pin of the Notts defence.

Jacob Bedeau

Another good performance by Jacob. Sound in defence & effective when he ventures up front.

George Abbott

A brilliant debut by the youngster. He was very effective in midfield, in fact, in my opinion, he bossed the midfield against Accrington.

Conor Grant

Very effective in the attacking midfield role supporting Didzy, Had a daunting task to step into Crowley's shoes somewhat but he did so well.

Those are the players that stood out for me on Saturday against Accrington.

From that list of Notts players, I go for George Abbott as Notts player of the match

He had a wonderful debut & he's going to play a big part in the season for Notts.

It will be very hard for Stuart not to pick him in the starting 11 against Bromley.

Nottingham born, famously receiving a 2nd yellow for perceived slowness leaving the pitch when being substituted at Donny.

Just released by Sutton United

I know coz I was there!

Lee Carsley is being criticised because he says he won’t sing the National Anthem at todays match. Personally I think it should be his choice, what do others think?

  • Talk about a storm in a tea cup. This one has been whipped up by people who are obsessed about "free speech" when it comes to using racist language - but when Lee Carsley exercises his own freedom not to sing a song, the sky is suddenly falling down. Good on him for sticking to his guns and annoying all the right people.

It feels as though it's the same as those fans using Stuart Maynard's previous full-time position as a BT Technician against him.

Lee Carsley is entitled to sing if he wants, or not.

People really need to stop jumping on things because when the same lot complains the world has gone mad, political correctness this and that - well they're part of the problem. The only thing I care about is signs we are good enough, along with results.

Who remembers this?

  • Honestly, I thought this was a more American thing.

At least until I reached year 10, when my PE teacher Mr Wilson pulled out these very old ropes and showed us how to climb them. I had no issue with doing that; coming down is what I feared. If you weren't careful, not only would you get rope burns from holding tightly, but have them on the way down. I'm not a fan of heights, but I move very slowly and akwardly coming down from the top. One of my friends, just refused and I wished I had.

Mind Mr Wilson, it was the same person that told me to get up when I suffered a dislocation to my right knee. That wasn't a pretty sight!

Luckily not! Otherwise I'd probably be dead.

The main memory from my PE lessons in the 90s were the cross country runs. We just walked for most of it, but broke into a jog when the teachers turned up in their cars to check on us. It also involved negotiating a farmer's field with bulls in it - I ran that bit!

I nearly died when I noticed this. I was worried you might give credit to an outfield player!!! Michael Kelly, aka Aiden Stone's brother, does deserve to be mentioned! I thought he was outstanding, saving Accrington Stanley from a very embarrassing outcome.

Nelson Khumbeni, I think is the god awful player that could have hit the target in the first half for Accrington but seemed to shoot away from goal and more towards where I sat. He seemed to blame his boot, though it was like he saw the ball move much slower than what it did because the connection on the effort wasn't very good. I thought he did some decent running, but I wasn't impressed with any of their outfield players.

After British success in the Olympic games a few weeks ago, attention now turns to the Paris Paralympic Games.

Team GB has had lots of success at past Paralympics & hopefully in Paris the team can do well again.

There are 169 nations competing including a refugee team & a neutral NPA team.

The games will include 549 events over 22 sports. Closing ceremony will be on the 8th September.

This will be the thread to find  news of British successes & to discuss them too.

The opening ceremony begins tonight.

Good morning another week dawns, it a grey cloudy start here and looks decide.y like it will rain at any time.

Today is @George L’s 16th birthday so tonight we will be joining the family for a meal in the local Indian restaurant, really looking forward to that, it seems ages since we all had a meal out together.

Have a great day whatever you are doing.

  • Good morning, I woke up too late to go to the Park Run but it’s matchday, I’ll be there with grandaughter Chloe, I’m hoping for an entertaining match and obviously a Notts win.

I’ll set the England match to record then watch it when I get home.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Morning all it’s nice weather for ducks. :joker:

I woke up this morning trying to remember why I felt happy then I remembered we won again yesterday, isn’t it a nice feeling?

Today as it’s wet we are going to get in the loft and try to sort some stuff out to either send to the charity shop or the tip, I won’t be doing any heavy lifting though as my arm is too painful.

At least with us having bungalow with a bedroom in the loft the storage part is easy to get to, it’s just a door from the bedroom, so we don’t have to pull down a ladder or anything which is a bonus as we get older.

Does anyone else have pre match rituals, special clothes they wear, lucky underpants?

I always wear a Notts shirt my sons bought me for my 50th birthday 22years ago, the back of the shirt is a bit faded now but you can still read ,”Dad 50” it’s very precious because I only have one son now.

I also wear a cap, my old cap which I bought in a charity shop because it said “magpie” got very tatty and @Chris very kindly gave me another one, so I always wear that too.

Who else has matchday rituals?

I used to believe wearing away shirts at home was unlucky, but then I found myself buying more of them and this eventually faded. I used to have a home shirt I believed was lucky, as I didn't watch Notts lose wearing it, but it stopped fitting me years ago. It was a medium, there's no chance that would now. ???? I did think about trying during the season where we were relegated, but I just opt towards bringing Ava (@CutiePie) with me.

Every game she has attended we have won, including all four games she made during the same season I mentioned before.

Jake didn't believe me, though even he ended up trying to convince Ava to come to more games when surprisingly for him, we won. Tranmere, Mansfield, and Grimsby are 3 of the 4 she made. Considering how we did that season, they proved to be big wins.

That was the last season Ava actually went to see Notts, getting her back these days isn't remotely doable.

I don't have any rituals as such now. I can remember back in the days when the Jimmy Sirrel stand was open to us and it was a case of pick your seat cos of how unpopulated it was, I never used to sit in an odd number seat except for number 27 which I would actively seek out (cos that's my birthday day). And if we we're losing in games I would also switch seats to a higher number because that was obviously going to make a massive difference to the on field result! I was only about 8 or 9 so it made perfect sense to me!

..Trent Bridge and some other red eyesore????

I have to be picky, the video quality is awful and reminds me of when I used my Nokia 5310 Xpress Red phone. It's very whitewashed, which takes the enjoyment away from actually seeing it. There are cheap drones on the market that can capture better footage. :(

I think that the view of all three grounds from the air is so iconic.

Those three grounds & the clubs that play there all have something in common, both football clubs at one point in their history played their matches at Trent bridge.

Both Football teams in the past had players that played cricket at Trent Bridge too,

There are family connections that unite all three Clubs. It's not just that the three grounds are close. The close connection goes much further than that.

Has anyone seen Changing Ends? It’s a semi biography about Alan Carr’s (the camp comedian) early life. His Dad Graham Carr was a manager of Northampton Town in the then 4th division. I don’t normally like Alan Carr but this series is very funny and interesting.

Its about his struggles at school being obviously effeminate at an early age, his dad wanted him to be a footballer which was never going to happen.

The young lad who plays Carr as a boy is brilliant in it.

  • I must say if the series is a true reflection of his early life, he must have gone through hell as a schoolboy people are much more accepting now of gays, lesbians etc but back in the 1980s unfortunately people were less so.

I’m not keen on him as a stand up comedian his voice grates but I have a new respect for him knowing what he’s gone through.

@Fan of Big Tone I have been watching it with Kate, it's actually very funny - especially in parts.

Oliver Savell really steals the show, and is a great choice to act as a younger Alan Carr. What makes it more interesting to me, is the balance between his father's relationship and how he coped at a young age for being camp. We're on the second season, having watched the episode where he was sick going into kissing the girl who clearly adored him. The Guess Who part, where Alan explained that it was his only "female crush" and the beret hat was hilarious.

Game 4 - The Robins (A)

Team: Swindon Town

Date: 31/08/2024

Where: County Ground

What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

I wondered if Kevin Keegan had done some sort of event I hadn't heard about, as many of my Facebook friends managed to get their photos taken with him. Impressively, he seemed very friendly and was all smiles.

Now it all makes sense. It was interesting to see him at Meadow Lane.

The memory club is a very good idea.

EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG

Coped well with Jodi Jones

EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG

Good midfielder

he was mentioned in the opposition view, he did well and looked like one of swindon towns best players. they have been having issues where they have not given players all that long in contracts, most previously would need renewing. thier owner has been making a lot of poor choices.

a fun thing i learned by speaking with some of their fans, they own 50% of the stadium and that means it prevents the owner or club from doing silly things with it.
